    Take an empty coffee can. Cut a star pattern in the plastic lid. Add rocks for weight. Keep this in your boat. It’s easy to ball up old line and stick it through the star cuts into the can. The lid will keep it from blowing out when trailering and running across the water. When bass fishing I always breakoff 2-3 feet of line when I re-tie. I found this to be the best way to handle old line.

    I do the same, then periodically take the lid off and hit it quick with the torch. Melts the mono down into a glob at the bottom so no messes like the above pic.

    At Last!!!! A positive report from Leech! Nice work and report. I was up a few weeks ago and found the same on the perch. A lot of dinks but if you kept at it you could get enough keepers for a meal. Couldn’t buy a walleye but had fun with the northerns. Headed up this weekend to target eyes. How did Walker bay look? Gotta be close to turning by now.

    Yeah, I’m torn on that one. Do I install in the battery compartment for easy access on the install but not so convenient for use or do I try to jam myself under that console one more time to install in the dash. Again, thanks for the info. KB

    Thanks for the “heads up” on this one guys. I was not looking forward to sitting down and reading the instruction manual to figure out what was wrong with mine.
    Brook – Did you install a switch at the console for the power to the puck? I installed mine awhile back and am having battery drain. (no switch) Going to tackle that project this weekend. Wondering if a battery switch would be better??
    (sorry Wade, my wife and kids suprised me with the 332 for my birthday and did not go through you. We will hook up next time.)

    Bobberal, going to give the wife a couple of days of full attn with the kids and then start walking that fine line of being just annoying enough where she will actually tell me to go fishing but not annoying enough where she won’t welcome me back. I’m thinking by Monday/Tuesday night I will be on the water after we get the kids to bed. I regularly stay @ Hiawatha with my brothers and we fish all the regular spots towards the main lake but have never been in Kabekona or Benedict. Anything back there that will keep the interest of a 4yr old boy?

    Good luck to you as well. Have a good time and leave some for my 4yr old! He’s looking forward to it as much as I am!

    Beno – When are you going up? I’ll be staying next door to you @ Baileys starting Saturday the 7th for the week. I’m in a similar situation (family vaca w/ the 1yr old and 4yr old) I’d like to fit in some night fishing along the way somewhere and I’m looking for a partner. If you’re still up there look me up. (Grey/Silver Lund Explorer with 70 Evinrude)
    I’ll definitely have a few cold ones to share!

    I’ve had one in my Lund for a year now and love it! I don’t keep many fish so I can’t speak to that end but it DOES keep my sucker minnows kicking! Last summer on a 3 day trip , I didn’t lose one minnow!!! Freshened the water in the livewell before I turned in each night and again in the AM before we left the dock. Left the oxygenator on the whole 3 days the boat was in the water as it doesn’t pull much for amps. So….I either scored on the heartiest batch of suckers I’ve ever seen or the thing works. Hope it helps. Good Luck! KB

    Thanks to all for the advice! We hit Spring lake in the AM and all went great!!! (he wants to go again next weekend!! ) A couple of ‘gills, chocolate donuts, and a nice slow ride around the lake was the ticket for us. He lasted for just over an hour until he got a little fidgety and then we headed in. Again, thanks for the input!!!
    ps; Lesson Learned! Chocolate Donuts w/Sprinkles + 3yr old = stained boat carpet!! (What was I thinking???)

    Reply on the bedliner;
    I bought the same truck in 2001 and brought it immediately to to a place in Savage called Line-X. Couldn’t be happier with it. The liner is tougher than nails and if it chips (which it hasn’t) they will fix it for free. Need to be careful throwing stuff in the back because it will still dent the whell wells etc if you care about that sort of thing.
