    Hey Dave,

    Are you fishing Pool 16 or 17 or both. I live in the area but have never fished Pool 17, mostly 14,15,16. Are the bass moving near their spawning areas or are they still pretty deep? Thanks

    I went fishing with a friend and his dad around Osakis, MN. I caught about a 6 or 7 pound dogfish and he proceeded to take the pole out from under the seat and beat the fish over the head, getting blood on the carpet. I had no idea why he did it but he later explained that they were garbage fish. Man what a fight they put up though.

    Doesn’t 80# line have adverse effects on the way your bait acts? Just wondering.

    Even though I used a mono backer, the fireline would dig into itself and make a “valley” in the spool of line. Would Spiderline braid be better suited for this reel or should I go to mono. It seemed like the fireline wanted to stay in the spooled shape rather than straighten out when casting.
