This is what I use. Nice when walking or on the snowmobile so I can throw over my shoulder.
I use a hard side if I drive the truck out, which is very rare.
I went to the bag with PVC inserts because it was less bulky.

Reach out to digger. They sent me a new cradle cap this year for my rack purchased last year. It fits with the Lite-Flite
Outside of the Warroad River. Can’t fish in the river but anywhere from just outside of it to the bay headed to Springsteel and you should run into some nice pike.
Blair, how do you haul your sled? I’m looking to put my auger rack (same one) in the front as well but I don’t think I’ll be able to get my travel cover on it with the rack up there.
I have a two place trailer.
I haven’t caught a fish on it yet obviously but it feels fast to me. Has that soft tip that transitions into a really nice backbone. I’ve never used a Croix ice rod but I’ve caught plenty on the Commander and this rod seems to have a lot of the characteristics that one does.
Only reason I got rid of my Commander was because it was 32”. I wanted a longer rod and the Fenwick seemed to fit that without the price tag.
Time will tell I guess but Fenwick makes nice rods!
I bought that rod for this season. I’ve owned the Commander and it feels very similar to me. Kind of feels like a mix between that and the St Croix’s.
brewerybuilder, do you have any more pics of how you mounted the adjustable arm? Looks awesome!
I think for a lot of people it comes down to where they live. I’m up in Moorhead and fish LOW, Winnipeg, Devils, etc . . . and couldn’t imagine not having a sled. We just get so much more snow than a lot of places and it’s colder.
I completely agree with Joe. I never have to worry about getting anywhere or fishing by the crowds. I know that, with my sled, I’ll be able to get away from everyone, go over (most) ridges, and make my own path lots of times. It’s just a piece of mind. It’s one of the reasons I rarely drive my truck on the ice.
BUT, the first topic mentioned said a trailer is out of the question. So maybe a wheeler is the best route to go if you can get it in the back of a vehicle.
I use a 97 Arctic Cat Pantera 2 Up. It has EFI, Electric start, and reverse. Mine is liquid cooled and do have to make sure to check it on warmer days. If the light turns on I just throw some slush/snow on the bottom and it cools fine.
When I get another sled it’ll be some sort of wide track though. My sled is a bit tippy if you get two people on there.
Digger auger carrier. They’re coming out with a cradle cap this year for it.
I’m sure the Rhino single grip XL would work too.
For those that went last weekend, did they have any good prices on flip overs or hubs?
I picked up a 20-21 Striker Ice catalog at Scheels today. Saw they’re using a 40V RAZR auger in the photos.
Does anyone know anything about them? I’ve never heard of them before.
I use a 2 up snowmobile to pull my Otter Lodge. It isn’t a wide track so it’s a little “tippy” with two people. I have an EFI so I don’t deal with the carbs and the flooding when it’s warm. But it’s liquid cooled so I make sure to drive through snow when it’s warm.
My Dad and brother both have Rangers with tracks on them. If you have the $$ I think that’s the way to go! Most have heated cabs. Can fit three guys (it’s tight but it’s definitely doable). You also have the box to put items in as well. Get a 14’ trailer and you can put the Lodge behind the Ranger on the trailer and have the pickup box to put auger and such.
I don’t know where you’re fishing, but I’d recommend tracks if you deal with a lot of snow or ridges. Just a piece of mind knowing you can get where you want to go. With tires (UTV OR TRUCK), most of the time, you’re stuck on the main roads in the community holes. Tracks get you away from people.
Just my two cents.
I thought the same thing but then I saw this on their website.
I’ll try both sets of leads on one battery this morning.
Here are a couple photos. I did mount it “upside down“ because my battery is on left side of boat and easier for wires to that side. Manual said it can be installed any way.
Ok, I should’ve done that before but didn’t.
Also, if I’m only using one bank, do I need to put electrical tape or anything over the metal connectors for the one not in use? Or are they ok to just lay next to the charger?
Thanks!

I have these and like them
Here’s what Strikemaster customer service just sent me:
We do not sell the 40v powerhead with a chipper style auger.
While you can connect the chipper auger to the 40v and it should work, realize you will void the warranty on both items if you use the chipper auger on the 40v powerhead.
It should work but officially we can’t recommend it. ( as it has not been tested as this setup, therefore we do not sell it as such)
The chipper auger does requires different rpm’s torque and drag compared to the lazer to optimize operation. This is why the 40v powerhead comes with the lazer auger and all specs are dialed in for the use with a lazer auger.

I think everyone who owns a 40V or lazer blades knows you should have a backup set with you.
We were on Lake Winnipeg this weekend and drilled a ton of holes with a 10” 40V. Ice was dirty but didn’t have an issue. Same as earlier this winter and last year.
If you look around the parking lot at what each person has or even watch videos online you’ll see they’re using the 40V all the time up there. Can’t count how many Rangers and sleds went by us this weekend with the 40V on them.
My deadline is always either a jig and minnow or hook and minnow.
Two weeks ago at LOW I had the 1/8 oz PK spoon in red dot glow with a full minnow, tail hooked below it.
Would the JT rod tip be bent over a little with this setup or will it handle it? I fish Devils Lake, LOW, and Lake Winnipeg each winter.
I’m leaning towards the JT setup as I think it’s a really nice rod and I like the stand and ability to see the rod from a ways away. Just want to make sure you’re not extremely limited as to what you can put down there for presentation with it.
Def not a float. I’ve used a finicky fooler a lot this year. Little jigger tip down in the past.
Would use the JT rod holder if I went that route.
Looking for a rod with softer tip/backbone the dead sticks provide.
I’m mainly a walleye fisherman but have started to get into panfish because of where I live now.
I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a panfish rod so I went with the Jason Mitchell Meat Stick last year and bought a Dead Meat this year.
$40 and have a great high vis tip and backbone.
Now, do I wish I had a bullwhip, absolutely! But just didn’t want to spend that much money on a panfish rod right away.
