best bait for the big crappies seems to be the old stand by- demon and shiner under a slip bobber. the whities prefer a #3 pimple with a waxie on each hook. although the slabs dont often hit this presentation it does seem to draw them into the shiner.

coot, ive had my best action on the south shore of butte des mortes on the 7ft flat. never really get into a knock em dead day, but the ones we get are real horses. i put one on the wall last new years eve that was just at 16 1/2″ the nice thing is that the magnum white bass usually keep you busy in between crappies.

i see that shiners are pretty pricey up there. the lodge says they supply fresh bait. will that include live bait?

well boys, our trip is booked! we settled on sportsmans lodge Feb 8th-11th. It will be our first time on LOW, any tips would be appreciated! is there a decent jigging spoon bite or are bait/bobber combos the ticket?

thanks for the replies guys! a couple guys in the group are getting a little edgy about the 11 hour trip to get there from here (oshkosh, wi). any ideas for other lakes that may be a bit closer? we dont care at all about taking fish home, so a slot lake would be fine. just looking for a good walleye bite. thanks in advance for your replies.
