Fishing wasn’t any good on Sunday so I came home early and figured out how to get them installed. It didn’t look like I would have enough room just looking at the 2 batteries in the compartment. Removed batteries and just messed with the battery trays to figure out spacing…More room in there than what I thought initially.

I’m using the RAM Mount specific for the Helix 9, 10, and 12. I also used the large cable manager so I could mount the ram directly over the hole where wires come up through the dash. Overall length is 7.875″ for this mount. Here is the RAM part number: RAM-D-202-25-C-202U

I installed the Helix 9SI at the bow and 10SI at the helm. Sure, the screen is a bit smaller on the 9, but it hasn’t bothered me at all. I’m very pleased with both units. I did upgrade the compact SI transducer that comes with the 9SI to the HDSI that comes with the 10SI. No regrets yet on my decision to purchase the 9SI. Saved about $420 by going with the 9SI and switching to the HDSI transducer. More fishing gear!

I’ve read or watched a video on this recently and yes, you can network core series with the Helix. Look on Humminbird’s site under frequently asked questions…Lots of good information to be gleened. They also respond to emails within a few days.

    I make them.
It is mounted high enough to protect the transducer from impacts. It only works up to about 6 MPH. when the boat starts to plane the transducer comes up out of the water. This isn’t a problem because SI and DI are only really useful at lower speeds and I get 2-D info from a glasses in transducer using a AS SIDB Y cable that splits SI and 2d, to run both transducers to one unit.

If you want your HDSI transducer to work at on plane speeds it must be located with it’s face slightly below the lowest step of the hull.

Thank you! Good information. My project today is setting up my Helix 9 SI & 10SI. Fish don’t stand a chance now! lol

Shouldn’t the transducer run just below the step line. In this photo the transducer looks like it is 1/4″ above the step.

    Thanks for posting the picture!

Did you purchse the bracket or did you make it? I like the idea of not drilling holes!

    Thanks for the picture!

Looks like it handled the waves just fine. Thanks for sharing and letting us all see that you can take the WX 1910 out in wind.

I read some of the other posts the other day and wondered if I should keep looking at Skeeter, but none of the people who had issues ever showed their issues with pictures or video. It is hard to tell who is being upfront and who just likes to bash a brand on these sites. I like to throw out the worst and best comments, because reality is usually somewhere in the middle. Skeeter boats are not the only ones I’ve seen with a hydrofoil. Why would they sell them in every boat shop across the country? The guy I buy minnows from has a 620 Ranger in his garage with a hydrofoil on it. Hmmm, no way a $75K+ boat should have one though…I’ve also seen other boat brands have porpoise issues.

Thanks Lambeau for sharing information and backing it up with good solid data.

Just when I was thinking I would like to step up to the WX 1910, someone throws out that they had numerous issues with it (Thanks for the information). My WX 1850 is a good boat but not a speed demon (43 mph). I had a lot of issues with porpoising with the stock painted stainless prop, but found a s.s. polished prop the eliminated most of the issue. Now I’m rethinking what direction to go.

lambeau, Seems like your ducer is a bit high. Do you have any issues getting a good reading? From what I have researched most put the bottom of the ducer almost even or a touch lower than the step. Like what Cal posted. Just curious did you install or dealer?

Joe, I agree with you! Maybe they should get rid of the pics of the WX1880 they put in the WX1850 gallery. Nothing worse than re-work!
