Jamin,
I ordered 2 more (2 originally so 4 total) batteries and chargers. Just thought I would let you know.
Thanks for all your efforts on this.

They are still under contract with the new motor supplier they changed to after the rapala merger. We have had at least a dozen units go back from Manitoba, some on their second and third times for the same motor issue. They will not acknowledge it and do a good faith recall, and their reputation is getting pounded for it.<div class=”d4p-bbt-quote-title”>Jeremy Hadrava wrote:</div>
Such an unfortunate deal for the folks who work hard for their money to be able to purchase these units. I’ve had good luck so far with my past Units (Two LX-5’s) but I know I’ve seen a similar thread on other forums talking about these same issues. I hope having the big brother corporation pulling on the purse strings doesn’t cause a decent company like MarCum to let the quality of their products go down the tubes. You both realize they are an independently owned company, not owned by Normark. They have a marketing/sales agreement with Normark but are in complete control of their own product manufacturing, quality control and R&D. Polaris is also a brand that is part of Ice Force. Hate for you guys to be blaming Rapala for a bad valve stem on an ATV tire.
I understand they are still independent owned. However when you are trying to maximize profits because someone else is setting the price it always seems as though the quality takes a hit. I just don’t like to see the consumer pay the price because a larger company names their price and expects the goods delivered no matter the issue.
I’ve owned several MarCum products and I will say I’ve been content with them overall. However with that said, a $600.00 to $700.00 unit should work the way intended or a company should make every effort to ensure that the product functions to the level that it should at that price point. To me it seems as though the MarCum/Rapala alliance has caused some issues in getting products out the door first versus ensuring they meet the needs of the consumer given what they pay…

I have both an Otter and a Frabill. The otter is definitely a nicer Rod Case but is also twice the money. However if you are protecting $100 rods it’s worth it to spend the extra money. Ice fishing innovations have really nice cases. I don’t own one but I had the owner Greg send me a couple of pictures of what he has to offer. These are from last year.
It would definitely be nice to know that moving forward when the time comes to upgrade electronics.
Where are you located? I get down towards the metro once in a while for work.
I personally wouldn’t throw out stihl. Price point and also performance you may get what you are looking for depending on the dealer. I’ve owned Stihl, Jonsered, and Husqvarna. I actually like my Stihl and use it the most for exactly what you are talking about for the reasons you have stated. I’m in the process of building my house and just recently cleared the majority of my building site by hand (About 4 acres). I have a small professional grade saw that I absolutely have no complaints about. With that said I also have a 55 rancher which is the older version of the 455 rancher and this saw has also served me well. You are correct that Jonsered is basically the same as Husqvarna. They are both produced by Electrolux of Sweden and are both good saws. I don’t know the sizing of the Jonsereds but if you find one that meets your needs I wouldn’t hesitate one bit to buy it. Just one other idea is check out Dolmar chainsaws. I have good friend that runs them and he can’t say enough good about them.
L&M Fleet in Bemidji, Grand Rapids, and Park Rapids have them for $749.99 everyday for the lodge pro xt.
I know this is kind of a rant but you would think for the money you pay this issue would have gotten fixed. I had the same issue with a cottage last year and also my lodge from 3 years ago. I like the fishouses tremendously but I think some quality control practices need to be put in place and have this issue resolved. For that $900 to $1000 dollar range on a fishouse you shouldn’t have to make any fixes out of the box in my opinion.
