I disagree. A good frost free freezer should be able to hold beef for over a year. Pork for about 6-9 months. Items with sugar or salt(bacon, ham, popcicles, ect)should be used in 90-120 days. Going back to the old frosty freezers ya lose alot of its power saving features. The defrost cycles on modern freezers are so short and often that it doesn’t require the interior temp to rise even to noticable levels.Frost itself is what is a major contributor of freezer burn. The new freezers now days have ozone friendly freon that is very effient. Don’t go back to the stone age when ya need to empty your freezer often, warm it up to melt ice balls. Go modern!
I would take one into Menards or Home Depot some place that sells building materials and ask them to match it as close as possible. I don’t know who made it orignally but chances are they would not have that same one in the same lot # it was. Just try to find one that is as close as you can to the ones that are on your house. Good luck!
It is extremely frustrating. In my observation it is usually the old timers doing this kind of crap too (Old timer meaning mid 60’s and older). And I am not saying all of the old timers do this!!! Back in the day there were no regs or limits so they weren’t taught catch and release. Plus what ever the caught they ate no waste, where as today there are people that go out and catch limit after limit and throw them in the freezer. Just to eat some of the fish and majority go to waste do to freezer burn. Which brings up another question. I have a buddy that fishes a lot on a lot of different lakes! Obviously he catches fish, and I know what his freezer looks like! I have talked to him many times about how ignorant and wasteful he is but it goes in one ear and out the other. I have been considering turning him into the DNR but am having a hard time with it. What should I do?
I am 62 and and do not believe it is usually just us “old timers”. I have seen many “youngsters” do the same thing!
I’m confused! If you put info from the Contour software on a sd card does it transfer the map also or do you need a Lakemaster card for the area also. If so how would you put both cards in? I have a Lowrance H2O C
For me it is just my wife and I, so I keep 6 or 7 ,that is enough for a meal for us . I try to only keep sunnies that are between 7 and 8 inches. I use icefishing instead of our freezer. I know everyone is different, that is just how I do it.
I have a fiberglass boat that I leave in the water tied to the dock all season. For the last 4 years or so when I took it out it was covered with them about 1 inch deep all over the bottom. I took it out last Friday to get ahead of the rising water of the Mississippi here in La Crosse and there was not even 1 on the boat! Can’t figure that out!
I have a buddy that just recently bought an older boat with a force 85 on it. currently it is only running on 2 of the 3 cylinders. does anyone know what could be causing this?
I have had the same problem, fish is always to salty for me. Bradley Smoker forums seem to agree that the salt is for keeping a long time, and if you are going to keep in fridge and eat soon just put on the spices you like and marinate overnight. I am going to try this with a northern next time I find one willing to bite!
