Hard to believe Arctic Cat quit making them. They were the perfect fishing sled.

Does anyone know the actual rationale behind the action? Is it restoring an earlier treaty or something similar?
The 1 mile buffer zone around the lake was a surprise to me, lots of homes, businesses, heck most of Waskish falls within that area.

Massacre Island is named after the unfortunate events surrounding massacre of 21 French who had left Fort St Charles on a supply run. They were intercepted and massacred on what is to believed to be this island in 1736. Quite an interesting story, some of it can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_Island_(Ontario)

I’ve broken a few over the years, best story is on a 46″ XH Slugger on a lake trout ice fishing. Approximately 5 seconds into the first spot of the day, set the hook on a decent laker and the handle exploded at the reel seat. Cork shrapnel everywhere, rod one way, handle another, reel another direction. Good times!

We have 2 small munsterlanders, got them from Prairie Peak Kennels by Ottertail. Can’t recommend the breed or breeder enough. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

XLT will be a 600 triple, if kept tuned its a good engine. The trail is a 488 fan, probably the most reliable engine Polaris ever put in a snowmobile. I’d say $1500/ea would be fair.

ESPN+ Won’t get you anything that’s on Bally if you’re local, all blacked out.

I used to watch most Twins games, now I haven’t sat down to watch one in years, what a shame.

Resurrecting an old post here. I like to fish outside in fairly cold temps for lakers. Is there a braid that doesn’t soak up water? The garbage I use now expands in size when it’s frozen so when it dries out it is loose on the spool. not to mention the huge pia when it’s frozen solid and i’m trying to fish.

Anyone looking for the Livescope ducer? Can sell with or without black box. Thinking $475 for ducer only? We can talk price for ducer and box.

Yeah, we’ve been seeing moose up there pretty consistently on the trail cams & if you go out in the winter you see the tracks in the snow. Surprised by the size of this one though, hadn’t seen a bigger bull before.

Thanks Grouse, good tips. Right now our problem is there are very few deer around, hoping to help attract & hold some in the area. Thanks!

For those of you that have used panoptix, what is the depth range where you can still see a decent sized spoon? I know for Livescope it is effective down to about 70-80′. Beyond that you can see fish for a bit but not your jig. I’ve heard that the range is better with panoptix but not specifics, anyone here have experience?

i see these are 7ah but the site says lasts 4x as long as SLA. So that being said, would this be a good replacement for a 9ah SLA on a garmin or humminbird ice set up? (Not livescope or 360, just traditional 2D)

Agreed with a lot of what is in here, and very happy to see that people are starting to take notice, I can only hope the DNR is paying attention as well.

The walleye limit is already 4 on LOW on the US side, Ontario and Manitoba are generally at 2 but there are other license options available up there.

The protected slot has definitely done it’s job as there are far more “trophy” fish now than prior to the slot being put in. The problem is that there isn’t a lower limit such as 13-14″ for walleye. As has been stated in this thread, there are a ton of 12″ limits going home all winter long.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that the DNR estimated in excess of 4 million angling hours this past winter season, over 4 times the summer pressure. Something I haven’t seen addressed on this thread is why resorts or landowners around the lake are allowed to create, maintain, & get rich off of roads on a public resource. Can I take my D9 Cat out to Beltrami and make a road from Norris Camp to Red Lake to give hunters better access to the Big Bog? Of course not, but what’s the difference? Why are we standing by and letting people get rich while destroying a public resource? The couple commenters here that said the resorts up here have a lot of clout have hit the nail on the head, I’m just guessing that they have no idea how huge that issue is.

I do this for ice fishing, just throw it on the big buddy rack. Nothing beats a good warm meal. Also do a lunch burrito the same way.

I’m on year 3 with mine, never noticed an issue in the cold. I do fish inside most of the time, but spend a fair amount outside as well.

The General has the Turf mode, on all models and trim levels. It does not have an AC option, but there are full cabs and heat options from Polaris and other aftermarket companies as well. The General has a bit more horsepower and a touch higher top speed and the ride is definitely better, but it is much less of a work horse, that’s for sure. I’d drive them both and see what you like better, can’t go wrong with either.
