What kind of material support should I use to support the floor? I have been on tiny boat nation and it’s hard to tell what they are using for supports and how to anchor those supports. I’ve also seen someone use wood, but thought that might be too heavy to use… not sure.

Also it’s a 24v trolling motor system so I need to accommodate 2 batteries.

    Question…

I’m looking into getting a deadstick for my “deadstick” hole at Lake of the Woods.

Do you guys still use a foam bobber or do you rely on watching the tip load up and then set the hook? Or maybe I need to get a baitfeeder reel and use that with a bobber? Just curious what everyone is doing or maybe everyone does something different??

My set-up now is I use a medium pole with a foam bobber, which seems to work ok, but if I can increase my hook-up percentage then I would be all for it. **It just sits in a rod holder/tipdown(Dangler).

Sorry if this hijacking the thread, but I thought with all the deadsticking experts on this thread that this would be the place to ask.

    Thanks!

I lost the whole pole somewhere on the lake. So I will need both the pole and the connector. The pole I lost is the female one since the other one has a male beveled end that slips into the pole that I lost. Another option is for me to replace both the male and female one if I can get close to the right length that I need.

Thanks so much for the suggestions…

Borderview. We have always done well and the heated bathrooms are a nice touch. *Although maybe they all do that.

I’ve only stayed at Borderview and Zipple (sleepers only)

Don’t over think it… just get YouTube TV and be done. If you care about local channels, get YouTube TV. You get 4,5,9,11 plus unlimited DVR for $40. (Plus Fox Sports, NBC Sports Network, ESPN, etc) You can even try it for a week for free too. Plus, you can get the Youtube TV App on your phone and watch TV from your boat :=)

**Also, I have just 30 MBps download at home and it seems to work just fine for streaming one TV at a time. Haven’t tried two.

I had Sling before but it was missing a lot of local channels.

Let me know if anyone has any questions. I know it’s hard to make the jump, but I haven’t looked back at it’s been almost a year.

*I should add that I do use the Roku Ultra which makes it nice to navigate, pause live tv, and I think it all seems to stream better than using my built-in SmartTV app.

Don’t forget about Borderview. I’ve stayed in their sleeper houses (4 man) 10×20, the past 3 years and I think they are the most comfortable (bring your own chair though) and have the most room. 4 years ago I stayed in a sleeper through Zippel, which was nice, but I like Borderview’s sleepers better. Fishing was the same at both places. Zippel does have an ice bar I believe though, if it’s still out. Those are the only 2 I’ve tried so I can’t speak for the rest. I’ve always thought about trying somewhere else, but just haven’t yet. Good luck!

I believe the target separation is different too. 1/2 to 3/4 or something close to that.

I have the same problem with my Lazer Mag. Although, my auger is probably about 7-8 years old. I bought new blades and it didn’t help. I have yet to find a solution. Anyway, I took it into DRock to have it serviced and to look at the pitch but that still didn’t really help. I’ve always used fresh gas and winterized it in the spring. Maybe I will have to try the things that Mr Walleye and others have mentioned and see where that goes. Just wish I was a little more “mechanically inclined” to figure out these things though.

I believe that is normal judging by the response from glenn-d from another thread.

He said, “Just put my Marcum Shuttle together and noticed after charging it up that it runs 12.7 volts while the Dakota Lithium we got in the buyers group runs 13.4”

Baffin Apex will be the next pair of boots I own. I’ve read numerous other threads about winter boots on this forum and it seems like you really can’t go wrong with Baffin Apex. Even James wears them! I’m a size 10 and I plan on getting the 12’s since I wear just a thick wool sock with my winter boots. (you want that extra room to keep your feet warm)

I’ve always struggled with cold feet since I was a kid and these Baffin’s sound like the real deal.

    Good luck!

First, I just wanted to say, “Thank you” to biggill posting this. This got the ball rolling for me and I have now cut the cord. It’s only been 2 weeks but so far I’ve been very happy. (saving over $100 a month) Long story short… I went with SlingTV (blue package), DVR cloud service(50 hrs) for an extra $5 a month and used the coupon on their site to get the Roku Ultra for $50. *Very close to going with YouTube TV though
    ——————————————————————————–
    Longer story here :

I just wanted to post some gotchas/things to look out for that I found after doing a little research on these 3:
    Sling TV
    YouTube TV
    PlayStation Vue

I’m sure there are a lot more, but these were some of the things I noticed as it pertained to me and more importantly my wife. (2 kids)

    Sling TV

2 different packages. Blue and Orange
Blue – doesn’t have ESPN but has Fox Sports, NFL Network
Orange – Has ESPN and Disney Channel but doesn’t have Fox Sports
*You can get both packages but it will cost you more.

DVR service only offers 50 hours of recording time.

No local channels really, but I was able to record This is Us and a few other NBC shows my wife watches, you can also watch through NBC on-demand. Fox is also available. We have an HDTV air antenna to make up for this. If this is a concern. YouTube TV might be a better choice

I don’t believe they have ABC or CBS either

YouTube TV: *I was very close to going with this one too

Roku doesn’t work with YouTube TV (need Chromecast or something else) I believe YouTube will send you a free Chromecast with signup
    No HGTV yet
Have both ESPN and FOX Sports
Has better local channels than Sling.
No limit on DVR /saves shows for 9 months
    Have CBS and ABC
    Sony Vue ~

Didn’t research too much. A little more expensive than the Youtube/Sling route

I haven’t had this happen to mine yet, but wanted to be proactive about it.

I was told, “It was a sporadic few that had this issue due to the finishing paint. Not all augers were affected by this. If you do however encounter this please let us know.”

Mine does look to be flat black though and not high gloss. I’ve only used it in temps down to about 15F. I guess I just need to get out there when it’s real cold and see if it happens…?? Seems like they should be able to tell off my serial number though and I shouldn’t have to wait for it to ice up.

I bought mine mid Dec. It’s been an awesome auger though so far!

I have the same problem. I bought new blades and it didn’t really help. I have yet to find a solution. I called my local hardware store which is an authorized Strikemaster repair shop but they only really service the engine. He did recommend that I make sure that my power point is sharp. You can either sharpen them or buy them new for about $15-20. I’m going to start there but then I think I will have to take it in to DRock to have it serviced if that doesn’t work. Although, it sounds like that’s not a real good place to have them look at it, but is my only choice here in MN.

My dad recently bought a Crestliner 1850 Sportfish with a 4 stroke 150 Mercury. 2013 I think. Super quiet! I’m pretty much the only one that uses it as I’m an avid fisherman and I also like to water-ski and barefoot. For skiing, the wake is really really nice. I’ve skied behind MasterCraft and Moomba and I think it’s just as nice as some of those. *Not sure if you ski or not or if your daughters ski, but I thought I would mention it.

Fishing, it has the rod storage underneath which we never had with our older boat. (also a Crestliner). Super Nice!! Also has a nice flat platform to stand on in the back by the motor, which I love to fish from. The boat didn’t have the guides where you can clip rod holders to it, but I think Crestliner has those for the 2014 and 2015 models. I asked the sales rep if the motor would slow down enough to troll, and he said it would, but I was only able to get it down to 2.3 mph so you might need a kicker or use a bow mounted trolling motor.

I haven’t taken it out to Mille Lacs or big water though so I’m not sure how it would do out there, although it does chop our neighbors Wake Setter wakes pretty well. I did see a couple of Crestliner’s sportfish boats on Mille Lacs when I was there last year though, so it must be enough of a boat.

    Good Luck!

The board that the motor mounts to. Is that not the transom board? Sorry, if I’m using the wrong terms here. I found a pic to help describe what I’m talking about.

Thanks. I checked EBay before I posted the topic. The link you sent is from 2 years ago and the item has been sold.

Where did you pick up your Vexilar/Marcum case that you mounted it too?

Not sure if this is the same area that you are looking in, but I went fishing out of AJ’s walleye lodge. I believe they sell bait. walleyelodge.com

What size and type of swivel or snap were you using when fishing with the blade baits? I usually fish with a ball bearing swivel when using blade baits but was wondering if just a certain type of snap would do the trick as well…?? Thanks!
