I was interested too. I don’t believe the Croix is one that follows under the new regulations which is unfortunate.
+1 for the Baffin Impacts. Great on the sled, ice fishing and in the stand. normally wear an 11 to 11 1/2. Purchased the 12s. Great pair of boots
Bde Maka Ska has active springs in deep areas around 50ft+ Be cognizant of these areas regardless of time of year and ice depth.
Start by fishing the edge of the beach areas. Natural transitions created by the treated sand area to flat to deeper water…
Plant is running. Warm water flowing. 14-16″ in stable areas. I have about 10 sturgeon landed this year with a 53″ being the biggest. Most have come out of Anderson point. Base of the break. Throw a dart and you catch them anywhere. Typically move closer to the warm water as it flows. If you’re willing to move spots watch for bait balls on the graph. I’ve always tried to target areas conducive to high production fish areas in general. More than anything time on the water will produce. Extremely boring and non-visual fishing but I can tell you guiding a few friends this year to their PB sturgeon was extremely rewarding. Tight Lines!
I’m running the 1000 Ceymar on the TUCR dead stick. Nice paring. Not quite the slow load up as I was expecting but with the feeder it works well.
Wait until may and go for tarpon and snook inshore. Offshore you can get a good fight with a Goliath or trolling for Sails but if your planning to go in the spring stick to tarpon. Be warned. You’ll catch your first and no other fishing will matter back in the Midwest. Enjoy your time in Florida.
Hopefully the people who find your rods are better than the people who took one single boot off the ice after it fell out of my sled earlier this year….. Same situation, it was on the way out, and only on the ice for 15-20 mins tops…. Someone took it and I have scoured the internet and all sites for anything. Apparently they needed a left foot Lacrosse
Appreciate the story Dex. Rods are one thing but to steal one boot fully knowing it’s useless by itself is another.. just dumb..
NO FACEBOOK
My Kinda of guy
Now let me really blow your mind.. I am under the age of thirty.. lol in all seriousness though 99% of the time I wouldn’t want facebook but in this instance it would be handy to have I suppose.. so far my search has yeilded nothing but scammers on Craigslist. Trying a couple bait shops today and going from there. It’s negative I know but whoever picked them up more than likely had no intention of helping.. I was one of the only people walking out from lakeside at that moment and I went no further than Anderson’s point and was on the ice for no more than 20 min. Is what it is I suppose. Sucks because the croix is about the only place I dedicate time to and now all I’m going to want to do out there is ask around if they’ve found my rods lol..
Appreciate all the great advice here. Went back this morning and surprisingly lakeside park was full at first light. Crappies must be hitting well right now…
The only reason I had all my rods with was I was planning for a long sit hoping to stumble across a sturgeon and was planning to rig the rods for the season to pass the time..
Unfortunately I don’t have Facebook or Instagram but I do have posts currently here, lake state fishing and Craigslist.. if you guys know of anywhere else worth posting let me know..
Rods were 3 st.croix glass jigging rods, 2 13’s and one siren custom. All with siennas.
