I have rented with just about every outfit. Cookies and First city guides would be my first 2 calls in that order.

What a disappointing final day to my rut vacation. I set up in a pinch yesterday afternoon, that I have had soaking for awhile. After the stand is set I swapped the cards and got into the tree. After a couple hours I remembered I grabbed that card and checked the photos. To my surprise there was daylight buck pics ever for the last 5 of 6. I didn’t see anything last night but figured I would do an all day sit today. I have been sitting all day except for 30 min lunch break and stretch. Two roosters is all I have seen. Oh well, still plenty of season left and weather l[ks mild foreseeable future.

It’s been a busy morning. I had deer on the field on the way in. Since I got in the tree I’ve had two does, a fork, a 6, and a really nice young 9 point go by.

You must be in the right spot. I am not, only a dreaded yote this morning. 1.5 days left for me.

I do not shoot a crossbow, but i would look into a steel outsert for the bolt. Ethics archery might make them.

Justin at least you were able to salvage the rack on that guy. Crazy how fast he was eaten

They are definitely a problem where I am hunting. I shot doe last year and recovered her 2 hours later. They already were on her when I got to her. Thankfully they only got some hide.

hope you took that rack thats a nice buck.

I did and actually he was only like 50 yards from a cam I checked. Here is is alive. I am guessing he was shot Friday or saturday.

I scouted the morning and found a good spot to sit Wednesday. Also found a dead 10 point. Someone must have gut shot it and could not find it. Coyotes did though. Afternoon sit I saw two does. One fed around me in the swamp for 20 minutes. She caught my ground trail in and bird dogged me ending up right below me. I kept as still as possible and she bounded 20 yards away. Meeting up with the other doe and walking away. I don’t think she ever fully got me. I scouted like 4 hours and I did not run into much sign. Cams are picking up some new bucks though.

Had a spike at 14 yards last night, back in the stand this morning. Unfortunately there was a deer right below it when I got to it.

    JUST SHOT A NICE BUCK!!!!!!

I think it was the bigger one I saw earlier. I saw him 75 yards away on his feet in some thick stuff and gave him a grunt. He turned and came right through the funnel, stopped at 20 yards and made a scrape with brush in my way. I was at full draw for a minute and had to let down doah

Then he turned and got back on the deer trail, I drew back again and gave him a “meah” at 15 yards broadside!

    Saw him go down!

    Congratulations

Seen just one small buck. It looked like he was heading into bed. Nothing else since.

I love this weather and you just need to be in stand when it stops. As long as you can deal with the weather when that break happens can be some of the best hunting.

I’m with you on that. Tonight would be a great night to sit. Damn kids have to trick or treat though. And I have to drive the hay ride. Boo hoo.

I have the kids tonight too, but then 7 days off for rut. I am like a kids on Christmas eve right now.

I have points in AZ and WY i think 5 in each maybe 6 now in AZ with the loyalty. I too do not have anyone to go with though. I also apply for NM every year, because why not. i usually do muzzleloader for that one.

Nfl officiating is rigged…. change my opinion

If that call wasn’t missed, the Vikings easily win by 10 as I predicted earlier in this thread. Damn officiating.

You can say what you want buy that was a terrible no call. No matter how bad they played first and ten from the 25 still gives them chance instead of the dagger.

Crazy how many third down penalties the Vikings defense has committed to let the lowly Rams keep rolling.

Yet Jjs 1 handed catch the guy was grabbing all over him and no flag.

Yeah who knows. He could have injured something else but its definitely starting to get concerning. If he goes on LTIR at some point then we can have fun like Vegas and Tampa.

We aren’t gonna do anything with his LTIR money other than maybe trade for a cheap Vet on an expiring contract…our

I do not know how it works but what if he went on LTIR this year and then retired early, would we get any cap space back? We do lose Suter Parise Money next year so that would leave us the ability to keep someone we sign this year no?

I don’t recall what year exactly but I remember deer hunting opening weekend with high’s in the upper 60’s then 11in of snow before second weekend. Things can and do change in a hurry but a normal fall would be nice. I don’t like going from summer to winter in a week.

I remember that year too and it wasn’t all that long ago. Maybe 10 years ago? It was so cold I put a big buddy heater in our pop up blind and on full bore it barely made it warmer. The trees were popping too it was so cold.

It was only 4 years ago I believe. 70 opening weekend and snow by Wednesday

Anyone seeing much territory being marked yet? Between home, and up north this weekend, it has been pretty weak rubs and few to no scrapes for me.

I have had a cam in spot since the beginning of Sept and just finally Saturday was the first buck making a scrap on perennial scrape tree. My cams have just started picking up in the last week. I have Friday as half day and hoping it is a good day looks to be cooler.

    Perhaps. Valid points.

I don’t ever remember anyone specifically targeting smallmouth until about the mid 2000’s though. Never. I know I certainly didn’t. Not to say they weren’t in there, but certainly the popularity of that in the past 15 years because of clearing/warming water has been obvious.

They were there in big numbers as far as i remember in the late 90s. I remember one afternoon when the wind was blowing into Indian point me and my dad caught over 100 smallies cast the shoreline and one of them was around 21 inches.

The quota is set jointly at the outset of every year by the DNR and eight Ojibwe bands with fishing rights on Mille Lacs.

Fixed the end of the press release. Not sure how anyone could take the DNR’s role in management seriously after the supposed harvest #’s reported from last year.

I was going to say the same thing. there is no co-management, the DNR just sets state regulations within the parameters they are allowed by the tribes.

    Not in Carver I hope.

Yup, very near Carver. The Mayor had a video of one last year right in town on top of the hill, and someone in my neighborhood had it in their backyard recently too. Pretty sure I know where it’s spending most of its time and we are probably hunting the same deer.

Pretty sure those and Grizzly Bears are the only 2 animals that would give 2nd thoughts of hunting alone.

and they also got the 10 second runoff applied due to the timing of the penalty.

They didnt have a 10 second runoff the ref even said that he called timeout.

They used up a timeout to avoid the 10 sec runoff. if you watch the replay he was running on the sidelines and then on the field with his hands in the air but not in a timeout motion.

My favorite was the dumb pack er coach jumping on the field like a baby and get the flag thrown on him. What a moron. Everything worked out perfect for the vikings. The got a dub and have a bunch of tape to watch and improve upon. The packers are sucking wind and can look forward to the draft.

He was signaling for a timeout but you could not see that because the reefs head was in the way. The flag was picked up.

He was not signaling a timeout he was throwing a temper tantrum because they were not reviewing the play before. He almost cost them a gimme touchdown, but Love made a nice throw the next play.

Nice job Michael and good luck BC, definitely looks like liver. Too bad itbis not colder and you could leave it until morning. I only had small doe come through at last light and there was no way I was shooting her a mile back in a swamp.
