The likely answer is he knows this team isn’t ready for a playoff run yet and didn’t want to burn major assets…

Exactly right. You can’t have a Bill Gurin 7-year plan if you pull a Win Now move in Year 3 to try to make a playoff run.

I think all of us Great Hockey Minds know how this works, but for those of you who don’t, you got your basic Guerin 7-year plan. If you push the Win Now button before year 4, that leaves you with 4 non-reclaimable years left on your plan. Which, by GM Rules, means Guerin would be looking for a job in just 36 short months.

But if he waits until Year 4, then he can reclaim the original 4 years as an OCBE (Organizational Culture Building Exercise) and that resets the 7-year clock, thus negating the first 4 years because they weren’t “failures”, they were successes when it comes to hopefully winning at some future point. Maybe. But who cares? As long as we have GM job security, that’s as good as winning.

Maybe I am wrong but Billy G doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that is content just having a job. Also there is better GM jobs in the NHL then in MN and I am sure if he was fired he would be hired pretty quickly. What move has he made that he has lost out on? The guy has been doing the job with an arm tied around his back (you can say it was his own doing, but he didn’t sign those guys). To me he has 2 years to make the Wild cup contenders and I hopeful we are on the way already.

The East Grand Forks – Hibbing game was wild. That should be a fun A championship tomorrow.

We went out of my friend’s cabin, but we saw trucks that came from the NE side so I assume they came from Castaways.

Thanks – they posted they were pulling thier bridges Sunday. I will have to call up there and see if they decided to keep them out.

Great day out there today. It took two hours to find them, but once we did it was game on. We kept 31 between the two of us in 3 hours before we had to head home. Here are the first 10 out of one hole before we had to start bouncing around and picking a few off at a time.

What Access did you go out of ? I was hoping to get out this weekend as Hockey finally ended for my son, but i see more resorts are closing their accesses.

The other thing that will make easier for them to stay in the playoffs is their schedule. Only 7 of the next 21 games are against current playoff teams. I really wish they would make a move, but it is looking like they are waiting for next year to do that.

How about this idea, Metro Section Finals at the X or Mariucci during the week? Tell me those wouldn’t be close to sellouts for the top matchups. Plus they could more easily televise them, like they do in Duluth at the DECC.

I think that is great idea and I am sure they could be close to sell outs.

Only 2 section final games left in class AA. Class A is all done.

Cretin vs St. Thomas in section 3, and Hill Murray vs Stillwater in section 4.

The brackets for the state tournament will be revealed tomorrow.

Fixed it – should be a couple of really good games.

Wow Thankfully the SW pilot was fully of aware of the surroundings and aborted that landing. Either traffic control or the private jet captain severely messed up taxiing across an active runway. The SW should be given a medal for saving hundreds of lives.

    Who’s gonna dethrone the Hornets?

Wayzata may be the biggest obstacle there. In the same section too.

It is pretty wide open and should be great Tournament. Moorhead would be the favorites, but very close is Hill, St. Thomas/Cretin, Rogers.

Maybe you guys can enlighten me on this, but my brother in law discussed this over the weekend.

If Snuggerud plays his senior year with the U he becomes a UFA next year. With all the talent that comes out of MN and now we have NIL rules for the NCAA, why don’t we have a big time donor make a payment to guys like him to keep him here Then it gives the Wild a chance to sign them.

It is Utterly ridiculous that we churn out so many NHL players, but have never won a cup.

The Blues GM is on record saying Snuggerud will sign his ELC the day after the Gophers season is over…

He would have been a great pick for the Wild and they really wanted him, Blues took him right before us and we settled for Ohgren…

Do the Blues control that or could he say thanks but no thanks? Someone gives him a mil to play his senior year and then he can come and play for the hometown team? I know if my kid was in his position I would be exploring the that option. Being stuck on the blue or coming to a team that will have money and the best young D core in the NHL it seems. This Wasn’t possible a couple years ago, but NIL could allow this to happen. I already see he is doing commercials for one of the local news channels.

In Wisconsin, where CWD is more prevalent than in Minnesota, scientists recently reported that long-term prevalence of the disease has potential to reduce deer populations”

Yea I read through the report and when you open up the seasons and have sharpshooters killing more deer the population is reduced. Over everything I have read through there has been only one dead deer found in MN to test positive, that wasn’t shot or hit by a car.

I am still not convinced CWD is anything to be dumping this much time and energy into.

Also, Buium. Will he or won’t he? Imagine putting Brodin, Spurgeon, Faber, Middleton, AND Buium on the ice last night. Totally different result.

Jiricek again looked good last night imo, so projecting out next season’s D core you’re looking at

Even though he cost us a goal with the “penalty” he took he did look good out there when he played. They definitely played the 3rd pairing alot less. How Merill keeps his job is mind blowing.

Also it seemed that Edmonton was just toying with the Wild, they have another gear they can use when they needed it and without some of our best players we were lucky Edmonton let us stay in it as long as we did.

This Snow did not affect the ice at all. I would be more worried what the upcoming warm spell and rain could do.

I could see the Vikings Franchise tagging Darnold no matter what as we could then trade him and get something in return.

That crack will be heave mountain after this wild wind.

I still haven’t heard where the crack is. No one else is talking about it except Cookie. Anyone know?

Sam Sobi Posted a video out of red lake remote. I am not sure when he was fishing but he filmed a crack that was forming and was 4 inches wide by time they were leaving. I am sure it closed up again yesterday with south winds, but could open again today with the north winds.

Grouse maybe you should try a more country setting. We went Sal’s in Withrow on Saturday and the service was impeccable. It is not fine dining, but it is good Homemade food.

That’s my question. Does the MN Faithful support blindly letting this guy walk if he gets you to the NFC Championship Game/SB or even wins the franchise’s first Lombardi trophy?

    Yes,

Darnold was good/great the first 5 games or so, the last 6 serviceable/liability. He is just an average QB and i wouldn’t hamstring the other needed positions by paying for Darnold more then we are this year. Maybe I will be wrong, but I do not see him ever living up to whatever next contract he signs.

I am more concerned on keeping B Flo and his defense around.

If they go to/win the Superbowl they could go 0-16 the next 5 years and i wouldn’t care.

What a disappointing final day to my rut vacation. I set up in a pinch yesterday afternoon, that I have had soaking for awhile. After the stand is set I swapped the cards and got into the tree. After a couple hours I remembered I grabbed that card and checked the photos. To my surprise there was daylight buck pics ever for the last 5 of 6. I didn’t see anything last night but figured I would do an all day sit today. I have been sitting all day except for 30 min lunch break and stretch. Two roosters is all I have seen. Oh well, still plenty of season left and weather l[ks mild foreseeable future.

It’s been a busy morning. I had deer on the field on the way in. Since I got in the tree I’ve had two does, a fork, a 6, and a really nice young 9 point go by.

You must be in the right spot. I am not, only a dreaded yote this morning. 1.5 days left for me.

Justin at least you were able to salvage the rack on that guy. Crazy how fast he was eaten

They are definitely a problem where I am hunting. I shot doe last year and recovered her 2 hours later. They already were on her when I got to her. Thankfully they only got some hide.

I scouted the morning and found a good spot to sit Wednesday. Also found a dead 10 point. Someone must have gut shot it and could not find it. Coyotes did though. Afternoon sit I saw two does. One fed around me in the swamp for 20 minutes. She caught my ground trail in and bird dogged me ending up right below me. I kept as still as possible and she bounded 20 yards away. Meeting up with the other doe and walking away. I don’t think she ever fully got me. I scouted like 4 hours and I did not run into much sign. Cams are picking up some new bucks though.
