if you come to la crosse, which i know you make a couple trips here during the ice season, take it to battery mart, let me know when you come and i can explain to you where it is.

I got out today to check out out crappie hole,I had a good feeling that the fish would be fairly agressive before the cold front that is suppose to move in tonight, I had action within the first 5 minutes of being there. The hot baits were jigging spoons and a diamond jig with a plastic or waxie. I had 2 12’s and 1 12 1/2 and many 11-11 1/2 inch fish today. In the end I got around 25 keepers, and they were all released Overall, it was an enjoyable day on the ice.

Here are some pics(sorry they were on my cell when I was alone)

I use a 7’6” Daiwa Light and tough medium heavy, and that is exactly what it says, light and tough.

Thanks guys, man did that ever rekindle the fire that was slowly going out, I was in a little bit of depression due to the tough fishing this year, and I really needed a good day on the ice, which as you can see I did. Now I can’t wait to get back out there and find more areas with zero pressure with monster panfish!

Have fun out there, Justin Panno

Overall I would have to say a swedish pimple(or any jigging spoon for that matter)for both species any day of the week, I feel that even on the most sluggish days a spoon can excel if you present it the right way, but if that doesn’t work, i will find myself using a dropper rig, and you can’t go wrong with a diamond jig/gill pill with a plastic or a waxie on it

Call me cheap, but the rods I like the best are the Ice Blues from HT. I have 4 of them and love them.

they are well worth the 7 to 10 dollars

that could be it Luke, I am still going to give the gill pill another chance I have a lot of faith in that little thing, i just have to give it another chance, but another thing i have to note is a lot of the fish i was catching were really small gills so that also could have been the problem

the diamond jig was my “go to” jig and it still is, i used the gill pill for the first time last saturday and I had a bad hook up ratio, but then I used the diamond jig and i got mostly every fish that hit, but i know that the ‘gill pill will have a great day, but it won’t take the diamond jigs place.

the ice blues rod by HT is by far my favorite ice rod, i am a big jigging spoon guy in the winter months and i have yet to find a rod that matches it, except fot the frabill alpine rod.
