I have a cabin in the ceded area and the natives usually throw in some fish when we do our stocking with the association. So in this case they are replacing some fish. Alot more than 75% of the other shore owners who don’t contribute.

Thanks for the report not sure what the negativity is all about.
February 15, 2013 at 12:37 am #1141988Live fatheads or rainbows is all you will need. You can get both in baudette.
February 15, 2013 at 12:34 am #1141986Couple of dnr reefs near warroad/springsteel area accessible by truck. Most truck accessible reefs located near rocky point. More reefs up north but you would need a sled. Gold and glow red have always been my go to colors.
February 14, 2013 at 2:41 am #1141607I’m relatively new to the nav app but i have a droid and i have had a tough time downloading maps as well, i have to download multiple times before it works. I usually download blocks of lakes just in case i have to bump around. The app store informs me when an update is available and i’m hoping lakes i have downloaded are updated automatically. If anybody knows different please let me know.
January 21, 2013 at 11:26 am #1133057Some monster perch have been caught the last couple weekends while jigging for eyes.

I am not a great walleye fisherman but when I’m ice fishing for them, the biggest 5 walleyes I’ve caught have come in 2-4 feet of water.
I agree 100%, especially after dark. We fish a clearwater lake with tip ups and the shallower holes will give out some giants well into the middle of the night.January 16, 2013 at 3:10 pm #1131384We went out of lp saturday during the big blow. Slowest day I have had out there ever. Good to see you had better luck. We ended up fishing 16 mile and mud the other days with good success lots of slots swimming around out there!
October 6, 2012 at 10:00 pm #1103377This show has been horrible for sometime now. I have dish network so gillespie is really the only show i watch anymore.
July 25, 2011 at 1:22 pm #983548Tough fishing for us last week. The fish are out there but getting them to bite was tough. Best action we had was at baileys from 5-7 am and then from 7-9 pm. Best day was three fish, mostly ones and twos. Green flasher/fly was our go to bait. Gills was dead, we fished two nights graphing massive amounts of baitfish, but didn’t get one hook up. Lots of people out there too, but didn’t see anyone reeling anything in. As we were on our way out it sounded like fishing was getting better around the bank. Good luck, once those fish digest all the baitfish from the last couple weeks there should get going again.
June 30, 2011 at 1:27 pm #977444Thanks for the info guys,we will get out a little earlier this year. Will be coming up in two weeks and will give a report when I get back. We camp around baileys so we do most of our fishing there, but usually head up to gills once or twice during the week. Good luck on your upcoming trips and let us know how you do.
June 29, 2011 at 7:53 pm #977268How deep were you fishing out there? I have tried Gills a couple of times, haven’t had any good luck during the day but the evening bite can be hot.
February 8, 2011 at 8:44 pm #935200I picked up a 14 and 13.5 two weeks ago off of springsteel. I have never really caught numbers but the size is unreal. Everyone who posted is right, I would say from the arneson reef area to warroad/springsteel is your best bet for perch.
November 12, 2010 at 8:07 pm #909310Not sure about the resorts, but if you wanted to catch a pike out of lotw come up last ice, from mid march to beginning of april. Set up tip ups anywhere from 5-7 feet of water including the ice, I fish in between warroad and rocky point. People typically use live suckers, dead herring or dead smelt. if you want any other info let me know, lotw is a great lake for gigantic pike.
August 10, 2010 at 2:10 pm #892216How would a guy target kings near the south shore? I have been going to lake michigan for a while now, but haven’t been able to dial in on the kings on lake superior. fishing lakers is fun, but catching a couple of kings would definitely make the trip. Thanks for any info and good luck fishing.
May 21, 2010 at 5:47 pm #873786The same thing happened to me down on pool 4, now everytime i see a boat planing towards me i tend to freak out. Just cause you can see the boat doesn’t mean he/she can clearly see you.
March 16, 2010 at 10:20 pm #854268September was real good up here on LOTW this year. Trophy walleye, pike and perch. Running lead core over mud flats. Like others have said though, it can get choppy at times.
March 5, 2010 at 9:30 pm #849828Anywhere in the mud right now has been real good. Was out last weekend and had a limit in less then a couple of hours.
February 8, 2010 at 10:06 pm #840802it depends on where your sleeper is set up. i went out of er wheelers last winter and they had there sleeper shacks set up shallow. we were in 17 fow. the bite kicked in around 230 and we caught our last walleye at 930. and then the ellpout started up and bit all night long. very fun time.
February 2, 2010 at 6:37 pm #838941I lived near ossawinamakee for a couple years while going to school up there. we fished out from the access on cty rd 39 if i remember correctly. we fished off of the creek that runs into the lake. had a awesome night there one time catching a 2,4, and 6 pound walleye with a couple of nice crappies thrown in. other nights were alot slower, so it was a hit or miss spot, but that sure was a great time.
January 28, 2010 at 3:27 pm #837351Machine is right, we were in a sleeper last feb, set up in 17 feet of water. we had walleyes biting very good until 730, with our last walleye of the night coming at 930. so it can happen.
January 6, 2010 at 2:25 pm #830197I picked up the new frabil orange lights a couple of weeks ago @ FF and have been very impressed with them. Last weekend I could see them very clearly even when a flag popped on the outskirts of my set up. Around ten dollars a light, but well worth it in my opinion since the cheap lights rarely last longer then a year. My dad has those same lights you are talking about, and these frabils are of much higher quality.
January 4, 2010 at 10:24 pm #829465You won’t need a camera, bring up the ol flasher and you will be all set.
December 29, 2009 at 3:32 pm #827540I was up last weekend fishing a lake south of grindstone/lco a couple of miles. There wasn’t much ice where i was, 4-5 inches at most, with 3-4 inches of snow on top. fishing was excellent though. Coming back up this weekend, hope to at least be able to snowmobile out, walking is tough with all the snow.
September 25, 2009 at 1:01 pm #806451My grandparents live on shell, and don’t forget about south bay. Growing up saw a 13 lb walleye come out of south bay, as well as lots of eater walleye, sunnies, pike and the occasional muskie. Have fun on this beautiful lake.
June 22, 2009 at 1:35 pm #785619Was up to the cabin june 17-21, fishing was excellent for walleyes, smallies, and pike. Our lake is extremely clear as well, with a secchi disk reading of 15 feet. leadcore during the day and night were productive, as long as we kept our lines right above the weeds. last day we fished weeds with live bait and pulled our biggest fish of the trip during the afternoon sun. as always a great vacation spot and great fishing.
May 29, 2009 at 1:13 pm #780247I moved to warroad two years ago and its been a great time. Best fishing in the state along with a ton of state land for hunting. Fish have been biting real good around rocky point is what I have heard lately. Have fun!!
May 17, 2009 at 4:40 pm #777383We make a trip every year in late july to baileys harbor with a 16 footer. You have to pick your days, some are just too rough, but when the weather lays down the fishing is great. last year we had kings, cohos, rainbows and even a laker, which is the first we have caught out there in 5 years of going. anywhere from 80-200 feet deep, which isn’t too far out of the harbor. anywhere from a mile out and farther, depending on the conditions.
May 13, 2009 at 4:05 pm #776374Had the best fishing of my life on sunday and monday, fishing the gap in 17 feet of water. 4 fish right at 28 inches. How long does this bite typically last?
