We opted to skip the woods and fish Leech on deer opener this past Saturday. Ours was the only boat in view most of the day (saw one fellow launching as we were pulling off). Thin pickings enough that this CO dropped out of the sky and paid us a visit. A little unnerving at first, as we had no idea why this plane had us lined up like he was taking us out.

Got tethered and went through the motions, then BS’ed for awhile. Given my background (retired now) and his 30-years, we had a lot of mutual acquaintances. He shared some good stories unique to his enforcement activities from the air.

First CO contact in years. (And fishing was slooooow.)

So… guessing my girl would still be out-of-bounds?

Still frames from the video, thus the facial expressions. Rdwheeler landed this 66″+ (measuring stick went no further) last weekend at the Sturgeon Excursion. A girthy beast to be sure; a real chunky girl. Met some great IDO folks up there.

I’m the “dad” that got talked into this. No biggie, as we fish Kabe & Rainy in the spring and fall. Not sure how many lads my son has recruited, but I will be bringing a 22′ deckboat converted to purely fishing with rough liveaboard accommodation (full camper enclosure, heat, sleeping space). At night I can anchor, push up in the weeds, nose up on shore, etc, but snagging a tie off somewhere so the boys can go ashore to hang with the IDO guys would be nice.
