Oh ok. I shouldn’t have jumped to the conclusion that it was a-fib. So it must be a VT ablation with EP study? But either way, the procedure is basically the same. But the time can be very variable as previously mentioned. You might be given a little extra sedation for this procedure just to be sure you’re comfortable. I’m sure it’ll go great for you.

I am a nurse on a cardiac and floor and take care of several pts with irregular heart rhythms, usually a-fib. The ablation is usually saved as the last intervention after heart rate control meds have failed as well as anti-arrhythmics. Or if the a-fib is severely symptomatic no matter what the heart rate is. There are different types of ablations as far as what area(s) the heart that are needed to be ablated. Usually an area of the atria (the top chambers of your heart) or an area within the pulmonary veins are the culprit in producing the irregular heart beat and need to be ablated. If you already have a pacemaker, they could do a A-V node ablation, but that’s a whole different story. The procedure involves inserting a catheter(s) through the femoral vein and artery located in the groin. You are given some sedation and pain meds during the procedure but you are awake enough that you can still answer questions during the procedure. The procedure itself generally has minor discomfort, usually being a pressure sensation in the groin where the catheters are inserted. The length of the procedure depends on heart rhythm. If its a-fib, I’ve seen tests go up to 5 hrs, but they are usually around 2-3 hrs on average. If its a-flutter, it’s usually a quick 1-2 hrs procedure. (Remember these are the usual times I see, but every pts procedure is unique). After the procedure the worst thing is having to endure bed rest for up to 4-5 hrs depending on the size of catheters they had to use. The femoral vein/arteries are big blood vessels and you don’t want to spring a leak from them with getting up too early. The best thing you can do is make sure you ask your Dr. all and any questions you have. It is the Dr responsibility to share with you all the potential complications and risk factors. As well as success rates. I hope this helped you out a little bit and isn’t too wordy as I just kept rambling on. Good luck with the procedure!
January 2, 2012 at 1:08 am #1023299I was out to silver creek last Wednesday. Set up the pop-up about 150 yards from shore. Had 8 inches of the clearest ice you can get! There were a lot of people out on the ice. There was a spot of open water at the north edge where the geese have kept it open. I can’t speak for any of the other ponds.
July 6, 2011 at 5:49 pm #978660I say “see ya Delmon” for maybe a prospective starting pitcher or bullpen reliever or perhaps a minor league prospective 1st basemen cuz idk how morneau is going to turn out. Right now we can’t get rid of cuddy cuz he has been a big part of our turn around thus far. Capps can go with Young for at least something, just about anything in return would be better than what we had. Once span/kubel returns the outfield will have to be span, revere, and kubel with cuddy at first since Hughes cant even come close to proving himself at the plate…. Just my $.02
June 4, 2011 at 12:43 am #970900I was using a small curtail that I had about 2.5 ft under a slip bobber. I would cast the bobber out there an then slowly, and I mean slow, reel it back in. All strikes occurred within 5 yards from shore. The reason why I had the bobber was so I could reel in slowly and still keep the lure off the bottom. I also used a small hair jig with similar results on previous outings. Generally speaking, the fish out there will hit just about anything, usually.
June 2, 2011 at 10:23 pm #970376Welcome! I had been to KR-7 earlier this year around the beginning of may and also ice fished it this winter for the first time. Generally you can catch pan fish one after another but they are all small with the infrequent “larger” one being caught. I fished silver creek reservoir yesterday for 2 hrs and caught and released about 15 crappies all 7-8 inches or greater with a perch and LBM mixed in… Good luck with your next fishing outing

NFL hall of fame you don’t declare a team to go into as….Only baseball if memory serves me right is where you declare a team to enter under….One less choice he has to make the better.
You’re right. In the NFL you just go in as a player and not of any particular team… Didn’t know that, but learn something new everyday…
January 15, 2011 at 3:31 pm #926565Yay Gophers! (coming from an UND alumni). Good way to start the 2nd half of the WCHA season. Listened to the game on the radio and it sounded like the typical Sioux vs Gophers series. My guess is tonight somebody will get a 10 minute game misconduct with ejection… Just hope injuries don’t come with this
January 11, 2011 at 8:01 pm #925272Newts would be the place if you’re wanting to stay near the clinic/downtown ( ) unless your tune-up his heart related then you might want to stay away…
January 7, 2011 at 6:20 pm #923805Was out a couple of times over the holiday break. Had mixed results. The best time for fishing seemed to be early morning ’til about noon. I was out with a friend just before sun up and we had non-stop fish until about 11 when we needed to leave to do other things. Between the two of us, we caught a little over 60 fish, nearly 20 of them being crappie, and of those crappie’s, about 5 of ’em around the 10-11 inch mark. My friend also managed a 10 inch gill. But I have also had mixed results out there. Went out last night just before dark, caught to perch within 2 minutes and then it went dead once the sun was completely down. Changed locations and within the next two hours didn’t even have a nibble. Talked to a group on the way out that got there a little after dark and they hadn’t caught a thing although they were marking fish. With the rain last week, the ice now in great shape (but very slippery with a dusting of snow on top). Had anywhere from 11-14 inches of ice. But I think its time for some more variety and bigger fish… Faribo here I come!
December 23, 2010 at 4:46 pm #919672Been out at the creek the last 2 days. My success was fair to say the best (at least when compared to this summer’s results…) The first day out there started started the day out with a crappie (small one) and the rest of the day was perch (a dozen or so and none of any size). The second day I fished with a friend and in 5 hours only caught one fish, a crappie about an hour after dark… There was probably 8 or so houses out there both days all packed in pretty much one location. The second day I was out there I picked up a lot of trash including a one pound propane tank and several beer cans…
December 11, 2010 at 7:09 pm #916271The game is canceled until tomorrow, but the basketball game was still on… so that doesn’t make too much sense since they are basically right next to each other…
But what a great game last night was! Hopefully they show up and play like that again Sunday!December 9, 2010 at 7:21 pm #915808Also caught a tennis ball pan fishing with a bobber and worm from the bottom of the reservoir….for some reason the bobber even went under and then I apparently set the hook into the tennis ball…
December 8, 2010 at 8:42 pm #915554My friend and I were fishing a local fishing hole from shore. We were throwing bobbers out there with crawlers on a #4 hook I believe. We were slaughtering perch, sunnies, and gills the entire time. After my friend seeing his worm fly off on the cast, he started to reel in the bobber to replace the worm. About 15 feet from shore, my friend snags on something and then the bobber gets attacked by something leaving a boil and taking the bobber under. It happened so fast we didn’t see what it was. He kept on reeling, but there was good resistance. Eventually we got it to shore and who would have guessed a northern struck the bobber and entangled himself in the fishing line. The pike was only about 20 some inches long. My friend was also missing his hook… so perhaps there was another pike that went after the hook. Throughout the summer he ended up catching 2 more northerns at the same fishing hole only using a bobber and #4 hook with night crawlers. I know northerns can be aggressive, but I have never seen them attack such a small presentation…

Go to Canada and get dominate players.
No reason the Gophers can’t score 5+ goals every game. Go get the players, I don’t care where they come from.
I totally agree with starting to recruit the Canadians. Although it is always nice seeing almost all home grown talent on the ice for the U, but because of this, we lose some in coming talent that we could be getting from the land up north.
The most frustrating thing is the inconsistency of play which can be both players and coaches fault in getting prepared to play…
December 3, 2010 at 6:52 pm #914330Thanks for the updates! Hope your next update reveals good ice conditions and fish being caught!

December 2, 2010 at 9:37 pm #914074Great point! some of the worst sun burns I have had are from being out on the ice out day in the sun. Usually it is my nose that gets fried and peels like old paint for a couple of days… these days skin cancer is occurring more frequently in younger aged people so it is important to remember the sun screen no matter how greasy it is
November 30, 2010 at 11:55 pm #913537Finally some winter weather is coming to stuck around….or so I hope
November 21, 2010 at 11:00 pm #911276I want him to be fired today but I also want the vikes to get a good draft pick so we can pick up respectable 1st round qb. Whether he is out coach or not I don’t think it will change much of our effort on the field…
November 16, 2010 at 4:57 pm #910091I tried chester a long time ago and just didn’t have much success. Maybe it was a bad day for me or the fish just weren’t biting. I’ll be C/R all winter as I still got a freezer full of walleye from a LOTW trip this summer. I will be watching for the violators and won’t hesitate to turn ’em in. I’m hoping the big sunnies (1 pounders)and crappies (stretching 14 inches) from this summer are still around at silver creek. Also hoping to pull some pike through the ice as well…
November 16, 2010 at 3:15 am #909955Thanks for the reply’s! I am most likely going to try it out a few times this winter just to check out the bite and hope it is good due to its’ proximity to Rochester.
November 6, 2010 at 9:19 pm #908289I couldn’t believe it. The Gophs went from scoring 9 goals the previous game and we couldn’t net one this game… We have been pretty inconsistent and non-convincing this season. There are too many highs and lows during the games that makes it really frustrating. Its tough going to school at UND and trying to keep cheering the Gophs on… Hopefully tonight is a much more better performance and with Patterson between the pipes. Still early in the season and a lot of freshmen getting ice time so hopefully things come together…soon!
November 2, 2010 at 1:11 am #907402What should be going on in Ziggy’s head…. Ziggy should be thinking that Chilly needs to be gone and Frazier takes the reigns at head coach for the season and lets Favre run the show on offense while he still takes care of the defense (a defense that needs some help as we haven’t touched a quarterback in 3 games!). Changes need to be made before we start losing other key players because of the Minnesota Vikings “System”.
October 29, 2010 at 8:22 pm #906937The rangers have not looked too good…still rooting for them since they haven’t won a WS in their 50 yrs in the league. I don’t want them to start a streak like the cubs have going…. They are one of the best hitting teams in the league but haven’t shown it yet…tough up-hill climb from now on
