Thanks for the replies, the nils auger doesnt make a 7inch auger do they. I would prefer the 8 but want to get the most holes I can.

i was just in sd this past weekend, i also read this forum where some people put it in open water mode. I was fishing in like 5-6ft of water in open water mode and it worked just fine. I had the transducer barely in the water and it would pick my jig up about 1.5 ft down. I suggest trying that if you are going to be fishing anything less than 6 ft. I was running the lx-7 and lx-9

I started with the 6, then i bought a 9, now i have the 7 and 9 and sold the 6. Screen is way smaller at least it feels that way when you put them side by side. Also I am not one to complain about hole hopping with a bigger unit. Its not that heavy to pick it up and go hole to hole, I do it all the time. So dont let the 7 stop you because its a little heavier than the 6.

started with the lx-6 then got the 9 ended up selling my 6 and got the 7 as well…after fishing with the bigger screen ill never go smaller again. I hole hop alot its not that hard to carry it around. Go with the 7

If your leaning towards a new flasher go to http://www.streiffs.com/. You can get everything 20% off. I bought an Lx-7 for $560. I just checked it seems like they dont have anymore right now maybe call them if thats what your interested in. You can use the Promo Code Web20 at checkout to get 20% off your entire order. I just bought mine yesterday and posted on here maybe a bunch of others bought one as well cause the lx-7 is not on there. In my opinion the lx-6 is a little small but still will get the job done.
