I have a guy coming this afternoon from Sioux Falls to look at it and run it. You can call me at 319-361-4869 , I am in Wabasha.
March 7, 2016 at 8:45 am #1604834Yes take lots of pictures, Had $7000.00 worth of tackles pole etc stolen from my boat in Wabasha 2 years ago. It took me months to fill out everything I had. After all said and done and insurance claim check came, I remembered even more items, Just imagine 42 years worth of crank baits, Lots of them they no longer make. Word to the wise, You have to have a separate policy on items in your boat. Your BOAT INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER IT.So trolling motors, tackles, electronics, have to be insured separate. Does take long to get to $10,000.00
May 4, 2012 at 6:40 pm #1065727This is so sad, I have a son in the guard and His mother and I know someday he will have to do his tour. I went to High School with Taylors Mom and Dad, And we have said numerous prayers and have our Church saying one on Sunday for him. God Bless
April 24, 2012 at 11:41 am #1061848Congrats! Denny, Do you go up to the Rainy River any more in October with the Algona marine group? I havent made it the last couple of years, but maybe will go this fall! Have a good one. If you ever get up to Lake Pepin give me a call,We have a place in Wabasha now.
August 15, 2007 at 1:15 pm #600213Welcome Jan! Hows it feel to have one of fishings icons stay at your resort like Hall of famer Bob! His son nows lives in Iowa,Looks like a Algona marine and sport hat Bob’s wearing,Maybe in the future you can have your own web site so we can check out the resort.Sounds like a great place to vacation.
July 23, 2007 at 3:04 pm #592919Here is a nice smallie,Kyle caught,Wew caught allot of smallmouth, so this kept the boys happy.
June 23, 2005 at 9:54 pm #369788The lake should be in better shape when you are there.Pull cranks on the breaklines.Lower end the is the best right now.I talked to my buddy and he has been up there all week and Maiden rock has been producing small ones.Bigger fish down the lake and by the willows.Get out early or go late. From noon to 4:oopm has been dead.
February 19, 2005 at 3:07 pm #344423Lenny,
How high is the water? Whats the roller situation? Cant wait to get out! Getting boat out next week.Looks like some nice eaters that Jim caught!July 26, 2004 at 1:43 pm #314061Thats correct James is right. The key is to know what depth your lure runs with a certain type of line and how far back. The other advantage is the fish dont get as spooked when the baits off to the side.
July 7, 2004 at 4:59 am #311513I just really want to know why any body who responds to these post does not sign up properly.I would love to talk to anyone who has a problem with me teaching somebody how to catch walleyes on the worlds greatest river! I give alot of info out free , I guesS we can just ask for a free will donation and then it will not be guideing! This is blown completey out of proportion! I think some people who have the right to pull up this sight should fill out the right columes so we know more about you.All we want to do is to teach everyone a better and more productive way to fish and to catch and release the good gene pool. This has nothing to do with the Coast Guard which I fully respect and do occasionally turn in a crazy driver. I can probably speak for anyone who as ever guided, that we have to be very patience and Father at times! or a big Brother.I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHY YOU FEEL WE HAVE TO GO THRU SO ANY BELLS AND WHISTLES TO TEACH PEOPLE THIS FINE SPORT? WE ALL HAVE THE SAFEST RIGS ON THE RIVER BUT I GUESS SOMEBODY WHO HAS A LICENSE, MUST BE THE ONE STARTING THIS? Well from now on I guess it will be free will donation. Please respond and sign up the correct way so we know where your coming from. I;m sorry for being harsh but somebody must really have a problem with us guides?
July 7, 2004 at 4:26 am #31150612 miles below Dbq dam.Get a map and get electronics and you can find the sand and the clams. I cant give all my secrets but the pool you were in is a very good pool.Jimmy O has made a good living up there.Give him a call.
June 3, 2004 at 11:04 am #307238I haven’t heard of anyone out.It will take another 5 to 6 days to clean up but up north of there the rain keeps coming.I am going to hit dbq when the level hits 11 ft. this should be a while hopefully by the 12th and 13th.
May 31, 2004 at 2:05 pm #306806We were north and south of the boat ramp. There is fish all over.Find them and stay on them .Make short trolls not long ones.
May 2, 2004 at 11:29 am #303332I fish 10 ,11, and 12, quite often they are all 1 hr from my house,Which works out great.
April 10, 2004 at 10:37 pm #300335I can also guide you.Give me a call sometime 319-361-4869
SchotzyMarch 17, 2004 at 1:15 pm #297175I think its a great sport! something you can do all your life. Just like fishing. Its good for personal relations with clients and sponsers. You guys fishing tournaments should do a little more.I had alot of sponsers in the past make there decision on the golf course. It trains your brain to think about what club to use it certain situations.Windy , Wet, distance! You catch my drift? You have to do the same thing when trying to put fish in the boat.
March 12, 2004 at 6:10 pm #296468I would not take any chances? Yes below the Dbq dam and Bellvue and Clinton dams this is in affect the next 5 years. And remember the lenghth limits.Pools 12 thru 20 anything between 20 and 27 must be released asap and only 1 fish over 27 can be kept,Not that you would want to.Its my understanding that Illinois is in affect now till march 15
March 11, 2004 at 12:15 pm #296196I thought this pool below the dam was closed to fishing till the 15th? There is also new lenghth limits for those pools anything 20 to 27 inch must be released and one fish over 27 .Maybe Im wrong but they have been fining people in Dbq.You cant even have a pole in the boat.
March 8, 2004 at 2:08 pm #295636SNAP JIGGING!
Its just like you are using a blade bait. This sparks some of the inactive fish to just hammer it instead of just lipping it.Its worth a try when the bite is soft. Its better to use a ring worm or a K-tail when doing this. The rings give it a vibration that the fish can associate with.Make sure you retie now and then this will weeken you line right above the knot after doing it a while.Hpe this helps.James I was just pointing out the fact that there are fish in every pool if one would venture out and try some new things.I will be up bugging you and Dustin one of these days.November 15, 2003 at 12:39 pm #282028Hi super dave I would go to Lynxville.By the way the end of October I had the experience of spending some time with a engineering professer from the Uof I on the Rainy river.I turned his boat on to some nice fish. They got big fish one day that measured 28″ plus. They learned its all about attitude.
Good Luck SchotzyNovember 13, 2003 at 12:51 pm #281748We were fishing mainly below the float in 15 ft of water and also over by the false lock.Lots of grass still coming down.I did see some boats doing real well.It should be perfect if you go up on the 22nd.
September 7, 2003 at 10:44 am #275480Wilk, Just stay by Schotzy and he will find you a place to put in at. Just kidding! I know James and Dustin keep their boats at Everets but I will call Dusty and see if he knows?
