Are the Eye Candy similar to the material Zman uses on their plastics?

Northland is marketed as “Super TPE”
    ZMan is marketed as “Elaztech”.

Both are stretchy, extremely durable versus traditional plastics.

    IMHO similar.
    I am not a chemist.
So, I hope someone will explain any differences between the two.

    I seem to recall.
The transducers are the same, the connections are different.
The 9 has a 7-pin plug for Helix units and the 14 has a 14-pin plug for SOLIX/APEX units.
You can adapt the 14 to connect to a 7-pin, but not the other way.
You can research the connections to verify.

Where did you see this information about the new rating?

They did a facebook reveal yesterday and the boat had a 300 on it. If you have FB there is a video where they talk about it as well. Pretty sure it’s at the NW Sportshow in Mpls.

Yes, it is at the NW Sportshow.

I have had tinnitus since April 2000. Hissing, high pitched noise nearly 100% of the time. Sometimes it is much louder than others. For the first few years I had an annual hearing test which showed minimal hearing loss. A lot of snake oil solutions out there. I wish there was a miracle cure.

    Ed,

I changed out my seat bases in my Skeeter. They did have a some kind of thread lock. I do not remember the color. I was able to remove them by hand.
Wish I could be of more help!

Ok I actually really really like their fishing rods. Their customer service leaves little to be desired though. I was on a fishing trip in Canada and had a blank fail and snap the last two eyelets off while hoisting a 10″ eye over the side of the boat. I filled out the warranty claim and haven’t heard jack squat. Also called into the company several times. I seriously think they scrapped their whole warranty department. I guess I won’t be buying any of their rods again.

My advice is to hang in there. I filled out a claim on line. Within 2 business days I received an email with a claim number. I was instructed to call St. Croix’s Warranty Department. I called immediately. I left a called back number—No response/Callback. I did this for 10 business days. Finally on the 11th day A PERSON ANSWERED THE CALL! I completed my business in a few minutes. I then asked why I did not receive a call back previously. He could not explain why. He did say “some people have told him before about this”. But, he seemed unconcerned. Oh well…

    Regarding loan rates:

I checked my credit union Recreational Loans > $15,000 are at 7.84%.

    Gives you an idea.

Like anything else there will be incentives, programs, etc.

    I ran a 150 Optimax from 1998-2018. Well over 800 hours.
    It was a great motor.
    Very fuel efficient.

As long as the motor is in fine running condition now, no reason not to buy it.

    As others have said:
    Use the recommended oil.
    Treat the gasoline as well.
Let the motor warm up before leaving the dock.

It also helps to have a working relationship with a knowledgeable Optimax Tech.

OK…I see the link I provided did not make it through to my post!

Summit Fishing has bags, shuttles, etc.

    Go to:
    SummitFishingEquipment.com

I bought XL size for a Helix 10.
    They sell out quickly.
I signed up for the email in-stock alert.
Ordered and received the shuttle bag promptly.

As gizmo guy said search the used marketplaces, I recommend looking for similar motors- shaft length, 12 volt or 24 volt, Spot Lock or not, etc.

As big crappie says list the features: shaft Length, 12 volt or 24 volt, Spot Lock, AutoPilot, Remotes included, honest assessment of condition.
Set the price according to your motor and others on the market in your area.

Good Luck and hope you get into a new motor soon!

I have had 10 different Humminbird units since 2008. 500 series, 800 series, 900 series, Helix G2 the only problems I have had have been related to install/wiring. Humminbird updates have improved performance particularly the Helix series. I also like Lakemaster maps that work in the Humminbird units.

I have experience as a Tyee owner. Some of my thoughts:

The 2011 1950 should have a fairly large fuel tank (45ga.-55ga.) that will be helpful for large bodies of water.
I would recommend checking the flooring for soft spots that may have developed.
Also the transom can be a weak spot as well (See the many posts on the web regrading this). These can be VERY EXPENSIVE repairs.
Make sure the boat is maxed out in terms of outboard power (probably 200hp -225hp). I have seen 1950s with 150HP outboards. While this may be OK for smaller lakes but the loss of performance on large bodies of water and/or with heavier loads will be very noticeable.

Tyees are great boats if they fit your needs.

    The last Johnson/Evinrude I owned was a 1977 model.

I have had Mercury and Yamaha since.
(I know, I know, I am part of the problem causing the demise of the brand.)

However, I really hope that someone takes over the brand and revives Evinrude.

I understand that this is more of a sentimental thought and not based on a real world financial opportunity.

I owned 2 different Tyees over a 21 year span.
    Absolutely do not underpower them.
    You will be very disappointed.

I would pass on this boat and not look back at it!

Used Tyees sell very very fast.
Keep focusing on your search and react quickly when a boat interests you.

For anybody that has one, are they worth the cost?

Yes to me they are worth the extra cost.

Does the blade stay sharper longer because of the material?

    Not 100% sure.

Or is it because its sharp on the backside of the knife tip too and you are supposed to leverage that for some of your cuts?

    IMHO this definitely helps.

I have used the same Leech Lake Knife for 27 years.
    Very happy with it!
For years I would get it sharpened at the NW Sportshow.
Now I send it in to Custom Cutlery.

    I agree with gimrius:

“I personally do not usually have an issue with C & R at this point. My beef is with the large discrepancy between winter angling and soft water angling rules. Winter anglers actually get to fish the whole season, they can fish at night, and they can keep fish. Soft water anglers can’t keep any fish, they have a season long night ban, AND there’s a full July closure this season. I think the regulations should be more consistent all year long. And winter anglers definitely should NOT be allowed to harvest anything if there is a potential closure during the summer. I do not ice fish so I feel like I’m really being short changed in the soft water season at the expense of ice anglers.”

In my opinion, another example of the regulations that are implemented not for biological reasons. Only thing is I do ice fish. But, this has bothered me for years.
