I put my boat motor in paper last year,, was sick for a while and thought maybe i should sell it,, before i had a chance a day later to take it out of paper (wife talked me outta it ) i had 3 people coming to look at it and had no price haggling in ad. I agree there are some bad ones out there,, the 150’s i remember started it,,blowing heads,,i think changing oil to synthetic and how i drive saved me,, and maint. When in army we had WW2 equipment that looked and ran like new,, just needed care and mainĀ·teĀ·nance. Just take care of it Travis,,you’ll be fine.Hard to find mechanics that still work on them is the biggest problem,, even here in Milwaukee i only found 2 out of many outboard repair places.
Take care guys,, got me worked up now,, think i’ll hook it up and get out there for awhile,, fishing has been awesome ! JOP

i ALSO HAVE A 90HP , 1999 EVINRUDE FICHT,, ONNLY USE SYNTHENIC OIL SINCE I HEARD FROM MECHANICS ABOUT HEAD PROBLEMS AND CARBON BUILD UP FROM TROLLING. I WAS TOLD TO “RUN IT LIKE I JUST STOLE IT ” BY MECHANIC. BOUGHT NEW WHEN I RETIRED 23 YEARS AGO. JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE PEE CONNECTION AT BACK OF ENGINE,, PLASTIC CAP CRACKED,, COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW CLEAN AND WELL PRESERVED HOSES AND EXHAUST LOOKED. IT LOOKED LIKE A NEW ENGINE. SHE’S GGREAT ON GAS,, DOESN’T SMOKE, VERY STRONG , AND PUSHES MY 17FT ALUMACRAFT ALONG AT 40MPH. WAS TOLD BY EVINRUDE MECHANIC TO STAY AWAY FROM TROLLING AND RUN IT HARD AND THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS,, IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW,, THEY BUILD A GREAT ENGINE, JUST DID NOT FIGURE ON TROLLING ALOT. ALSO I USE SNYTHENIC OIL AND WHEN PULLLED APART LOWER COWL EXHAUST ONLY HAD A LITE COATING. I WOULD BUY A NEW ONE OF THESE IN A HEART BEAT.GREAT ENGINE,, JUST TAKE CARE OF IT. JOHNPERRY, WISCONSIN.
