It would be interesting to hear what the guys at Skeeter Boat Center have to say about rigging the Heading Sensor. I rigged mine last summer with the Heading Sensor on the bow. I followed the set up and calibration instructions and every thing seems to work fine. This discussion has got me second guessing myself.

We were on Stump on Saturday. The conditions were the same as Devil’s. Got stuck once on Stump. It really doesn’t take all that much of a drift to mess up a normal 4 wheel drive pick up or 4 wheeler. There were no roads plowed on Stump. If you stayed in the old tracks you were OK, if you went out on your own it was tricky.

Was on Devil’s Lake last weekend with a 4 wheel drive pickup. Snow on the ice was on the edge for a 4 wheel drive pick up. Got stuck twice. I’m not sure what the last storm did to the conditions, but it was a little tricky last weekend.

I had Towtectors a few years ago. I just got a new rig last summer and I bought KWIK PFYT brush type flaps. So far I really like them. Might want to check them out.

I ran a 2006 4Runner for 4 years. Nice vehicle, really liked the 4 wheel drive, you could feel the shorter wheelbase when pulling a trailer, not a gas mileage champ. I had the small V-8 engine which ran super smoothly, but had issues with exhaust manifolds. I would recommend the vehicle but not the V-8, because of the exhaust manifold issues.

    Kyhl –

The quote is from a lawyer – Ivan Hoffman.

What I think he does a good job of saying is – 1. The law is a reflection of a society’s morality. 2. A society isn’t some faceless / nameless thing – it’s a group of people.

Now I happen to look at things from a Christian world view, but it is obvious that the majority of the folks in the US look at the world from a secular point of view. Those secular values are being reflected in our laws. I don’t like it, but I get it.

“So the law is now and always has been a reflection of the values of the society in which it is found. But in truth there is no such thing as “society.” Society is merely the totality of the input that all of us, individually and through our institutions such as media, business and the like, create. “Society” includes as well all of those same inputs of everyone who came before us including parents, grandparents and others not related to us individually. But in the end, all of that input came from a person, not a thing called “society.” Some person created each value that we now attribute to “society.” When enough of us adopted that same value, it seemed to become some sort of accepted truth. Some of those “truths” became our law.

Thus, the law is a reflection of each of our individual values, writ onto the larger canvas that we, for convenience if not literal correctness, call society. Having a “thing” to blame it on excuses our individual responsibility. We are the law in a very real sense. We are part of its creation and it reflects who we are.

It follows that if the law is reflective of our individual values, then we have to examine those individual values and how we thus play a part in the shaping of the “societal” values. It requires a sense of ourselves. It requires a sense of our individual power and yes, responsibility for who we are as a “society” and the laws that reflect that society.”

I think this quote is right on the mark.

The real question is not whether the political community will legislate morality; the question is which vision of morality will be enforced and by what sort of government.

I’ve been using the 6″ K-drill for three seasons now. With the 5 amp hour batteries on the Milwaukee Fuel I get 450″ per battery. I’ve let lots of people try my drill out on the ice and the number one error I see them make is to push too hard while drilling. I think that may be your issue with the poor performance. I’m right handed, so I put a light push on the drill with my right hand and don’t push at all with my left. I put enough pressure on the handle to help keep the torque of the drill from spinning with my left hand.

Another tip is to keep the blades out of the snow between drilling holes. The snow will stick to the wet blades and ice up, which will force you to chip out the ice before being able to cut.

    Cal

I’m pretty sure I saw this 1890BT at the Skeeter show last weekend. I was curious as to why you added the foil to the 90? Were the specs you quoted – before or after the foil?

    Thanks

Why use the drill plate? It adds weight, cost, and is something else to break. I’ve only used my K drill bit and my cordless (with a handle) for two years with zero issues.

I was lucky enough to be part of two good friends PB Gills. Cool thing was that both were from lakes not known for big Gills.

Glenn – I’ve had my bone marrow drawn many times over the years and they sedate you to the point you don’t feel and pain at all. You are a little sore for a few days, but it is no big deal. Everyone should consider joining the Be the Match (Bone marrow) list.

Glenn – thanks for donating and your post. I can tell a story from both sides of the fence. I donated over 7 gallons of O negative CMV negative blood in the past and you guys are right about being at the top of the list. I basically donated every 56 days and it was used super fast. The other side is that I had to be a recipient of more than a few units of blood during a fight with cancer about 10 years ago which played a part in saving my life! Another thing for all us that are able to consider is to sign up to be on the bone marrow donation list. If you are ever called to donate you can save someone’s life. I received a stem cell transplant over 9 years ago and am cancer free!

So for you guys that are using a sled on your portable and fishing out of the portable (vs just using the sled to transport gear) How does it work to fish out of an elevated portable? Or do you take the portable off the sled to fish?

I’ve been using a 6″ K Drill this season. You owe it to yourself to check it out. Very cool tool. I’m thinking of selling my gas auger.

Thanks for your advice guys. First I glued the two pieces together with super glue. I then tried a product for the first time called PC Marine Fix. It is a epoxy putty that is activated by kneading in your fingers for a minute before application. The consistency of the putty is like play dough which I formed around the stem of the transducer. The putty cured into a complete rock hard substance that you can sand, drill, etc… and is supposed to be waterproof. It looks like it should be a long time fix. I can see this product would have a lot of different uses. So hopefully my mistake will only take $5.00 to repair.
