March 26, 2011 at 10:59 pm #950920Binks is a local guide. He makes ans sells his own spoons. They are 5.00 ea. White and silver are good colors. Also some guys get the spoons at cabelas. 1oz is typical but 3_4 oz is used as well. Binks are available at local bait shops. Also might check out KT LUREs in Texas. They are about 2.20 plus shipping. Some guys say they work better than binks. I have a house in Flippin and spend a lot of time there
March 26, 2011 at 9:33 pm #950911There are various ways of fishing stripers this time of year on Norfork Lake. Night fishing can be very productive this time of year. Try casting rattling rouges or other type of stickbaits in evenings or early morning up creek channels on secondary lake points. As you said live shad fishing also produces well this time of year. Another successful method is locating schools of shad and vertical spooning. I often use my marcum LX5 hanging over the side of boat and use it just like ice fishing. With any of these methods watch for rising shad and have a floating bait set up ready to cast into school of shad. Hold tight as it can be explosive. I will be in Arkansas around that time. You can pm me and I will give you phone number. Also check out Lake Norfork Stripers Club website.

January 19, 2011 at 12:35 am #927654Hello, I am a Rheem dealer in Iowa. I see there are many post here with good advise. I have toured the rheem factory in Arkansas. Goodman is the cheapest furnace I can purchase on the market and the functional parts reflect this price. Like anything else you usually get what you pay for. I service and repair all brands so i sell the one we’ve seen the least repair problems with. Rheem also came out top buy –#1– with fewest repairs 2 years ago in consumer magazine. I am not trying to sell a furnace but only share a little experience. If you have any questions you can call me at 712-830-1638. Also, unless you have money to throw away, I would consider waiting for your next breakdown. Thanks Roger

December 21, 2010 at 5:13 pm #919004I fished many FLW tounaments, both Tour and League, as a co-angler. My friend and I also fished many smaller tournys as a team. Together we have spent many many hours analizing Flw, Pwt and smaller organizations.
Some conclusions;
1. Unlike maybe popular opinion, the most of circuit is for the organizer to make money and not for the fisherman.2. Purses continue to decrease while entry fees increase.
The first championship, RCL, 1st place co-angler purse $150,0003. Higher input cost to fish ex: hotel, fuel, bait, and gear just to name a few.
4. The “fisherman” is a marketing tool to the sponsers and public. The more sponsers the more money for the organizers.
5. Many organizers got greedy; reducing payouts to their marketing tools rather than rewarding participation.
6. Walleye Fishing is not near as popular as Bass fishing.
7. Many of the same marketing tools used in bass fishing are not implemented by the Walleye organizers.
8. Most of the veteren particapents belong to multi boat teams that share GPS cordinates, success reports and plan tactics where they let the leading team member fish the most productive spots, hoping all will share a paycheck.
9. The economy, no explanation needed.
These are just a few of the many limitations for Walleye tournament Fishing and entry level anglers.
