Do have a percolator coffee maker and when by myself I use a little pour over cup/filter that works great. Have upgraded to a -35 Teton sleeping bag which is fantastic. Thing is huge and heavy but keeps you warm.

Using an Otter Lodge as my sleeping tent. Not a huge space to heat and the electric heater did alright but from everything I have read heaters and coffee makers are hard on generators. Have the nice Dewalt Buddy heater and a good CO2 detector so that is probably my most economical system.

No, I understand that. I like the idea of having solar as a means to re-charge the unit when power is not available. Would also be nice to have for summer/fall trips if I am boondocking in an area without electricity on a hunt or out camping.

Thanks Eelpoutguy for the reply. Great point Dan. Thinking of heading to Red Lake for a few nights of ice camping. It will be my first trip here. Wanted to get on before the wheel house army invades.

I would not be opposed to Zimmer losing his job. There’s a rumor Jason Garrett is available.

Forget Garrett. Be patient. Matt Nagy will be available soon.

Either would be a great choice and well deserving if the Vikings make a change!

Here is what I am doing for my Otter Lodge which is basically 8×8 inside. I want it bigger than the foot print of the shack. I then put the 1/2” workout mats on top. I am doing four holes at the top end. Adding a couple of 3×4 rugs just to help keep it dry. Maybe a little over kill but it should keep me dry. Had an issue first time I did an overnight with water as we were on a slushy lake.

Check out the guys at Deep Freeze. They make an adapter for each style of ice auger for cordless drills. I put one through the ringer last weekend and it worked flawlessly. That adapter will stay in my drill all season now. No more un-chucking the drill. Plus they make a tool that works with the adapter for running ice anchors and an extension. Best money I spent this ice season by far. WI made in Stevens Point. Had my order next day.

Fillets were soaked over night milk. I think it is more of a poor light issue as I took the picture in my kitchen a little under the cabinets. Fillets look fine to me.

Thanks for the replies guys. I figured as much but my wife was all jiggy about it when she saw me drying and packaging them up.

The only saving grace is there no dominant team in the NFC that should scare the Packers especially if they can hang onto the top seed.

Hey what about dem Bears? Big win yesterday.

Most Bears fans I know were hoping they would lose out to improve their draft standing and get a house cleaning. These guys are pros and are playing for future contracts so I don’t think you will see them laying down unless you are the Jets.

Yeah mean the Saints that just lost to the 4-8-1 Eagles? I like the Packers chances in Lambeau in Jan against the Saints especially with a banged up Drew Brees.

Going to be a tough sell at $200 a pop, at least for me.

They’re $80. I think you might be thinking of the G.Loomis ice rods

My bad. You are correct. My brain is working at half capacity with boredom over my Covid lock down.

Heard from one guy there were very few deals to be had. I am wondering if companies and stores don’t think they need to run specials as this is the only big show and guys are going spend either way. I would be interested to hear what others saw.

Halloween weekend? There is skim ice forming on bays of smaller lakes as I type and the highs are only mid 30’s and lows are low 20’s all of next week.

I have already bought a small fortune in tungsten jigs from Slayer, Maynard and RBM. I did pick up a new Marcum lithium battery also. I was quite surprised at the weight difference. Other than that I am ready for the ice. I am sure something will catch my eye or be too good a deal to pass up.

The key word is document. I like to write a check and pay part of it in cash. I have never run into anyone who has said no to such a deal. Don’t make it stupid but say if you are buying for 10k ask if you can write a check for 7k and 3k in cash. Put 7k on the title and that is what you pay in tax.

This is the replacement one they sent me with the black plastic bushing on it.

When you emailed them did they ever reply or did it just show up in the mail. I haven’t heard back since I sent my original email.

    Thanks

Sent an email to customer service 2 days ago, haven’t received a response yet

Same experience here. I realize they are probably getting a bunch of emails now so I will give it a few more days.

Have a son taking a six week college course in Slovakia for travel abroad studies and we now have some major concerns. Not leaving until the end of May so we are hoping this gets figured out. My wife is starting to openly freak out a bit; I am doing it more on the inside.

The blue loctite will cure any issues with the socket cap screw loosening and falling out. No issues since I applied a little of the loctite a few months ago.

I would say the resorts up north are having a boom year. Lots of snow with mild temps make for great snowmobiling conditions at least in northern WI. Those resorts rely on the snowmobile traffic a lot more than the ice fishing traffic. Maybe different situation in northern MN.
