SLee I agree with that if it is an 8 fish limit, like in the classic. When you fish a 5 fish limit it changes though. We are talking about big bodies of water(River&Tonka)what if we are fishing smaller bodies of water like Waconia. Would you fish it any differant SLee?
Cade what tournaments do you fish, so I can come and fish where all I need is 13 to 14 lbs to cash. If I am fishing a tourney where there is a 5 bass limit and the lake regulary gives up 20lb sacks, I dont even bother with small fish. I will concentrate on my spots that can produce big bites. I would rather swing for the fences and fail then just try to weigh a limit to save face. I will sit on one spot all day and wait the the fish out if I know there are hogs there. I know that on the river you have more room, but on lakes in the twin cities area there is so much presure that if you leave one spot for another you may end up with nothing to fish.
I am really new to the swim jig craze. I have tried alot of differant manufactures and I have to say that Dan and Outkast tackle make some of the best swim jigs out there. I remember when we use to use just regular stanley jigs for swim jigs, this was many years ago and it was not called swim jiggin. These young guys are very lucky to have such awesome tackle to use. Cade keep your open mind about things, it will take you along way in fishing and life.
Shane you need to start using them! They are pretty easy to use. They work awesome on Tonka ….note to self “stop talking about Brovarney swim jigs”
….sighing…I have watched this post bounce back and forth. The one thing we need to agree on is that we need to stay involved and not let them slide a one sided law into affect.I for one will be here to help in anyway to the represent the tournament angler(not just bass). I hope this made sence.
I wish people would stop talking about Brovarney jigs….other people might start using them…..
Tracking bass you need to get a good map. First start looking at the map and figure out what kind of season we are in(pre-spawn,spawn,post-spawn etc. etc.) I then try and elimanate water before I go to the lake. I will circle spots I want to look at. Then when I hit the water I stick to my plan and go through the routine of fishing close and then moving out till I find the fish I am looking for. As far as baits, its what ever your confident in.
I had a similar situation a couple of years ago with a partner. We fished out of his boat in a tournament and had moderate luck on his spots so, I told him we should go fish some of my best docks. We pulled up and proceded to catch a nice limit. We then went to what i would call a community hole and he said he had caught some nice fish there in the past. We did not catch a fish and left. I liked the spot and thought it would be better earlier in the year. We finished the day one place out of the money. The next year the tournament was earlier and he decided to fish with someone else, I found a differant partner and tried that community spot and found the fish stacked on it. I told my old partner of the fish and he was really mad that I would consider fishing his spot. I told him that we could share and that there was plenty of water. He said no thanks and its up to me if I want to fish that spot. The thing that really bothered me was that the year before he fished my good docks with someone else and he never really told me. I found out from his partner. I did not care as I was not fishing the tournament. Well I fished the spot and he fished his and he has never really forgiven me and my favorite docks are now his favorite docks. Lesson learned on my part. I made a mistake and let fishing get in the way of friendship. Hopefully one day he will see that he made the same mistake.

Yeah, I won’t be going back to the Cabelas in Rogers anytime soon. I got a mailer about a sale so we went up there to get a new trolling rod/reel. We usually go to Owatonna but the fiancé wanted to go to Albertville (sometimes you just have to compromise) To make a very long story short, they claimed not to know of any sale. When I got home I check to make sure it wasn’t just an online sale and it wasn’t. I had to order it out of the sales mailer and pay the extra shipping. I suppose at the end of the day it is my fault that I didn’t bring the flyer with to show them what sales they had going on.
No complaints at all about the Owatonna store.
I work in the fishing department in Rogers and I believe you were looking for the Daiwa Accudepth on a Cabela’s depthmaster rod. Those combos sold out as quick as they came in and I appologize for any incovienence(sp). We try very hard to give the best service we can and there are alot of us who give the same service as any mom and pop store. With that said, we also have 100 times the business as most mom and pop stores. Thats no excuse for what happend to you and I hope you can give us another chance. PM me if you need to find something and I will do my best to find it. Thanks
Ummm James have you ever heard of a Zebco…its a bass guides best friend
Good Luck this weekend Shawn and if you catch them in my spots and tell anyone ……you get the point
I here ya James. It seems so 1970’s to be throwing one but would you rather be skunked…bring on the mepps
If we put 6 northern anglers and 6 southern anglers on Lake X I would bet the northern anglers would win 7 out of 10 times. Just a thought…I dont know if it fits in this thread but I was just thinkin about it
Hey guys I also wanted to post that Troy and Dan at warrior will give anyone a tour of there facility if there interested. I would post there web address but I dont know if that is against IDA rules.
Hey James, This 188 model is maxed out at a 200hp. They tested with a 200 hpdi and reached about sixty. With a differant prop the boat should hit mid sixty’s.
I just want to say that I did not post about the new Warrior to start a “who’s got the best boat debate”. I was just trying to let people know. I think Ranger ownwers should be proud of there product but this forum is not about that it is about a new product thats it! I could write alot more but I will chose to punt right now
WoW jason, you have alot to learn about salesmanship. My .02 cents worth!!!!!!! O YEAH do you still build them one at a time. I love the history of Ranger and thats what it is history. Slop I agree with everything you said and you have the character of a person who I could converse with. I am sure you are happy with your Ranger and lots of people are happy with theres. Thats the whats awesome about our country ,is that we have a choice of which boat we chose to buy and support. Ok I will get off my soap box
