Ahhh I see. So why the poly board for the vantage?

HRG, do you have any idea why the mount to the boat is poly board and not just a stainless bracket?

Ya I think that style of fishing is tailored to big lake fishing for walleyes on the Great Lakes.. I’m usually fishing walleye between 12-30’ on smaller bodies of water where covering big areas isn’t as important

Did you just stop back trolling all together? I’ve actually seen quite a few full windshield boats with vantages, but mainly on aluminum boats.

It’s 9” from transom to end of trim tab.. so this is a possible solution, thanks! It says to remove motor when travelling which would get quite tedious after awhile but beggars can’t be choosers.

I’ll try and get a picture of the box after work. I tried going through the menu and selecting the transducer source but none of the available transducers seemed correct? It says “unknown” for transducer. Should there not be like a LSS1 option? And yes It gave that message in the water

I plan to throw anywhere from a 1/2 oz tube jig to a 6 Oz bondy bait. Do you have any specific rods in mind? I was looking at the fenwick predator or something along the lines like that. Right now I have a 7’ MH fenwick HMG casting with a quantum s3 pt accurist spooled with 30lb power pro and a 6’ 20 lb fluorocarbon leader.

I’ve got the TUCR commander 32”. Would this be a rod I could use for lakers or is it too short?

Do you think a 32” commander would be okay for lake trout? I’m going up north Manitoba this January for lake trout and I will be bringing the 36 MH Jason Mitchell Mack rod, but would like to have a back up. Do you think it would hold up?

Has anyone used an m18 Milwaukee battery to power their unit?

Hey guys,

I’ve recently purchased the Helix 7 Ice CHIRP G2 unit and its awesome. I am just having trouble with the mapping and GPS aspect of things. I have the FishSmart app which has a lake on there that I would like to purchase, how would I transfer it to my unit. Also, do these units come preloaded with the basemaps? Any additional info would be awesome as I am new to the Humminbird systems.

I will be fishing mainly Saskatchewan and Manitoba. So maybe that would be a better route?

Did you buy the Panoptix bundle or just the ice transducer for the Garmin?
