I like Gladiator too. Seemingly never gets old. I haven’t seen the most recent Gladiator 2 yet.
Extremely violent. Looked up to find one of the residents at the group home I work at part time watching a bunch of guys fighting baboons. Was a little worried because they are a little sensitive to domestic violence type scenes. Apparently this does not apply to fighting a rhino with a stick and a perky attitude because they loved the violence of this movie. It kinda started to suck when they brought the old movie into the plot. Prey was another movie mentioned earlier that I thought was pretty good. Probably the best adaptation and maybe the best movie of the franchise.
You’ve got a relatively good basic start on hardware for pike. Get some wire leaders, spinnerbaits, and big swimbaits, and a net and pliers and your good to go. Jig them spoons in a river, steady retrieve those spinnerbaits through the vegetation in the river or lake, and fish those swimbaits like they have turrets syndrome and you’ll urine off a pike enough to get you started.
Other bills that are being reviewed by the House committee for Environment include HF276 to reimburse Game and Fish fund for any monies collected in sales of seized items, and other revenue streams, and HF 411/HF413 both making fishing licenses for people over the age of 65 free.
956 seems a little restrictive in the warrant part. They can interrupt a crime where there is imminent danger or loss of property. But they must seize your vehicles for transporting minnows illegally. Must. This is a pretty fresh bill that hasn’t seen much committee time. Its only been to Environment. 980 sounds pretty much like described above. Multiple sheriffs assigning tasks and scheduling CO’s. This is similar to other reactions to CO’s that enter property regularly under the guise of stopping poaching or investigating without warrants. It’s probably time to decide if the DNR officers are required to follow the same rules as local law enforcement.
Pelican is a real melting pot. I’ve sat at a table as a kid where a Mexican and a Norwegian, and a German, all were complaining about the new Hmong immigrants while eating Mexican hotdish at a Protestant potluck.
Pho is so good for the winter belly. There’s a place in Pelican Rapids that does Asian/Cajun/American cuisine in the kitchen of the VFW. If you get it to go they give you all the meats you choose and the noodles and veg and a big container of the broth. We’ve had Pho parties where we called ahead and got 3 gallons of broth and all the ingredients to add like shrimp and short ribs.
Enjoy! Shoot alot of Ottertail Counties inspectors are retired and if your just shore fishing in the area you might end up learning the entire history of whatever they retired from, plus their lineage, and whatever else they might have a shared interest in with you.
Doges budget averages an increase of 114% every 30 days. Not including the initial jump from 750,000$ to 6 million dollars the first week. By 2028 the DOGE budget would be about 75 billion dollars at the current rate.
Sorry “their” like we need that city money cuz the corns selling cheap and we only have tourism and ag to pay the light bill. And yes everybody in the state has the right to use the water, but that doesn’t mean its okay to poop in the pond. In 1989 zebra mussels were found on a buoy in Lake Superior. In 1992 they were found in Lake Pepin. I know we already had the discussion of what the cities are but as far as I’m concerned Lake Pepin is for the city folk. You can watch the spread all the way up I 94 right to my area where all the glacier lakes and silt filled rivers gives them plenty to munch on. Milfoil will be next and its gonna suck too.
So, under this line of reasoning would you be ok with closing access to lakes? If folks that live on lakes apparently follow all the rules maybe we shouldn’t allow access to “city folk” since they are the issue.

No we need there money. Not alot to be made selling rocks and cows on the side of the road these days. And there’s plenty of rubes that don’t care either but like I said it’s easy to make headlines in a small town. A simple hot water pressure wash and hanging out while your boat drains for awhile before driving away is effective in removing plenty of vegetation, and allowing the water with the veliger’s to drain out.
They don’t put them in different lakes. Most just keep it in the same lake. And when they do, they probably Clean Drain and Dry since they most likely have a sign right in their front yard that says Warning: Invasive Species, remember to Clean Drain and Dry. When someone brings in a new lift and they find zebra mussels on it in a lake without them it makes the news. You don’t want to be the guy on the news for bringing zebra mussels into a lake that didn’t have them before.
Seems like we need more education. Lots more education. Pulling in clumps of zebra mussels and losing hundreds in tackle sucks. When there’s a thousand lakes in your county you can guarantee it’s not a bunch of rich people that are the cause of the concern for invasive species. Around here regular Joe still has a year round lake house. It’s not the birds I’m worried about adding milfoil to the lakes and rivers I fish, It’s arrogant city folk that don’t think that the water in their bilge and livewells with little chunks of weeds and creatures aren’t going to make the problem worse, because it cant get worse. It can. Most of the lakes in my area are real shallow, milfoil would make access impossible. It would be a shame to have to rename the Red River the Crystal Clear Canadian River because we give up on trying to prevent further damage. I watched a show I think on Amazon called The Fish Thief. About lampreys and how it took decades to kill enough of their population to bring back the lakers. Very interesting and shows how much dedication it takes to fight these problems.
The email I got from the DNR said we should still be able to use the old system. Originally they were just going to roll out the electronic licenses and if they weren’t ready we could fish without a license. Not surprised they are not all on the same page.
I got really sick back in Dec. Respiratory something. Took 2 weeks to get over it. Home tested for Covid and was negative. Had a flu shot but not a Covid shot. Not sure either would have helped mine was definitely in my lungs.
Meet the “too lazy to scroll to the top of the thread” class
Yeah guilty on all charges there sorry.
I didn’t call you stupid, there were other options. And yes you did touch a nerve. You are basically accusing everyone in the state government of siphoning and misusing funds. Believe or not we are not the entire government isnt a corrupt machine designed to waste your money. I use these publicly accessible amenities on a daily basis and political bias that can undermine my access is going to urine me off. And yes calling someone stupid is insensitive, I learned yesterday in my inclusiveness training that “dense” is a better term to use.
Yeah my little cooler is one of those drink type coolers so I can run the tube in and no spills. The upgrade was to a battery bank and a usb aerator from Fleet for like 15$.
Its literally three posts up. Has all the expenditures, the goals, information on what expectations will be, definitions of modernization. You quoted his post. Never mind this isn’t going to work out, go see HR. Oh my bad its a quote of the link that was provided 5 posts up so its on here twice.
The “parasite class” seems pretty bad, but not as bad as the “to lazy or stupid to look up the budget that is published and even has a link provided in this thread” class.
One of my goals this year is a 50″ musky off one of my local piers. I see alot of people on Facebook that harsh on these kind of projects, but pull in a giant fish while theres a bunch of little kids playing in the water or catching sunnies nearby and watch them as they instantly become hooked on fishing. Shouldn’t be too hard either I’ve pulled a 55″ fish from the shore on that lake.
I gave up on the livewells that come with aerators now. I have a USB aerator that I connect to a battery bank and can move to any livewell. I have a small cooler that I can take anywhere, a bucket with liner that I can sit on, and a large cooler in the garage. The battery bank lasts about 4 straight days, but you can buy any size. The USB aerator was like 10$.
Yes, I have seen this resell a car immediately after buying) on multiple occasions. I also work in an office that sees about 40-100 vehicle transfers a day. The minute after might be an exaggeration, but I have seen alot of people buy a car with cash in an out of state lot for lower than regional average retail, drive it home, say they don’t like it, and take the loss with someone else getting the benefit of the reduced value, and the previous owner not being out as much because the deal they got out of state.
The helicopter parents we have nowadays though are just gonna say that their kids have one of the many exemptions that are allowed. For being so free in their time Gen X is really an overbearing generation.
Everyone says different strokes until they see a donk rolling through the neighborhood.
IT wouldn’t be so bad, but they put street tires on them with like a 2″ sidewall and no grip. You can’t get a boat up a concrete boat ramp with those tires. When I was a kid in the 90s we all had jacked up trucks. I know one kid that had a lifted AMC. I had the biggest tires I could fit on my 1980 Ford Granada. But we would also go drive around in the night on minimum maintenance roads and go mudding in fields.
Seems like you would want a softer rod for this. Between the trolling, and the action of a bottom bouncer I would want fast tip to show any change in bottom and soft spine to absorb strikes and snags. A heavy rod with Mod/Fast action. Okuma SST seems to fit the bill.
We regularly have muskies hang out in popular fishing areas on the Ottertail where people shore fish. They sometimes wait until you throw a fish back or they will attack it while your reeling it in. One spot in particular I warn people not to play in the water under a culvert that always has a couple muskies waiting for an easy meal. They dont care about barotrauma or hook mortality they love the commotion from hooking a fish and they learn that hole=fisherman=fish in distress.
Like 6-7 years ago I worked at major sports retailer, and there were 0 extensions left in the entire state. Guys were driving like 2 hours to mom and pop shops hoping to find one. As a kid it seemed like 24″ was pretty normal.
