Sec 84.928 defines the current regulations, that includes road authorities allowing ATV access.

“There’s land for sale. Those who want to buy it can line up to get filthy rich off all the CRP profits if they want.”

Not only that if you look at tax forfeit land and small land plots for sale alot of them are already or have been enrolled in CRP programs already. If it was profitable the previous owners would not be so inclined to let it go. I think some need to actually take advantage of the WIA in their area and note the difference in wildlife. We didn’t have much for prairie chickens around here and now we have grouse and prairie chickens. Not only that its on WIA land so the whiny people from the ATV thread can walk the prairie all day long here. Land is pricey. Driving a million dollar combine around a thread of buffer strip that could easily be tiled over is a PITA. CRP and other land programs are not a money making scheme for most farmers around here, and I thank them for participating, even though I don’t even use them. One day a Prairie Chicken is gonna pop its little head out of the grass while I’m fishing and that will be well worth my pittance contribution.

This is America. Ethics clearly are not a concern.

After hearing on this site about some of the rivers and creeks in areas that get massive farm runoffs, I would think that most anglers would support some kind of buffer zone compensation to keep sediment and excess fertilizers out of the rivers.

I swear I saw some Elliot rods in the clearance section at Fleet Farm the other day.

Last time I got checked I think it was US Fish and Wildlife Smallmouth fishing on the OT.I have ran into several DNR officers since then but they never checked me for a license. It’s not unheard of up here to get stopped by three different levels of government on the same day. The county sheriffs are out looking for drunk or stupid boaters, and boater safety, the state DNR is looking for boater safety, and licenses and limits, and the US government is, well, I don’t know what they are doing but if they have nothing better to do they will check your license.

I’m still waiting for the opportunity to shoot jumping silver carp with a shotgun.

If your doing that at night please use a suppressor.

Dead carp everywhere sucks. There are piles of fish in many of the places I regularly go. Various stages of decomposition. They have been banned from one of the local Army Corps of Engineers recreation areas. I don’t mind the lights generally, but the generators are annoying. It’s not like there’s a ton of local traffic or city noise so you can hear one of those generators going all the way around a lake. Pair that with having caught kids on two different occasions shooting gamefish and it’s tough to have respect for the overall bowfishing community. I don’t think bowfishing is controlling the carp population at all so saying that is has a positive side other than being enjoyable for the participants isn’t really a good argument. But people have the right to enjoy themselves, I might yell out shut up you suck while they cruise by but it really only applies while they are making a bunch of noise, but it’s not personal.

I forgot to take my ribs out of the freezer. I got a bunch of country style for 1.79 lb. Instead they can stay in the freezer until next weekend and I’ll just get ribs from my local rib place tonight. I’ve been thinking of them all day and this post isn’t helping.

So I was curious if boarding the boat made bro a pirate, but it turns out bros a stowaway, and can be treated as such including being detained by the owner until they can be deported. Bro almost got himself put into ICE custody. Or he could have been charged and put in jail for 5 years. Ironically the address I have seen for the business is a prison.

x4 on the chuckeye. Now I guess I know why they went from half the price of a ribeye to almost the same price as a ribeye.

No waders or trout fishing for me but by July 4th you can pretty much guarantee to find me knee deep in the river somewhere. There’s plenty of sand banks and cold clear holes to walk around all day toes in the sand, sight fishing for smallmouth. People laugh because I have a pair of wool socks on my dashboard, but they are specifically there for wearing around the fire after wading barefoot in the river all day.

My grandma used to have one of those old wives tales answers to this question. Maybe it was vinegar? Or the water had to be boiling or cold or something. I don’t know because once I smelled old people egg farts I knew eggs weren’t for me. Except maybe a couple deviled eggs.

If y’all really want to urine people off how about all sonar needs to be registered with the DNR like drones with the FFA. Sales tax and registration goes towards fish conservation instead of the general fund. No reg sticker you get a ticket. You can then use this to control the guides usage as well. Yay gubment controls.

When I’m spring crappie fishing I’m usually fishing against the wind. I use a thill splash brite. Its pricey to lose one but they get me over and past the reeds, and take longer to float back to me in the wind. I also use these as drift floats on the river. When its not extra windy northland makes a balsa slip bobber that has two brass ends instead of one that casts real nice.

Where are you getting that this bill is for non-motorized hiking trails? This is for Off Highway vehicle trails, and roads in state property.

Wow. I usually enjoy reading bills, and can be open minded. I don’t use an ATV and generally think the rules are too lose, but this is ridiculous. I would doubt it would make it very far, but keep an eye on it.

Is anyone concerned this plot seems an awfully lot like the movie Canadian Bacon? Create a fake war to try to drive up polling numbers? And gullible people buy it right up.

I’ve been saying this form the start. I comment smells like bacon, and no one gets the reference. Shameful.

I don’t know the birds were going apeshit this morning. They could keep that snarky happy to be here attitude quiet until I’ve had my coffee at least.

Bill Gates is farming his Grafton land still. Rents it to the previous owners.

Lots of people own land as a corporation. Especially families and groups of friends. Its much easier to handle the ownership side when there is responsible parties. Living in a triangle of lakes, hunting, and farmland, its not at all uncommon to see even young people in their 20’s with an LLC just to buy land for duck hunting. With farmland from the Red River Valley nearby land buying has always been a good investment around here, it always goes up in value and can be easily rented. Lately alot of the lake purchases are done by people with LLCs in the cities and Chicago, and they rent out on VRBO and what not almost exclusively and rarely visit the property. Your probably right about the mineral concerns in Northern MN, that’s what happens when regulations are expected to be removed, mining becomes profitable again.

Yes we are all an ethnicity (Mexicans, Canadians, And USians). I’ve had poutine tacos for cripes sake. Mexican Americans go to night school and take Spanish and get a B.

This makes no difference to me. They still aren’t going to open the Ottertail to Smallmouth harvest, even though they so we can encourage some size increases. And Smallmouth taste pretty bad, at least out of a river.

I always think “man that’s a great lure to lose to a pike”. Watching the action on some of those baits is entertaining though.

Because it sounds dumb. It would be United States Citizens, and that still sounds dumb. Here’s a question why aren’t Americans considered an ethnicity? Canadians, Mexicans, and US peoples, have shared behaviors, and languages that makes us identifiable to the outside world. Generally other parts of the world treat Canadians and Americans the same when they come to a restaurant underdressed or aghast at the lack of ice. (At least they used to). We have shared customs and foods.

You can rent my dad. I got a call last year about him running around the yard in a bathrobe yelling and whacking trees with a stick. He had declared war on the squirrels for eating all the peanuts in like 5 minutes. This is a currently ongoing conflict that does not involve prevention in any way. Only mutual combat.
