RPM’s seem to be the same. I noticed the speed issue when in a fishing tournament and going all out to our first spot, and getting passed by smaller boats. I still get 39-40 mph maxed out but was mid 40s.

Thanks for the fast replies. I’ll back off the sea foam. I’ve looked at the prop. No nicks. I haven’t taken it off – if I had wound up a bunch of line on it could that do it? I don’t see any but again that’s just an external inspection.
Appreciate it guys.
RJ, which version of CMAP are you running? Social map off genesis or some other version like Lake Insight? I’d sure give it a chance again if you pointed me towards what you are using.
Tom, I am piling on your thread to ask a similar question. I fish one lake in northern MN, Pokegama by Grand Rapids, very frequently. I have lowrance units. Navionics is terrible for this lake, as of 2 years ago. CMAP Genesis social map was even worse. I have limped along with my old navionics chip. Is there any worth in upgrading chips in 2021. Is navionics or Lake Insight any better? I really like my lowrance carbon, but the quality of lake mapping is so poor, at least in northern MN, I would really hesitate to buy another new lowrance were I making a purchase now.
I’d also love to hear anyone else’s take on this.
Thanks guys.I appreciate all the info. Since I won’t be using it in the boat given I have lowrance graphs in there, I think I’ll stick with vex. Now I need to figure out the difference between the 28 and 30, and which would be better for a crappie and walleye guy!
Thanks for the helpful replies, Chris and Cody.
Chris, when you say leveling your transducer, do you mean front to back or side to side?
Cody, I’ll play around with 800 vs 455, I appreciate the info!
Thanks everyone. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear! Makes my decision easier.
Nick – that is interesting. Thanks. I’ll talk with our dealer and show them your post!
Mr. Pike,
What size jig head were you using in 14-17 feet? I just bought a bunch as well and am not sure how to fish them!
Thanks guys. Geez, I tried googling it for an hour and the site was bad. I post on here, and then the dang thing came back online. I must’ve been doing something wrong. It’s a great recipe with any fish, and a pretty healthy way to eat fish.
Any idea when we can do this on our Lowrance units? This is fantastic.
Fred, I bought CMAP Lake Insight last year, and have been really frustrated with it as well. The lake I fish is awful, in my opinion. I spent hours mapping and uploading, and it doesn’t seem to have helped the problem, when i download the social map. I came on tonight to see what people think of Navionics for Lowrance. I have the app on my phone, which is OK, but wondering how much better it would be for Pokegama lake in Grand Rapids MN than Genesis/CMAP.
Eeelpoutguy, great link to an old thread. ( I should have searched first.) I need to figure out where that relay is.
Are relays easy to pop out? I’m obviously not very mechanical…
Thanks guys!
Thanks everyone. I’ve lived and fished in MN my whole life and never heard of Limit Creek. How is THAT?! That Smoothie sounds intriguing. No local distributors in my neck of the woods. Might take the “leap of faith” and order one. I feel better doing that on a $90 rod than a $300 rod!
Thanks for all the replies! I like to throw 3/16 oz with 4 inch swim baits. Usually use braid with a FC leader.
I agree with the Hot Dawg, works great to keep it at the temp you want. I would also suggest an air exchanger. I have built 2 heated garages. The first time no air exchanger and we had lots of ice/water build up on windows, doors and the base of block around the floor. Total pain when it mixed with dust/dirt.
Garage #2 has an air exchanger. Huge difference. Of course, not the cost effective thing to do, but much better on the windows and doors. way less sloppy.
Thanks guys for the info. I was reading on the TUCR website that Quicktip can be used for deeper crappies. Can anybody give me a comparison of the QT and BW?
Typically I fish north central MN, from Deer River, to Grand Rapids, to Aitkin. I am using Insight Genesis, which is an improvement for me over CMAP and Navionics. I know Lakemaster isn’t necessarily that great on a number of lakes but it seemed like I could read the maps so much easier on my Hbird. Any thoughts?
I’m going to repeat the motorguide upgrade tomorrow. I’d love to get that thing functional, and use it with the lowrance units, but I’m thinking if that fails, keep one lowrance unit and link a hummingbird to a terrova.
Thanks for the reply Waxy!
So you connect the Marcum monitor to the video in adapter rather than the camera itself?
