I’m interested in buying your boat. I’m in Madison, WI. Where are you located? Also is your 15 hp motor a four stroke?

That was a great tournament Ken. I remember you telling me in the past that that lake has big channel cats in it. Those boat lunches always help make good fishing memories. Congratulations on the win.

Yes Ken, that’s a beauty. We’ll be planning a trip to LaSalle this summer.

I’m interested but I need to know the diameter of the shaft, diameter of the base, the number of holes in the base and the height range of the pedestal.

Don’t underestimate the shaft length you need. It’s not just the height of your boat above the water line that you need to consider. I have found that on windy (wavy) days if your shaft is too short it will come right out of the water. also when you’re running the trolling motor from the back of the boat with the remote it’s nice to have the head of the motor up in the air a ways so you can see it. things and people can get between you and the motor head and block your view so I always buy the 60 inch shaft.

Thanks for your efforts guys but I’m trying to change my name that shows with my avatar from Jerry-Ho to Jerry Hochhausen. I went to my profile and selected edit. In the field for your full name I have entered Jerry Hochhausen and clicked save changes. Nothing has changed. Did I do something wrong?

Congratulations Brian. I wish Wisconsin would adopt the same rules for channel cats and flatheads as MN.

I’m looking forward to doing some Ice Cat Fishing this winter also. I couldn’t believe what I heard on a local talk show here in Madison this morning. They were saying some supposed expert just made a report on Lake Mendota saying that we may not get safe ice on the lake this winter. I think he’s being a little rash. It’s only December 15th. there have been many times when there’s no snow at Christmas and the lakes still freeze over. Time will tell but I try to take it as it comes and not make these kind of rash predictions.

I’m a little late getting in on this thread but I would like to comment. I was there in the boat back in May right next to Ken’s when that rod went down and Little nine year old Drew got to fight that 25 pounder in front of all of us who were gathered for lunch in the boats. It made a great lunch even better.

Dirk there are a lot of great rods for circle hooks and the ones that have been mentioned are certainly good rods. I have been using 7’6″ Cat Fight Rods from Bottom Dwellers Tackle and really like them. They have a nice fast action tip section and have great backbone for fighting big fish. They’re rated for 15 to 40 pound line and 2 to 5 oz lures. They also have a heavier rod offering for big blue cats or even sharks in salt water. And for those who prefer spinning rods they offer a spinning rod in the cat fight line. These rods are built tough and have solid stainless steel guides and cork handles. They have been tested under extreme conditions. They’re also very reasonably priced.

Good show and camera work. I always enjoy getting up there to catch a bunch of whitefish. It’s so much fun using the underwater camera to see what’s going on down there and to know right when to set the hook.

They’re a lot of fun catching and good to eat. I really enjoy using my underwater camera to watch the whitefish come in and take the bait.
