Sure, you asked, N/P to share. We pitched shallow for two bigger fish. 5 to 8 feet. Another pod was in 18′ and pitched/ dragged both. Another spot we dragged 10-14 fow all w/ 1/8 oz jigs. Natural colors, just ring worms. Nearly the same winter condition programs as every other year. #1 Find fish and determine if they are active #2 fish slow, determine jig weight to hang your jig over em “within a foot or so of the bottom” long enough to tease em til they cant resist. #3 colors colors and more colors til you get it dialed. The reason I share that is again yesterday there was several boats next to us throughout the day, and all were fishing too fast. Too fast to hit even a hot color. There was one guy who caught fish pitchin jig and minnows also and some fish being caught out in the channel vertical w/ minnows!! Hope that helps some! good luck!
We are still locked up on Pool 5. Soon tho we will cut it open. IDO will be the first to know when it is open. Maybe next week….. Yes, Rosie Reds through pre-spawn bite. Saugers Love Em’ !!! See you soon!!!!!
Locked in with Jason Beaulieu again this year. I just ride along, make sandwiches, net fish, bait hooks, you know what I mean…. right BK?
All right!!! WTG Dale Everts it is! For any anglers who are interested in the MMWS Circuit and maybe wondering what its about. I would like to give a bit of a testimony that it is a solid honest circuit. Dale does an awesome job at being very well organized and playing by the rules. I fished one in 2010, 3 in 2011 and 4 events last year. It’s a river circuit held on pools 4-9 so far. He makes sure everything is in place well in advance, very organized, very professional, does not make any exceptions, and he really fought for NTC spots for his anglers. Which means a lot to those of us who fish his circuit. It is also affordable. I mean, there aren’t alot of circuits you could have such a great shot at a Cabelas NTC, without spending a fortune. I was lucky enough to recieve a spot last year and very thank full for it. What a blast!!!!! Thanks for your hard work Dale, from all of us!!! This will be the fourth year Dale has had the circuit, each year it grows little by little. He is bound and determined to grow this circuit, he has and will continue. The same teams keep comming back as they are very pleased with how things have been handled in the past. The fact that teams must be in the Tues before the event keeps things fair also, no hinged decisions by the results from the day before bite, either your in or not!! Dale and Jenny put their heart into making sure all is done right and if you decide to fish you won’t be disappointed. We can’t wait, take off depends on registration so don’t wait too long! Hope to see you there, good fishing guys.
This is the first I herd about this, was busy all day and It is just not sinking in, Like many I wish I could help….. “Dear Lord, Please help these families, friends, community to be strong and pull thru this horrific tragedy.”
Two personal favs of mine for this time of year next to pitchin cranks or jigs w/cats at dams (: on the lake would to pull cranks thru suspended fish, I dont mean a few feet off the bottom, I mean a few ft under the surface, anywhere over any depth of water long as there is clouds a bait and also Rig deep points w/ cats or chubs.
Atta Boy!!! Love it! Nice Pic, Nice fish! Theres a ton of info in these posts! Thats absolutely awesome! I still cant get the image of that honey/char jig in that fish mouth outa my mind. I been praying for cool weather and normal fall myself. Warm SW winds were dominant most of last fall, ducks were confused… Cant wait til 5″ k grubs, huge chubs, and large cold water cranks all become irresistible!! soon…
Baahhh Ha ha !! Thats funny! Hey, Bk is that a lil chalk dust on your camera lense? (:
We struggled, Yet was enough to be fun! Ive been nosing around looking for posts on here, no luck. NOTE, there are huge floating trees everywhere. some mostly submerged, honestly difficult see, something to be ware of…
BIG THANKS…………. Thankyou guys for the positive input!!!! Glad to participate on this great site. We will continue to share and pass on reports. Hope to see you on the water! Good fishin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Havent been out muvh the last week and a half. Trying to get my work done to take a few days off this week for tournament on sat 3/17. Another reason I hesitated on posts. Again…. Oh well!!! Just really wanna help and share info if it helps people, anyone. POOL 5 has long been kept secret. Not that 5 is great, just say??? overlooked maybe?? If you know what I mean?? 2 weeks ago one morning my good friend was joking around how we always would hide big fish, take pic in wiggle waggle before release. Not now, those on the water see and people see where we at in pics.Anyhow, For those of you whom Ive gotten the pleasure to meet and talk to face to face I wanna say Thank you for stopping. Very very greatfull for that. Oh, people keep asking about Cranks, a lot of people keep asking. We had several fish grab em two days ago, just wouldnt quit wack it! Seen a few caught, nothin too good yet. IDK? Prooly Soon?? My notes show 38 deg as kind of the turn on temp. was 35 yest….. (: Good fishin guys!
Hi weis, I will fully swear the info I put in reports is fact. I even goy jacked big time about making posts, exposing info, Blah BLAH BLAH!! I say oh well!!! I am on here to help out in any way I can. Ive given up a pile of info and will continue to!!! I have no problem sacrificing whats working. Idk if those who are upset with me think they wont catch em if others do? or what? I dont care, ive put every dollar ive got into the sport shop, we need to help out in any way possible.! Randy and I here to help in any way we can. BS wont bring you guys back to p5! So……:) There are some good “thanks for the info” on our shop facebook that will attest to honest reports. Really, Really want to help in any way we can!!!!
Hi Mr sauger. Sorry I didnt get to ckeck computer the last few days. Actually it wouldnt connect to my wireless deal? now it connected/ wierd. idk what the heck. Stage is up a little, flow is up, now using 3/16 w/hardline and 1/4 with mono while dragging up. Clarity was about 12″ yesterday. Ive only been out 3 times the last week and a half. Went and camera wed, was hard to see. Fri 1/2 day trip we caught some shorts, only a few legals. 1-22″. Yesterday was better, no dought in my mind clients would have had boyh limits if the wind wasnt crazy!! kept 7, few shorts, biggest release was 26″. Saw another caught about the same and one about 5lbs also. p5 is plenty fish able!
Hi Mr Sauger, I’m not sure how to answer this? I slipped when I mentioned Guide trips. As far as no marketing a business under a personal name. Sorry, Hmmmm? I,m not sure how to clean this up? How do you private message??? Its got to be in front of my nose…..
The Landing is on the very south end of town by the feed mill. Yes there is a bait shop right across the road. Randy or myself will be glad to help you. The last post I made was from thursday. I have only made it out once since. That was on sunday, its been so windy, pushed guys away. I had equipment trouble all morning. Caught plenty when I got things straitened out for the afternoon. My buddy had one a fuzz over 11lbs. He said he would post it??? I took a pic of another friend with a 28.25 weighed 8.5-9lbs. I will post that pic tmrw, as I forgot the camera in boat… Fishing has been very good. The vertical bite is day to day yet, cranks are day to day also, but draging/pitching has been the best ive seen in 3 years. I put some info in other posts. Here is a couple tips…. Dont forget the water has gotn dirty, may have pushed fish shallower.(: (: (: We seldom fish over 12′, maybe 14 at times. Sunday was the first trip in 9 outings we didnt put at least a 7 pounder in the boat, 6 of those outings we put at least 1 big gal over 8lbs or bigger in the boat, all RELEASED. the biggest was 11lbs 4 oz. Pics of these fish are on previous posts. Last time we camera food was still no where to be found and fish are mostly scattered. Best advice from the other guys and myself who have been on 5 allot is to stay on the move, pull break-lines, seams, same as you would elsewhere. Im hoping to get out tomorrow, well I will because ive got trips on Thurs, sat, and Sunday. I will keep making reports, at least a couple per wk from the guys at 5 and myself for those of you interested. Another tip, Something I see boats around me doing continuously is fisherman are “dragging” to heavy of jigs. ??? Way too focused on hard line, soft line, speed, colors etc instead of (#1 making sure the jig is in the zone) Strike zone!…. You could put T-bone steak to a walleye in the river, if you don’t put it in the “zone” its not gonna get bit! In my opinion “dragging” should be called (swimming) I truly believe more would understand the concept. The guys were dragging their jigs thru the sand, not getting bit… VS. slowly swimming the jig over their head = WACK!!!!!!!!! I understand there are times when they turn on by banging bottom, but not lately. Food for thought….. Hope to have another report tmrw, Good fish’n folks!!!
The float is still open. This years kick off is march 24th??? I believe!
B fish N purple cracker, gold cracker, firecracker or any with char tail seam to rotate day to day during low light. BfishN pro blue, cotton candy, oyster, purple w/ pearl tail. all been good. My buddy has been doing well on moxi. 2 fish he caught dragging right next to me the other day had 1/2 the moxi hanging out the gill…….. Amazing! just wack’n it!!!!!!!!! I havent used em alot early. he will only use B fish N moxies, period. I know on dubuque rigs they were awesome last summer!!!
Hutch tackle 1/8oz wire keeper jig and cotton candy ringworm, also from hutch. we have had several fish that weighed more lately but this was a toad for 26.25. Hope to make it out fri, will report good or bad results from my boat, guys at the bait shop and anyone else who is willing to share info….
Certainly would like to, definately will try. Whats on your mind?
The fish were also released, forgot to mention that. Gee whiz it’s bugging the heck outa me too have had to leave this morning. Completely in attentive at work today, especially with the front that was on its way in this morn. I hope someone got to catch and release some of those fish today!!!!!
Hmmm? I would like to share a small tip. Something we’ve noticed is most fishermen are using firecracker/char nearly all the time? During hi sun like today, natural colors have been significantly better. Dominant colors have changed day to day but consistently natural colors during bright parts of the day and bright colors during low light! just food for thought…….
