Great one Chris! We had an awesome one tonight over here on the Fox River/ De Pere. And to top it off we were catching some really pretty 3-6# walleyes. Unfortunately……………………………. the camera was accidentally left at home, so no sunset shots…..would have been PERFECT holding those fish up with that red sunset in the background!!!!!!!!!!!!

went tonight from 3:45-5:30, caught 12 eyes, 3#-5.5#, only tried jigging tonight, no time for other methods…..was an awesome night w/ geese and ducks flying like crazy, gorgeous sunset, and moon out too!!!!! and to top it off…fish biting great and a beautiful greenish color to them!!!
October 29, 2006 at 1:47 pm #493382Oh yeah…. by the way… the big bait shop closed down a while ago (it was SUCH a good place to find some different stuff….but they started carrying big products they should have stayed away from!) ……. there’s a Gander Mountain on 41 at the Shawano/Dousman exit, a Sportsman’s warehouse in DePere off of 41, and a Fleet Farm off of 41 at the Shawano/Dousman exit. They may have more info. My fiance is a charter captain too and we’ve been hitting the area lately for fun…
October 29, 2006 at 1:43 pm #493381Hi…
Yep it is a great time to catch big eyes here. Just don’t plan to eat any fish you catch out of the river, or in the inner bay. (HUGE pcb levels here) You can fish right from shore in Voyageur Park in De Pere. It can get crowded but the fish are there. If you do end up in a boat out there, or do wade near the rocky shores or dam, just pitch cranks and you’ll be successful. If you end up in the boat near the channel, or breaks, flats, etc…. just jig and you’ll do fine too. There have been a lot of boats out there lately and you’ll see where they’re at.
Good luck
~JennOctober 29, 2006 at 1:33 pm #493377Yep I’d agree a bit with Jonny here… Depending on how long you want to keep that motor and the size of the tiller….an add on trim and tilt like Panther makes would be a good one. You might be able to find them used for a pretty good deal. I sold one used (almost new) for about 250 last year. Otherwise, depending on the make of the motor, some of those motor companies have add on trim and tilt kits you can purchase. What’s the size and make of the motor?
~jennJuly 11, 2006 at 3:31 pm #459535I used to run off shore but since the first time i fished with my fiance and used church boards, i now only run church boards. i think they’re a lot easier to get the boards off when there are big fish on, and they run nicely. we never use flags on them…..have always found them easy to read, even in rough conditions….
jennJuly 11, 2006 at 3:25 pm #459533We use prop guards from Cabela’s…. careful though the way they have them listed in the catalog does not really match the right motors….we figured that out after having to order 3 x…..
`jennJune 7, 2006 at 3:55 am #451965We run with flags down. Makes it easier for dropping boards back (when say you drop the middle board back or inside when you have a fish on the outside board) and running lots of lines and not having to worry about lines getting caught on flags in rough conditions.
Works either way……
you will LOVE running boards!!!! opens the door to more fish in the boat!June 7, 2006 at 2:28 am #451923Nothing like making us jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice pics though….
an AWESOME place to fish………. so many spots!!!!!!
have fun,
jennJune 2, 2006 at 11:39 pm #451070My brother has a beagle who has seizures… He’s on meds for it, from the vet. He’s had them for about 6 years now (he’s twelve now)
April 14, 2006 at 1:01 pm #438199cool pic
Didn’t know they’d get that close to each other without the rabbit running…April 14, 2006 at 1:00 pm #438198Great pic
Heard about the possibility of it happening here too (suburbs – Milwaukee area) but they didn’t fall where I was at….. was wondering what that would look like if it did…and now I can see it! almost live with how quick you posted that!
~JennApril 14, 2006 at 12:55 pm #438195Awesome fish
Did they go out there on their own or did they have a guide? We’re planning on going out there some time; but, it’s a pretty far haul for us so I’d rather fly out there and hire a guide I guess (although it would be fun to take our tackle and our boat)…. since they went out there, do they know any good guides out there?
Thanks
JennApril 7, 2006 at 4:21 am #436564Sure DID notice 9th! That is my fiance! I was at work still….not able to get a hold of him on the cell….saw it online first….and was looking at weights and not names….saw two guys had zeros and super weights today….looked to see the names out of curiosity (not thinking nate was on there yet) and just about flipped out of my chair…
March 28, 2006 at 10:24 pm #434017Yikes that is no fun….I did that once in a snow storm….shouldn’t have been out. Hit a patch so slick that within a mile there were 7 of us all spun out….
March 25, 2006 at 2:50 am #433190lol I just caught the part about the board being dragged under like a bobber…good one….that is always fun when that happens! hard to pull it in but fun when they go under all the way due to a big fish…..that happened to us on bay de noc once…. toward cedar river….. first we thought it was hung up (the line)……..then we couldn’t tell what it was………ended up being a HUGE carp…… it was hilarious…….
March 25, 2006 at 2:48 am #433188It does not matter which you set it up for. We use the Church boards too….but without flags. In the past I’ve used flags…having them up first will not affect them with wind due to surface area like you mentioned…..If it is windy enough for that to occur, the wave action will override the surface area being hit by the wind. Hope you like the boards…..I like the way they run and the way they are easy to quickly take line off of when there is a fish on.
March 23, 2006 at 12:47 am #432430I missed those pics the other day…..what is that pic from? i see “ranch” on the pic but that’s it….
March 19, 2006 at 5:37 am #431315Actually it’s not a pain at all…it’s pretty fun… The wire you’re holding gets heavy when a fish is on….yes the spring loaded reel helps pull the wire in…..it is really neat feeling the fish and knowing there’s just wire or line between you and it…no reel and no rod…. once you get to just the line and the wire’s been retracted….it can get fun when a big one is on…. ……. it’s honestly not hard to get them in deep water…..it’s so easy to get the lines down fast with the heavy weight on the end of the wire…. it’s awesome how quickly you can adjust and keep your lines down when the depths change quickly….great for going over humps or across contours….
hopefully you’ll get to try it some time!March 19, 2006 at 5:31 am #431312In addition to the above….Sony also makes waterproof casing for some of their digitals and videocameras…..
March 19, 2006 at 5:27 am #431311Hmmmm…………would have to agree with some of the posts above…….so many situations in which to use different Rapalas…. one thing is for sure……..you can never have enough of them!!!!! There used to be a time when I first started walleye fishing that I just stuck to shad raps…..but then I realized what I was missing out on and had to expand the collection about…..well…..significantly…………
Most commonly used of them would have to be shad raps, both shallow running and deep (numerous sizes and colors), floating rapalas (numerous sizes and colors), and Taildancers (various sizes and colors…..those would be my top three styles……some of the others get use too…..but not as much….or not as frequently throughout the year……March 19, 2006 at 5:15 am #431308Yes, Smokey’s was the one I was talking about…I was only in it a few times….
March 14, 2006 at 3:33 am #429714Hey you’re close by to me! Being from Pewaukee you must have been to the only bait shops on the lake there…. the one the Laimon’s own……their daughter was my student teacher…… great people! Nice you have a nice lake so close to you!
March 13, 2006 at 2:28 am #429343Wish I could have an entire room for it!
Yes Sherry I try to fit it in there….but time is always hard to find…..I’m sooooooooo behind on updating our books..March 7, 2006 at 3:31 am #427299It will be a lot easier running boards if you’re lures will run those depths….rather than running them on dipsy’s…..dipsy’s are fun…..but we’ve always run those when we want to get both down and out…. rather than just out… we run Church boards….. I used to use the off shore boards…..when I started using the Church ones I thought I’d miss the Offshore…but it’s totally to the contrary, I’ll never go back to the Offshore!…..I really like the way the Church boards snap on and off…. rather than the two snaps, they have the one snap, and the other goes behind the pin…they track great too……
March 6, 2006 at 5:01 pm #427071We’ve been running ProMariner three bank chargers….they have worked great for a few years now…used to run Guest and Dual Pro before that…
ProMariner has a huge selection for different chargers…. I think it’s http://www.promariner.com but not sure….
