I have a dock on the main lake and have had bass on beds for almost 3 weeks now they are starting to leave the nests in some areas so some will be post spawn also. The earliest i have ever seen up there!!!

If you fish tonka enough you should know someone always catches them. I have never fished a tournament out there in 9 years that someone has not caught a big bag.

The fish last year were ahead of where they are now. I caught 7 fish in the 4# range in 5 1/2hours yesterday and a lot of 2.5 to 3# fish. All of the big fish were pre spawn and the flats that only had 2 or 3 beds on them in the morning had as many as 15 smallmouth beds on them in the afternoon. Look for most of the pre spawn and the fish that just got done spawning to be on the inside weed lines for a couple of days after spawning. I caught all of my fish on weightless senko type baits. This bite should last for the next week to week and a half. Then they will all tbe in their post spawn pattern.

Both lotus and barvaria are great lakes grew up between both of then fished them both lots and caught many 5+’s on both. If you can flip foil you will be fine. pads can be good also.

Tonka is a differant lake most. You can have pre spawn fish in one part of the lake and post spawn fish in another. Most fish on tonka are not done spawning by opener. Most fish will spawn where you can’t see them or are to deep to be seen by the untrained eye. Alot of the lake is to dirty to see most of them. I have caught bed fish in tonka in as deep as 12 feet of water and some small mouth as late june 20. As far as how deep you can catch them. I have a couple carolina rig spots where I am fishing rocks in up to 30 feet of water.
