I don’t use anything other than Chef Roberts, but if you don’t care for tartar sauce, give Miracle Whip mixed with Thousand Island a try.

Some inside and some outside. I have a custom cover for the boat, but maybe that doesn’t matter much when it’s outside???
Received good news from Crestliner this evening. They reviewed my photo’s and have determined that it will be covered under warranty .
October 8, 2011 at 1:09 pm #1000079Stopped at a local Crestliner dealer yesterday and was told my boat is not a part of the recall. They suggested that I contact Crestliner directly about the problem. Went on the Crestliner site and filled out a form describing the situation. I received an email back in a couple of hours, which I thought was good as I didn’t expect to hear from them until Monday. The Crestliner rep asked me to send photo’s of the floor so they can determine if it is a warranty issue or not. Will be taking photo’s today. I’ll keep you posted.
I believe the dealer said that the ’00 Fishhawk was not a part of the recall either, but who knows. I guess I would contact Crestliner directly.
October 7, 2011 at 1:18 am #999807Thanks for the info. everyone. It is a 2000 Rampage. I don’t think there are too many of these around, but it is Crestliner’s V-hull deck boat. I believe it is the same hull as the Fish Hawk???
I did a little research on the floatation recall and I think it sounds like there’s a chance it’s a part of the recall. I will contact a dealer to verify.
Thanks for the info and link regarding Dustin’s repair guy !
Much appreciated!
On a side note, I just want to tell somebody that I just unsheathed my brand new St. Croix LegendXtreme late this afternoon . Can’t wait to give her a workout on the pond next week!!!
October 6, 2011 at 7:25 pm #999695Best of luck Tom! I will be heading in for my 3rd kidney stone surgery later this month. As others have said, the recovery will vary depending on which type of procedure you are having. I can tell you this, lithotripsy would be much preferred over the “basket” method. I’ve experienced both and much prefer the sound waves breaking the stones to bits rather than having Doc shove a basket up your unit to retrieve the stone(s). Either way it’s not too bad.
If they end up putting a stent in, just make sure your couch is close to the toilet — you’ll be heading in for a wiz about every 15 minutes. Also, if you have a stent and decide to remove it yourself, I hope you have long arms. It’s amazing how long that tube is. You’ll be pulling longer than would imagine.

September 25, 2010 at 8:40 pm #900694JohnnyB,
On a side note, if you and your wife are planning any other activities while in Key West, you might want to consider a day trip to historic Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park. It was probably the favorite of our trip. You can take a tour of the fort and then go swimming or snorkeling around the outside walls of the fort. It also has the nicest sand beach in the Key West area.
Also, if you plan on spending any time at the beaches in Key West and plan on going in the water, be sure you have water shoes or your feet will be hurting . The beach in the Dry Tortugas does not require water shoes.
I wish I was heading back there! You are going to love it.
September 25, 2010 at 4:47 pm #900679We used Capt. Robbie Nevius out of Key West Pro Guides http://www.keywestproguides.com in late March March of 2008. I don’t know if you’ve been to Key West before, but they are located right on the edge of town as you are driving into Key West.
It’s been awhile now, but some things I recall about the trip. Our scheduled day to head out with Capt. Robbie was very cold and windy. We touched base the night before and he was very accommodating and worked around our schedule to get us out on a nicer day later in the week.
We ended up doing a 1/2 day trip and started out trying to catch a shark. Sitting there with four of us staring at a rod in a holder waiting for a shark to bite is not my idea of fishing. I had my wife and two children with, ages 14 & 10 at the time, and wanted to get rods into their hands. After about an hour of sharkin’, the Capt. took us to a wreck where we caught a few barracuda and a cobia. The cobia was great on the grill that evening!
Looking back on the trip, my biggest suggestion for you no matter which guide service you use, would be to be very specific about what your expectations are. I thought I had communicated this properly with our captain, but apparently not. I told him the ages of our children and made sure he understood before I booked the trip that we spend a lot of time on the water as a family, and that the kids handle a rod & reel very well for their ages. I guess I should have reiterated that again the night before or the morning of our trip.
It was a great experience to be on the water in Key West. It would have been nice to have had a little more action, but we did catch some fish. The only other thing that bugged me a little about the trip was that Capt. Robbie had to bring us in a little early because he had to pick up his daughter. As a parent, I understand those things happen.
Good luck and have a great time!
March 20, 2010 at 2:25 pm #855567I’m debating whether to head to the X tonight. If I knew Roe would be playing it would make the decision a little easier. If he doesn’t play, I think we need another shutout to win.
I’ll probably just watch from home and hope that they are playing in the regional at the X next weekend. Sure would be nice if FSN would broadcast the Final 5 in HD.
As much as I enjoy college hockey, it’s amazing how quickly life is put into perspective when someone suffers a serious injury. I wish Roe a speedy and complete recovery.
GO HUSKIES!!!
November 11, 2009 at 12:28 am #815062Thanks for the link. I’ll see what my mechanic thinks. Will also place a call to my insurance agent tomorrow.
Appreciate everybody’s help!
November 10, 2009 at 12:10 am #814867The initial report doesn’t sound good . If I understood the repair guy correctly, there was a seal already broken before the water in the lower unit froze, causing the drive shaft to freeze. He said the bearings had basically welded to the drive shaft . Still pricing out parts, but it sounds like we’re looking at $1625 – $2500 .
November 9, 2009 at 2:09 pm #814739Thanks for the input everyone. I hope to get it in somewhere today to have it looked at. I will let you know what they find.
I didn’t loan the boat to anyone, and that is the original prop. Until 3-4 weeks ago, the boat was sitting in northern MN and there were some pretty cold nights. I remember hitting a rock early this fall, but at very low speed.
November 8, 2009 at 7:19 pm #814616I was afraid of that. What can I expect the repair bill to run? The motor is a Honda 90 h.p. 4 stroke.
October 22, 2009 at 12:04 am #810703I have the identical charger and battery set-up (Cabela’s AGM’s). Parked the boat outside last winter and unplugged once a month as suggested without any issues. Batteries performed better than ever this spring and summer . Wish I would have had this set-up years ago. I could have saved some pulled fat…(I mean muscles) trying to wrestle those deep cycles out each fall.

There is some ticket service across the street from the dome. They were located in Hudson but moved to Minneapolis when the law changed. Sorry I don’t know their name but somebody here will chime in.

Mine is AWD all the time. I have never had an issue at any of the ramps near Garrison — or anywhere else. Good luck!
September 11, 2008 at 9:43 pm #711071I have an ’01 with 180,000 miles on it. I have an 18′ Crestliner and have never had a problem at a ramp. Never been stuck, but haven’t attempted to pull any stumps or taken it on the ice.
May 29, 2008 at 1:20 pm #688734Sounds similar to problems I had in the spring of ’05 & ’06 with my Honda 90 4 stroke. On both occasions, the carbs had gummed up over the winter. I had a tech tell me to use Evinrude 2+4 each time I fill and then run a bottle of Ring Free through for about a 1/2 hour on my last trip of the season. I had been using Sea Foam, but he said Sea Foam & Stabil weren’t strong enough. Following his recommendations, I only use premium gas and winterize the motor myself. Not a problem since.
December 4, 2007 at 3:04 pm #629734Too bad they didn’t keep Shula in the booth for the finish so we could hear him like a baby. I’m not a Pats fan, but hope they go undefeated so we never have to hear about the ’72 Dolphins and their champagne ever again. What a bunch of classless PUKES!
November 6, 2007 at 11:01 pm #622927Don’t apologize. Chili is still a clown…and always will be! Don’t give him too much credit. Someone probably took his Perkins menu and wrote a giant 28 on it.
At this point, I don’t think he has proven he is a viable Pop Warner coach. The bad thing about Peterson being such a stud, is that it will undoubtedly prolong the agony of having Chili as our coach.

Good luck everybody!

October 28, 2007 at 3:35 pm #18036It’s great to hear stories about bosses who notice and genuinely appreciate when their employees are going that “extra mile”.
Way to go and enjoy. Sounds like you deserved it!

October 23, 2007 at 11:50 am #618854We made our fall trip to Rainy last year Nov. 15-17. Other than the guides on our rods freezing up a bit and having to break 5-10 feet of ice at the landing in the morning, it was a great trip.
We are heading up early tomorrow morning for a few days! It may be tough to accomplish much at work today, as I am battling a serious case of short timers disease.
