KEEP IT UP!!!! I just came back from Mayo after two weeks of cancer surgery and treatment and it was hard to walk the halls watching some of the people. It may prevent you from being one of those people…..
Cornbread…As my wife’s aunt from the mountains of Virgina would say… ” do you want cornbread or Yankee cornbread…”
I want to thank everyone for the suggestions. I went to Newts and it was awesome. I am going to have to spend a week down there for some treatment; at least my wife will have a list of places to try….My last meal before treatment will be the BBQ place suggested…You guys rock
Mike, good deep dish done right is hard to find. But when you find a great place it is a nice change up from thin crust and I love thin crust.
Thanks all… sounds like the kids will have fun and I get to fish which is even better
as a transplant from the suburbs in chicago- lou malnati’s is the best shipped pizza, but not worth the money. We make all of our pizzas from scratch (elk river is not a pizza paradise)- thin, pan (double dough) to pan..the closet pizza to deep dish up here is from frankies– if in the metro it will pass. GOOD LUCK in the pizza quest– the food is the only thing I miss….
i believe Mike Holt from MTT is running one. He or his staff may be good to ask.
big change in the flow and ice/debris in elk river this am….its heading your way yesterday there was not much floating yesterday in the river…today was a different story tons of ice and debris
what will this do to pool 4 with the damn dam repair?? will they try to draw it down early?
as someone who used to fish 14 every weekend. wing dams are key and in between them can be good as well. learn some of the sloughs as well!
Splitshot–
Im the one to be erked at–sorry but thanks for the heart felt handshake. I sure expected an 11+ to come in both days. But a big congrats to mike sr and jr–great call to move spots when you did.
James
if you ever get a chance to hook up with someone from the detriot river/st clair river area that handlines, they are the people to ask questions as a whole. i have from taylor, mi whose dad has been pulling wire for 30 years, its an art form to land a pig
——————————————————————————–
Go down to Cosetta’s on 7th Street in St. Paul and buy their sauce and sausage.
They also sell their dough as well–great sausage
Homemade sauce is easy–stewed tomatoes, garlic herbs and the food proc, living in the sticks jimmy dean italian sausage will do–when back home to the suburbs of chicago-one pizza joint owner will give me sauce and dough
twin fans are out numbered in my neighborhood–sox-both red and white–and stinking cub fans
as a sox fan good luck with crede–seemed liked he was always hurt or something was nagging. seemed liked he never new to hit for power or avg. i never think he lived up to the hype of his agent– i believe scott boras..he will be a good 6-8 hitter in the twins lineup if healthy for more than a month
i have been fishing that area for over 25 years—great fishery wind driven shoot me a pm, i have a few sleeper lakes in the area
i have chased smallies and walleyes all over the great lakes and midwest. I currently live in MN and find Mille Lacs hard to beat size and numbers. The upper Mississippi River is very good as well. Rainey lake is also a good time doing the houseboat thing. The Vilas/Iron counties area of upper Wisc also has some great smallie fising in the spring as well–small lakes and flowages.
i love the two line debate with joe fellegy, it lights a fire under his a%$.
raps, rogues and old style storm jr thundersticks. some of the old nilsmaster stick baits work as well
weagle is a good one and the phat boy by musky buster is a good one also
about two maybe two and half years ago walmart under the radar announced it was cutting and elimanted hunting and fishing supplies—no margins according to them….at the time it led to layoffs at some major suppliers
i use a snap also if just using a weight—but if i am using a thumper jig..aka dubque rig…i use a lure wrap–i have even seen some us a bread tie
I also agree- I used to sell eskimo/yukon/river edge products and always had good feed back on their customer service and my sales rep always had a response for me with any issue with 24 hrs……
that is the same i am hearing —the deal is dead–bass pro was looking for some deal/tax break
