I use to fish Lake Mich all the time and I had an 18 foot Star craft that had a 70 hp motor. I fished in 4 foot waves many times and my dad and his friend had it at Pentwater and they ran into some close to 5 foot he said. Had it for many years and never had a leak or any problems with it. This was in the mid 80’s

Do a search on You Tube and a guy on there explains how to make a snow dog and shows each step with pictures. Real simple. Many have been made using a 6.5 HP motor with good results but I think they would work better with a little more HP but it all depends on how they are geared

I will tellyou about the service I got on my last new boat. I bought it in Aug and used it thru Oct that year. Next spring I used it on the local lake with no problems. We went to Canada in June Wife and I went for a ride along the shoreline and saw several large muskies in a shallow bay. My son and I went back to try for them halfway there the motor locked up. Froze up tight. I was 15 miles from the camp and when we got back I found a local dealer. Called them and was told to bring it in. They dropped what they were doing and tore it apart while we were there. The guy working on it said a bearing froze up causing the lower unit to eat itself up. He went to the parts room and came back a short while later. They had most of the parts but there were several that they need and the main one was in BC Canada. They overnighted all the parts and This was Sunday and I had the boat back on Tuesday. The part that blew my mind is the owner came out handed me the keys to a boat they had in the water and said use it until we get yours done. This dealer got my business every year we went back after that. The dealer I bought the boat from in the states told me he could not have got the parts that fast

I had this done many years ago and they made a cut in one of the lines at the back of my hand about 1/2 long went in did what they do and was out. It was done as out pat. and the first day was out of it, the second day could move my fingers and pick up light things. The biggest problem I had was keeping the bandage clean while I built a loader for one of my tractors. I did 2 week rehab and then was released from Dr’s care. Insurance company would not let me go back to work for 2 months but I didn’t care as it was mushroom season. I had no swelling and no pain never took a pain pill.

I had a bear problem when I had mine out. I was told to run a cable between 2 trees and hang the feeder in the middle up high enough so the bear could not get it. One end of the came is hooked so you just lower the cable to fill the feeder. It worked. Now for the bird feeder on the deck, they come up on the deck and get them so when it starts to warm up we take them down

    I want $15hr…

I not only want 15.00 an hour I need it, then I can go to class and learn how to count out change. LOL I really feel sorry for some of the people that cannot count out change. No I don’t make fun of them but it seems like if they are going to be handling money they someone should have made sure they could do it the proper way

Went to Menards to buy some Indoor-Outdoor carpeting for the wooden floor I was making for my 14 ft boat. Bought like 6 yds of carpeting as it was on sale for approx. $2.50 per yard. Clerk told me ” that will be $2.50 sir”. I said it should be $2.50 x 6….She didn’t get it after explaining twice….I gave her $2.50 and did a dance in the parking lot. Finally my turn…..

Must be the one that worked over here moved to your side of the lake. I had 20 foot of outdoor carpet and they tagged it price X 20. Checkout girl said no it is whatever the price per foot was. After trying to explain to her a couple of times I paid and left

My neighbor has one and he has a lawn and garden trailer that he uses behind his. He said that he wishes that his had reverse. We took the trailer he has and put skis on it from an old snowmobile using the springs and mounting bracket. He had trouble getting traction on clear ice so I told him to get some screws that they use in cycle tires and we put these in his track. He said they made a big difference. The trailer he bought is a real small one and he put a board across the front to sit on like a buggy. I was surprised at how deep of snow he goes thru pulling that trailer

If you can find them try some of the Jack Dan. whiskey oak barrel chips leaves a very good flavor in the meat. I bought a bag at Wal Mart but have not seen any in the stores since

It’s a common problem with those plastic fuel tanks, they permeate fuel odors.Tank was probably made by Moeller.I had that issue with a 1998 ProV.Removed the floor panel to check for problems, and found none.

The only real fix is to replace tank with a non-permeating type.Or just open all hatches when not using it.

My tank is made by Moeller. It has a tag on it telling the gallons and model number. One more thing is when I changed the lines they just fell apart when I started working on them. I have no idea if these were from the factory or not. That is one thing I was sure glad I replaced

I thought about that. I may pull the inspection plate up and clean that area up real good and try silicone on it first. If that stops it I will replace that gasket. I don’t notice it on the water but sitting in the barn I can smell it

Congrats to him and you for taking time t take him. I took my next to the youngest grandson out the last 3 years. He shot bucks the first 2 but none this year as the one we saw would not give him a clear shot. The second day at daylight a bear came into the clearing at about 50 feet and that set him off big time. He had his mind made up that each year he would shoot a bigger one that the year before. The one he got last year was a point shot at 210 yds with one shot and it was down. I had a lot of fun watching him and sitting with him. He wanted to shoot something so the last day I let him shoot an ear of corn the deer knocked off. I was kind of proud as he hit dead center using my rifle which was my grandfathers left to me in 1963. I have used it every year and missed a few years when I was overseas in the miltary

If you get it fixed please post on here what they did to fix it. My Pro V does the same thing. I replaced all the vent lines and fill line but still get fumes. I don’t have any gas leakage just fumes. The only way that I can see for the fumes to get into the rod storage areas is thru the tubes that th wires are run thru. My next step will be is to block those in the bilge with steel wool and see if that works

I used to use a T shape weight that you could bend when the line was wraped up. I made mine using a sand mold. Just take one on your weights and press it into the sand and pour lead in it. The sand had to be just moist enough to hold its shape. I don’t know why you could not do the same

This was brought up on another site and they used road cones to hold the PVC tubes up. I think some of the tall ones have a loop on the top of them

    Great advise Steve

For short term stuff, I use
3M SCOTCHLOK Quick Splice Wire Connector – Blue Gel – 14-18 AWG model # 804

If you can find a trailer place or other local store, they seem to run about $1.25 each. Online I get them for about $.35 each

Why any trailer or boat manufacture doesn’t use them just blows my mind. $70,000.00 boat and they use the cheapest dam connectors they can find.

    …….

    Those things should be illegal…..

I cringe every time I see one or hear somebody talking about them….

Solder and shrink tube is 27 million times better.

If it’s susceptible to the elements, I add some liquid electrical tape to really seal the deal.

Totally agree. With all deference to 3M’s other fine products, Quick Splice connectors are the spawn of Satan.

When I see any wiring job that uses those POS quickie splices, I immediately start tearing it apart and just assume that ever Quickie Slickie splice is bad.

For an emergency repair that had to be done quickly, I might use one. For anything that has to last more than a day, no way.

    Grouse
The best thing about the use of this connector is, if you have a wiring problem they make it easy to find the trouble. Just cut them out and you are good to go

Get the larger one. I went thru this several years ago and he outgrew the 80 Honda fast. Ended up with a 110 Honda and that was a bigger frame so he rode it until we go a 250. I sold the 110 to a gun club I belonged to and they use it to set steel plate targets with adults driving it

That is a good point because the one in Houghton Lake starts putting snowmobiles out in the end of Aug. I see they already have a few out now. Might be worth a call

Take a road trip to Houghton Lake Mich. They have most models right on the lot ready to drive away. The lake is right across the street and you could test drive it. There is another place at Gun Lake Mich which may also have them. They are honest people and I have bought a couple of boats from them. I don’t know if I could put the names on her or not but it may be worth a call

I usually check to make sure the factory has not run a ground wire all the way back and to each light. Most do not so I run a single ground wire full length of the trailer and to each light. This is then grounded thru the plug and truck wire system. I have a trail master trailer and they ran a separate ground wire to each light and I have never had any problems with the lights on it

When I lived downstate I had a 25 foot boat and fished Lake Mich a lot. Several times I took some of the Vets I knew from the area. My dad was a WW 2 vet and he would get to talking to some of them and they had the best of time. The stories they told sometimes had me almost tears. My dad never talked much about the war but when he got with these guys he opened up. The most memorable one was a guy that fought in the battle of the bulge. Check with your local VA and I am sure you will get some takers. The guys from the Viet Nam era were the quietest and I under stood as I served during that time
