I dont really like to be within 60-80 yards of someone. If theres a hole there though Ill use it. Used a group that had probably 80 holes on a slough and used quite a few this weekend while keeping my distance and drilling a few myself.

If you want a lightweight shack that packs small, the Eskimo Quickfish 2 or 2i would be my route. You can squeeze two people into one of them (1 hole each) but your gear will be outside. I had a 2i for a few years and it was a very easy shack to transport and heat. Honestly wouldn’t mind picking one up again, as I’ve been doing some more adventurous trips where I don’t pack the larger hub. Been using the striker suit for them, but it would be nice to have a spot to thaw out the gear at times.

If you went any lighter than the 2i, I would have concerns about the fabric durability. Some hunting blinds might be less weight, but my experience has been that the fabric on those tear pretty easily in the cold.

Good feedback ! Thanks ! I usually just use the striker suit as well – but at times when the winds nipping and its 10 degrees or less it gets a little tough to keep at it. And the dang line freezes.

Son of a … ! I just bought one of these gems this summer . Needed some AC in my garage . Even built a custom ledge for it to ride on .

How was the mounting process? I need one mounted on a glass boat but I’ll be honest little gun shy on doing it myself . What’s a dealer charge for this process ?

I’m not saying you should shoot em but someone has to try.

How did they get an air tag on one?

I grew up in pretty rural small town – someone would def be shooting one down . Rifle in every other truck come coyote season .

What’s crazy is how often these drones are used in the Russia Ukraine war . Tons of videos on Reddit that aren’t for the faint of heart.

This is one of the reasons I’ve stayed away from lithium for my Reata. It’s out in the cold almost year round and pulling the batteries from the front is an absolute chore.

Yep – I like the way a guy put it once , like a hot babe , very attractive, lots of perks but pretty damn high maintenance too .

What’s the difference between that and dewalt and Milwaukee tool batteries used in construction ? I leave mine in the garage all winter . I take the big ones inside to charge for the ice auger but I always thought as long as your not charging them your good .

For what it’s worth I went surf fishing in Indian rocks beach last winter around February and had a dang good time . I just packed a reel spooled up and some basic tackle and bought a rod down there . Caught 4/5 species of fish but nothing over 15 inches . Still beats just walking on the beach in the morning for me .

I have 3 birds on my boat . Wish I had 3 garmins now . Only real positive I thought was they pre load all the graphs with lake master for all states now and the way point integration .

If they’d make them networkable to helix units they’d sell a ton more …

Where are you located? I’m interested in the turbo swing, you know what size it is?

    Thanks,
    Adam

Rochester MN . I believe it is the giant size according to the turbo swing size finder . It doesn’t have any markings on it to indicate size – it came on the boat so not the guy who originally purchased it .

Bumping this to the top … possible weekend getaway with the wife. Need a flushable toilet ( her request ) . Good fishing is a plus . Have an atv and all the gear as well to hop around . Would rather not have to take a 30 minute bomber ride out .

Lower profit margins, drop prices especially with interest rates and actually move machine.

It will be interesting to see if this actually happens. Remember how long we’ve seen these “day of reckoning” posts with guys predicting price crashes in the boat industry because, after all, these crazy-high prices can’t last…

Pretty interesting all the days of reckoning rumors I’ve heard but never come to fruition. Used boat market cheapened up a little but that’s all I’ve seen .

If I had to pick one rifle it would be my Tikka 22-250 with the can . Thing really puts a wallop on them . Considered going to a 243 as well . Killed a ton with standard ar-15 in 223 as well . The 22-250 bang flops them a lot better and I’d bet the 243 is even better although much rougher on the hide if that’s your thing .

Awesome . I gotta get out and try that . I have a full thermal and suppressor setup just haven’t used it since I moved to the city . We called in eastern Montana once and it was crazy easy compared to the pressured stuff we hunted in Iowa .

Depending where your at I have the wrench to replace the caps on the trim cylinders . Easy job . Make sure you replace the harmonic balancer on that engine if it’s an older series . Older than 2014 I think ? My 05 needed it .

Norfin Yukons. It’s EVA rubber (like crocs) that has insulative properties on its own. It’s also 100% waterproof and lighter than any other waterproof boot. I bought the Klondike’s, but the rubber sole is starting to peel away now on my 5th season or so. The built in cleats on the klondike broke off after my 2nd season or so, and I always preferred microspikes anyways.

I had Norfin klondiaks and really liked them other than the flip down cleat broke and then I tried taking ‘em off and screwed up the boot,. Had mucks and was never really impressed. I have Baffin titans for this season and they seem crazy thick compared to the others . Time will tell .

All very interesting stuff of the outboard world ! Sounds the mercury was bad luck more than bad mechanicing. Did that thing sit a long time to make its condition that rough ?

I love a good livescope debate . I would still argue to say there’s less than 5 percent using it to its full potential . Go to the redwing dam on the current seem on the Wisconsin side snd look around at the scopers . Are they catching anymore than anyone else ? Rarely .

My buddy has scope and 5 garmin 10s on his boat – while it’s certainly interesting he hasn’t mastered the pick off the big ones technique . Still does a ton of trolling .

Now the tournament boys …. They got it figured out . Watch tour level gold on YouTube . Great show following the NWT . But your average Joe that goes 10 times a year on the water aren’t really a threat in my opinion . Yet …

Grew up with Labs and they never spent a day inside. Had a kennel and a dog house. During they day they were out on the two acres. We would try hay or blankets in the winter and they would kick them out. These dog’s were the best hunting dogs. Dogs lived and survived outside long before we moved them inside our house.

If you want a dog for a pet hen treat them like a pet. If you want a working dog then treat them like a working dog.

Before I get attacked for this our dogs were well taken care of and loved. Our dogs always out performed any dog that lived inside.

We had an outside lab with a heated pad , bed , straw bedding, ect. Sucker would chew up the bed or drag it outside and sleep. Would hardly sleep inside on that pad . We tried and tried. Nope . Rather sleep outside. When it got real cold we put him inside the garage but he hated it .

How many guys with helix g4s were waiting for mega live 2 to come out before switching to garmin ? Birds choice to not make mega live 2 work in helix units is going to cost them a ton of market share I personally think. Will be garmin for my next live unit because of this .

No trail cameras , no leases , no box blinds , just a group of guys out in orange doing deer drives killing deers . The only good old days I like talking about. Memory of my childhood I’ll never forget .

Does he have a 4 stroke outboard ? Oil change kit or maintenance kit for that make and model. A dealer should be able to help you.
