I’m guessing the phone calls were pre-event? Smells of the Bass Lake Gang

My hat truly goes off to Sportsman’s for taking a chance on this tournament. You guys put your necks out there and it payed off big time!! I wish other stores like Gander, and Bass Proshop would give back to communities and kids like you did. I can’t count the number of people that praised Sportsman’s on Saturday! I’m also glad to hear that you donated to the Bass Lake tourney. It shows that your in it for the right reasons, and your the bigger better person.

All I can say is what an oustanding touney! I can’t believe it was their first shot at this thing. I won a St. Croix combo When I went up to get my prize I saw the announcer giving kids free Superman poles. I never wanted to be 8 years old so badly! The kids were in high heaven. I must have seen 50 kids running around with those poles.

Fellas, did any of you stick around after the top 50 were raffled off? About 75-100 people stuck around and listened as the guy kept raffling off prizes. I was there till around 4, and he was still raffling! Not many of us standing around won, so there should be alot of surprised people Toward the end of the raffling the man announcing all day did the neatest thing for everyone that stuck around. He went in the trailer and grabbed a huge box of monoculars and grab bags of bait. Everyone of us standing around got one or several of each He thanked us for sticking around and supporting New Richmond youth. As far as the quality and number of prizes given out, and all around atmosphere ..best tourney I’ve been to!
    Can’t wait for next year!!!

Great job New Richmond and Sportsman’s Warehouse

I just spoke with a representative of the tourney on the early bird drawing. I was told they are drawing at noon today. They are going to call the winners today, and post them on their website. I guess their school day was canceled due to weather so the website will be updated asap. I also asked about limit on the tickets. There will be 1500 tickets. I was told almost 1/4 are sold already for the early bird drawing, so if you want to get in the tourney I’d buy your tickets now. They said they are coming out with an updated poster with a more detailed prize list and ticket locations. I asked about the ticket locations because there is only two on the poster I seen. You can now get them at:
    Sportsman’s Warehouse (Woodbury)
    New Richmond High School
Russell’s Bait Shop and Fonda’s Bar (Star Prairie)
    Lucky’s Bait (Amery)
    Head Coaches from New Richmond
    St. Croix Outdoors (St.Criox Falls)

My fingers are crossed that my phone rings!!

Wow! Did someone break your jig sticks Outdoors and Outdoors4life? Your going to put down an entire tournament ment to raise funds for kids because the DQ put up some gift certificates? I’ve fished Brainerd for the last 5 years, outstanding tournament! However lets not forget they have been running that tournament for 19 years, and it’s ran by the entire community. I also like that the funds raised go to a local charity. In this tournament I can get 3 holes for $60, and if that $60 can help buy an underprivileged kid skates it’s worth every cent. I believe that helping kids is more important than me taking home another marcum camera, and I give credit to Sportsman’s for putting their reputation on the line to help these kids. I wish more corporate businesses would do this for kids. Lets not forget fellas we are outside doing what we love, and at the same time helping a worthy cause! Slamming a tournament like this is wrong. Some of us have more money in fishing equipment then these kids have ever seen.

I just checked the site and it works on my computer. Try it again. I know for a fact that the contest is catch and release. I’m not sure the lake is going to get “pounded” by a 3 hour fishing contest.
I’ve been to these contest in the past and you’d be surprised on how many fish are not caught, regardless of the number of fisherman. I think it’s for a good cause, and the prize list is outstanding…I’ll be there!

I just got off the phone with a representative for the tournament, if you have any question call the number 715-243-1262 . I truly believe this tournament is going to be a great one! Here’s the scoop I just received. 25 tagged fish, 2 are worth a $30,000 vehicle prize package, the other 23 are worth $100 cash. They are paying out the top 50 fish with the grand prize for largest fish being a 2008 Polaris 300 sportsman ATV. The next 49 are augers, shacks, flashers, binos, guided fishing packages, gift certificate, and the list went on. I was told that beyond the tagged fish they have prizes totalling over $90,000. They also have a deal where you can bring your significant other and get 2 holes for $30. Both of your tickets then go in a drawing for a 1/4 Carat diamond ring, free hotel rooms, and dinner and movie packages. They are having an early bird ticket sales drawing for an ice shack, Hummingbird ice 35, and a St. Croix combo. The drawing is on Jan 14. So your tickets have to be purchased before the 14th. They are also handing out post contest coupon books for each hole purchased, each worth $15 for free drinks specials at 6 local bars. That’s all I needed to hear!!
