More of a comment on what seems to be their method and less than player comparison. The Wild seem to have little patience with their prospects in terms of development. They seem to think they are just one or maybe two players away from winning the Cup. So they plug Rossi in the bottom part of the line up because he has less chance of hurting them but also the less chance of succeeding for what 19 games before exiling him. These signings of all these older vets points to BG thinking if one of these guys get ressurected they are in on the Cup.

Just need to let go of the Cup dreams for a few years and suffer the growing pains of these youngsters. I think Addison would have been helpful on the PP against Dallas but they don’t trust him. They will be forced to use these prospects sooner or later but by waiting to develop them they increase the risk of losing 97 in a few years. If they wind up trading Addison and Rossi they will experience sellers regret in about three years. They aren’t trying to build a franchise around KK they want him to be the franchise. Even McDavid can’t be that and KK is no McDavid.

I wonder if the Hawks will take the BG/DE approach to developing prospects with Bedard? You have to earn it while you languish in the AHL while tearing it up and then watch your team sign a bunch of old vets just to further block your development. Then you finally get a cup of coffee with the big team before the trade rumors start.

It’s a proven method for sure.

Read somewhere last week how Evason’s record in the playoffs his entire coaching career is abysmal. But nobody in any league anywhere can scowl on the bench like Deano. Right?

From a emotionally unattached casual observer observation I think Foligno brought much of this on himself. Starting with the run at Marchment on Sunday. Ref no doubt seen Foligno making a run at Marchment from half a rink away and probably decided then a boarding call is coming. Hitting a player that hard in front of the bench can be dangerous. For both players. Players upper body has nothing to stop him until he lands on the bench. Skates generally fly up in the air potentially getting in someones face or neck area.

When Marchment smartly dodged the majority of the hit that kind of took the boarding or interference call out of it so all that was left was tripping. Point is Foligno was going to get something. His remarks post game however right they may be just drew more attention to himself. So when he runs into Faska last night the refs just decided that’s enough. See ya! Don’t matter if it was the right or wrong call once it’s made and stamped approved in Toronto it’s done. Unless you listened to the Power Trip this morning and you believe an investigation is needed to see who is betting big and paying the refs and the booth in Toronto off.

Kirill Fiala? Who could have seen that coming? Actually Fiala is out scoring KK in the playoffs despite Fiala has only played in two games. We are probably going to hear post playoffs he’s hurt but players play hurt all the time and still find a way to contribute especially the super stars. Besides they went on a tear when he was out of the line up. I think Dallas has just done a good job of smothering him.

But that still doesn’t let the rest of the team off the hook. So do we see Fluery game six?

Actually the box scores paint a good picture of the game if you didn’t watch it. Shots on goal, blocked shots, penalty minutes, time on ice, face off percentage, hits, pk time on ice, sh time on ice, line ups, healthy scratches, injuries it’s all there. Watch the five minute game recap and you know as much as anyone who watched the game and you got your beauty sleep!

I don’t think you can count on Fluery to steal a game for you anymore he’s just as likely to give one away. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out if BG made the call to run Fluery out there. Fluery is like BG’s old dog just can’t bring himself to put him down even though he knows it’s time.

The dems in Minnesota are on a drunken money grab. There will be all kinds of tax, fee and license increases and more money spent foolishly. Minnesota is trying to out California California and I think Timmy and company can do it.

I agree with Bucky no problem paying more if the money is directed to the right places. More enforcement is certainly needed. Lots of poaching and over fishing going on and most are doing it with impunity knowing the chance of getting caught is minimum and if you do the punishment is also very mild. If I started turning people in I know to be violators it would be a full time job and I probably wouldn’t live very long.

NHL has really fubar’ed their tv package. I just pulled the plug on my Bally Sports app after the last regular season game. Number one the constant buffering was just way to damn annoying and secondly the late starts for the Wild are annoying. Game recaps the next morning are free and I get my beauty sleep.

10M is a good deal for Freddy and probably as big of a payday he could hope for. If he holds steady and doesn’t decline it’s a good deal. If he declines and becomes a liability not so good because Evason won’t take him off the ice even if he gets a leg amputated below the knee.

I have the Bally App but pulling the plug after Thursday’s Wild game and won’t go back. The buffering is god awful and it’s not my internet because I can stream anything else with no problem. I’m not paying for a $100 month tv package to get Wild games any more. I cut ties with DirecTv streaming a few months ago with little to no regret.

See what the NHL does next year. I’d pay to get a entire NHL package that includes the Wild but it would have to be under $200 for the season.

This is where sheltering your prospects like Rossi rather than developing them bites you in the a$$. Now he’s going to be put in a position like Talbot was in game six last year. Now your going to find out what you got or what you don’t at the most inopportune time with a ton of added pressure on the player. The “you have to earn it” BG mantra really only applies if everything is running smoothly. Rossi should be wearing a Break Glass In Case Of Emergency shirt.

If Rossi fails to produce now it could set back his career indefinetly to no fault of his own.

Lining the small trash cans in their house. Picking up dog crap in the yard or when walking the dog etc. etc. It’s not like people were going home unloading their groceries and then throwing all these bags in the wind. When everything you buy in the store is in a plastic container or bottle charging extra or banning the plastic bags you take that stuff home in seems nonsensical.

So all this leads to use of more paper bags. Sure they degrade faster when one gets loose in the wild but it takes a lot more energy to make then versus a plastic bag. And we know we have to cut trees down to make paper. So between the increase in plastic bag sales and the increase in energy creating more paper bags you’ve done the opposite of what the intent was and that was saving the environment from total collapse and destruction cause by the plastic bag.

I went synthetic a long time ago. I need length in the summer time when we pull docks and drag logs out for cutting but in winter it’s just the couple feet the plow needs. I leave a 30 footer on all year.

The NHL’s mistake was putting games all over the network universe. I don’t remember how long those contracts for ESPN or TNT run but that’s what drove many viewers away. It was a pain finding a package that included all the networks to see all the games. Look at the hoops some of you jumped through with VPN’s and all that to get the games you wanted to see. The vast majority of fans are not going to go to those lengths so they just quit watching out of frustration. The NHL just does not have that large of a dedicated fan base to be chasing viewers away. They are not the NFL or MLB.

I dumped my DirecTv streaming or more accurately they dumped me and I haven’t really seen a game since. I got the Bally app for $20 a month but tonight’s game is on TNT so my $20 gets me a big nothing tonight. Yep it’s frustrating and I just got tired of throwing money around chasing all this. So when Bally’s broadcast season is over that app is gone and I’ll take the $20 and buy another case of beer and go fishing. The NHL needs to get back to another Center Ice type package where all the games are consolidated in one place for viewing. If I remember that package was like $150 a season but that was only out of market games. Eliminate the networks keep the broadcast rights yourselves package everything and sell it to the fans to view in one place. Then pay extra for a playoff package if your team is in it if not tune out if you want. They may just get a good portion of that 20 plus percent viewership they lost this year.

I give it a meh overall. I think BG’s goal here is to get past the first round which he very well may given the dumpster fire that is the Western Conference. Satisfy the owner and keep the faithful at the season ticket door another year. That would be mission accomplished. Hell KK alone might be able to drag him over that line with the tear he is on.

We have gone out there every year for the past eight years in a row. Always the weekend after New Years. We have gone out of Woodlands in permanent houses. Don’t even bother with that it’s a waste of money. Went out a couple years with Perch Patrol in portables and that was much better. The last four years has been in Sno Bears and there is no other way to do it imo. Always buckets of nice jumbos and Walleye mixed in. The wind can blow out there and will keep the portables off the lake but as we say Sno Bear don’t care!

I was supposed to leave today for my second trip this year but the wife broke her ankle slipping on the ice last week so that put the kibosh on that!

No words are adequate to describe McDavid anymore. 50 goals and 115 points with 21 games left. He will break 60 goals and probably wind up around 150 points. Is Bedard going to be as good or better than McDavid? Here’s a hypothetical question. If we knew what team was getting the first round pick in the Bedard sweepstakes would you trade KK to get that pick now?

I’m for BG just standing pat at this point and see where this team can go. About all that’s left for him to do is Boesser of JVR. I don’t see how they can make Boesser work. But I think BG feels he needs to do something given the winning streak.
