Pick the biggest point projecting into the lake (lower Left) it acts as a funnel or pinch just like hunting. Any walleye or baitfish moving from one bay to the next pass the point.
Start deep with tip ups rigged with small shiners or jiggin shads work shallow towards dark. After you find the eyes somewhere along the point use those details to fish other areas. good luck

Your onto something here…my favorite walleye hole is a sandbar with weedbeds. Not many fishers will go right on the sandbar but they are missing out. Right now there is 22-26″ of ice over 12-24″ of water. 2 feet or less with green weeds is the meal ticket for fat prespawn walleyes.

Its only going to get better as the game fish season ends. If you have a spot like this I urge everyone to try it, they are ferocious in shallow water. Careful with the hooksets when theres only a foot of line under the ice

Dont be shocked by the low numbers and low weights in this tourney. They decided to close off the 2 fishiest spots Peggy Slough and Bass lake and decided to only allow fishers to roam the barron waste land of Boom. 13.7Lbs won it last year with 32 fish versus 7.27lbs and 18 fish this year. There was 588 Fish registered over the 2 days.

Was on moon bay yesterday 3″ solid ice with snow/slush over that and a frozen layer over that. Drilled plenty of holes few willing biters. ice thickness seemed the same across the area i fished. A very wet day.

My take on the float deals with not having to locate the flasher directly at the hole. Usually snow and slush are common in areas I attend. I can locate the unit on fresh powder or hard pack near the hole not above or on/in a bucket and still be vertical.

Run n gun with no float means a long cable or bending over to check holes, versus quick waist high readings with a slight bounce. I will likely find a float to install on my lx5.

One other thing I did not like from an engineering standpoint was the holder for the puck. Its located directly under the flasher and the ducer is cone shaped. Hard to remove unless pulled by the cord or removed bare handed, and as stated prior can freeze there.

On a vexilar the transducer needed to be tuned to true vertical for best readings. A wider transducer and wider cone angle should be even more sensitive to hanging vertical. More stress and sharp bends on the cord at the ducer will affect sensitivity in my opinion.

I might have misread but do you have the tecumseh engine or the solo engine on your lazer mag. I have the tecumseh on mine and through communication with Strikemaster after a tune up I was informed switch to 42:1 back when they recommended the 24:1 mix.

Great cameras i wish they would have kept the pan feature in the 825c. I have the VS460 and its a breeze not having to manually rotate the cord. More fishing time, I bet the remote feature is a blast.

I use a handycam dvr on mine with several 2Gb sd cards, Also very small and portable, good footage but grainy at times. Formatting is an issue so choose wisely if you plan to edit videos.

I modified the rubber grommet and installed a 4Ft Video cord permanently and placed the other end in the cam case when not in use.
You can also clone video to another small tv for other fishers. Great for kids its just like a video game.

My vote is to keep it above the bottom of the hole or it will look like my FL-8 ducer. Something with teeth grabbed it on lake wissota last winter, several times actually. Has 7 or 8 teeth mark on the ducer and one tooth on the cable.
No more hanging it down 5 feet

    I 2nd that.

Ill thrice it and say that if it quits after a short while it usually means that the bowl isn’t filling fast enough. An orifice between the filter/tank and the bowl feed is gunked. If parts dirty everything else will be to

On old unmaintained outboards the float can lose its bouyency and refuse to fill. Rebuild kit with float and a good soak followed by a clean should solve ur problem.

Its a semi complicated job with alot of small pieces that tend to fly. Have the neighborhood wrench reman it for a case of beer.

    Good luck

The future of SI for ice fishing. Just waiting on humminbird to introduce a radar screen and the programming to make it work good.
    SI In 360
The down scan feature might work Im sure no ones tested it on the ice yet.

Step 1 switch bulb from left to right placing a known good bulb in will tell you whether the bulb or wiring is at fault. If everything lights up its the bulb. If not Its the wiring or connection
Step 2 Connection on blazer headlights are horrible for internal corrosion on the vehicle plug clean with electrical safe cleaner and a wire brush

If the problem still exists then resort to the test light these are cheap simple checks before unneeded spending.

Has any electrical modifications been done ie… a plow (unlikely) but need to know. Lights on a plow splice off the headlight.

Thats great news Jason thanks for the heads up on this one. The images look exceptional and now im curious to see if this down imaging will work on hardwater. I know the ducer has to be moving but i think the images maybe interpreted by hole hopping. Maybe even see rising fish on it, any idea what the refresh rate on the down imaging will be?

Thanks for the quick response guys. My only other concern would be how well will the SI scan through sharp current and associated debris. Im sure the current is nowhere near the flow of larger rivers, just seems to make quick shifts. Does this blur the images? Jason your image is extremely detailed I hope I have as much luck.

Say I was to float this section and record while making the adjustments for best visibility, How much memory would it consume to record 3 hours of floating for review later. Is this efficient? Can i mark points on a recorded scan after the fact or will I have to find it again to mark it?

A total of 348 walleyes weighing 265 pounds, 12 ounces were caught Thursday, including 48 five-fish limits.
If there was 15 overs that would be %4.3 of fish registered were over the slot. 20 overs would be %5.7

A total of 337 walleyes weighing 266 pounds, 10 ounces were caught Friday, including 47 five-fish limits. If there was 15 overs %4.5 were overs. 20 overs would be almost %6

I beleive I seen three overs at the final weigh in saturday
and about 35-40 unders, which would be %8.6 and %7.5 respectively.

Now the avg weight for thursday and friday combined
685 walleyes weighing 532 lbs and 6 Oz puts the average walleye at just under 12.5 ozs

This being said there was prolly a greater number of unders caught during the tournament that were released. Wherein almost all overs were kept. This would only lower the percent of overs, not raise. Realistically the percents are probably closer to %3-5. So if i wanna catch an over and luck is not on my side I may have to sift thru 20-33 unders.

This does not take into account any slot fish being there was no fish kept or weighed, and anglers werent polled on how many slot fish released. This woulda been a good way to get a guess at the year classes on wissota without missing information.

When doing brakes on your own, its important to clean the pad carrier and grease with high temp grease. They also make an aerosal can that you spray on the back of the pads to eliminate sticking and pulls. All bolts and wheel lugs should be torqued to prevent early wear on tires, pads and rotor.
Shops charge around $250 an axle and up, and this is a great way to save money. As for the rear rotors and internal parking brake they are fairly simple.

The H2O C and the Hunt C are almost identical i believe. On my Hunt C i Did exactly what Husky Jerk mentioned and it worked after that. The first unit i got never locked on and had to return it. second unit I initialized the gps and it works great. Cold starts still take forever.

If someone else does it you can to. Get both upper control arms and ball joints assuming their one piece. Rent a ball joint press for the lowers free from most parts stores just have to put a deposit up. If u dont have alot of tools the hardest part will be the axle nut and torque values. Unbolt tie rod, Remove Steering knuckle. support axle and brakes, remove upper control arm, press ball joints outta lower control arms (loosen Pinch Nut) and reinstall with greese zerks pointing in direction of choice.

Reinstall new upper crossmember install steering knuckle and Tie rod, dont forget cotter pin, balljoints come ungreased so grease them also repack the bearing. then take it for an alignment after you torque everything to their respective values which is the most important part.

I have the Ifinder HuntC, Works pretty good for hunting I take it out in the boat and ice fishing every time i go. Doesnt work the greatest for seeing where u are on the water or in the woods with the basic map. The price is higher then most also. If i could switch i would go for the higher priced Bushnell Onix 400 with satelite imaging. it really lets u know where u are without the brain pain 500 bux tho worth it if u hunt alot of land Onix 400 GPS

Maybe Incorporate electric winches one on each side. Requires battery power but if ur in a wheel shack your possibly driving some type of vehicle to and from. A cheaper route maybe 1 electric winch with pulley setups to operate both sides evenly. Anythings possible, could use the power adapter from a snow plow to run off your tow vehicle. Bad side electricity and cold dont mix

Is it the root structure of a tree? Wouldn’t happen to be a shoreline brushpile on the little lake?

This should be a great event with impressive fish. My partner and I are fully pumped on this tourney. It will be interesting to fish against the pros on our home lake. I hope they’ve done their homework
The 2008 Championship on Boom Lake in Rhinelander was an awesome experience. A cold snap followed by a sleet blizzard did not stop some big limits from showing up at the weigh in. a Two day total of 13.7lbs posted by the winners and 4 time team of the year Joe Pikulski and Myron Gilbert. These are the guys to beat and theyre on top for a reason.

If anybody is interested in this tourney I’d be glad to answer questions. I am familiar with the rules and how they operate the tourneys. This will be my fourth NAIFC event and they are a blast

On the 2009 models when a waypoint is saved are they all the same form of waypoint and numbered there after? Can u select different waypoints ie. crib, rock pile, wingdam then numbered there after? Can the names be editted to any extent on the current models?

Not sure if I missed it or it’s not clear? The cruise control does work while on a Track and on Auto Pilot mode or is that a seperate function. When recording a track is speed monitored and duplicated while following track or independently controlled to desired speed.
Sounds like a step in the right direction but to some 3 trails maybe fairly small.

I hope its release is early November 11/23 last year was fishable ice.

Kinda bad news not just a cheap fix its likely the converter box
Here is a link to location and repair process
    web page
Check the ground First by Splicing in a fresh ground on vehicle side of connector.
Sand n Clean metal spot on frame use self tap hex head screws with a ring terminal and same size wire guage.
If lights work problem solved, No Lights its the converter box roughly 50 bux

No need to register canoes in the state of wisconsin until you put a trolling motor on it. DNR requires propelled canoes and sailboats to be registered tho.

My Step Uncle is the owner of GH canoes, they are awesome canoes i currently have a yellow 12 footer affectionately dubbed the banana boat. I plan on getting a square back as well.
The banana has survived many a trips down the Chippewa and Red Cedar on low and high water, they are also extremely light come time to portage.
