    Haha! Agree…clear as mud.

The WI DNR has a separate page explaining the difference in limits and gives this example (will try to link):

For example, if you fish a lake in the ceded territory with a bag limit of 3 walleye, you may then go on to a lake with a reduced bag limit and catch and harvest two more walleye. Thus, you would remain within the total daily bag limit of 5 walleye. The possession limit remains 10 walleye.

    https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Fishing/questions/possessionlimit.html#:~:text=An%20angler%20may%20not%20possess,waters%20fished%20for%20that%20day.

The back of the reg book (page 96) reads:

“the new rule does not affect the total daily bag limit for walleye and sauger (5 in total per day from all waters fished that day), nor the possession limit (10 in total).”

So the way I read it…the only real change is that you can only keep 3 from a single lake per day. You could still keep 3 from lake “X” and 2 from lake “Z” for a total of 5 in a single day.

But maybe I’m the crazy one jester

Very interesting. So if I understand correctly..daily bag limit is 3. Total daily bag limit is 5 (meaning you can keep 5 walleyes in a day but not more than 3 could come from a single lake) Possession limit is 10.

Clock is ticking for MN to make a change.

We decided to try maple syrup for the first time this year. Fun project for the kids (and dad!). We tapped 6 trees, collected around 30 gallons of sap for the first batch and finished 3 quarts of golden maple syrup last night. Delicious! We did half our boiling on the turkey fryer and the other half over the solo stove.

I have been running 9ah flex volt batteries this winter with the Dewalt 999 drill and it has been awesome. Far surpassed my expectations. As a bonus, my 8 year old can carry the auger around when we are on the search for fish.

The flex volt batteries do seem to have a little extra oomph compared to a traditional 5ah…but that could be in my head.

Agree with the others, usually drag it around in a small sled (this can be problematic early ice with no snow as it spooks the fish). Otherwise, I lay the pole horizontally across the top of the bag and grab both the pole and bag in one hand.

Runnings has the Dewalt drill kit which comes with the latest hammer drill DCD999 (popular model to use with lite flite), an impact driver, three 5ah batteries, fast charger, and LED flashlight for $239. Pretty solid deal IMO.

This might be totally obvious but I will bring it up because I made this mistake when I first got livescope. The transducer needs to be angled up, almost 45degrees when used in forward view. This is covered in the LVS34 installation manual.

When I first got mine I assumed the transducer was supposed to be mounted level/horizontal. I could see baits under the boat with amazing detail and nothing past 20 feet or so.

I went through this a few months ago when I left the charger at the cabin. I think it depends which Norsk battery you have…
The orange-colored Norsk batteries are 14.8v and have similar chemistry to the Amped NMC batteries. I had no issue using the Norsk charger from an orange battery on my Amped 32AH NMC(although only used it one time). On the other hand, the green Norsk batteries are 12.6v and similar chemistry to Amped LifePo4 and I wouldn’t recommend using the charger based on the guidance above.

I think you are talking about two different things. There is the old app (FishSmart?) where you had to buy individual lakes and now there is a new app (One-Boat network app?) where you pay a yearly subscription of $25 and get access to all of the lakes (or so I thought). I am tempted to try the new app this winter as well.

I think in like his last 3 games he has swung once, otherwise 4 pitch walks. Maybe its not 9 & 10 years old but 3rd and 4th grade. Either way they cant pitch.

In our 3rd grade league the kids pitch but they don’t allow walks. If the kid throws 4 balls, then the coach comes out for 3 soft toss pitches. If the kid can’t hit the soft toss, he is out. No free passes.

Our team is undefeated similar to Bearcat and the other coaches suggested to stop keeping score. Unbelievable!

I also use the summit pole (24-60” version) with RAM mount. I agree with Joe, considering the price, it is great for versatility and being able to use both open water and ice fishing . That said, it is not perfect. In the boat it has a bit of vibration/wobble while trolling which makes the images less clear. Works well on spot lock though.

Do you still need the black box? If so, I’ll stick with the Ultra 106

Joe, have you been happy with this cover or find anything better? Seems like it offers good protection and relatively easy on/off? As always real world experience is helpful. The hard covers don’t seem like they would soften the blow from falling on the ice, etc…

I believe the limit is an annual limit. So if you are married you and your wife can do $20K/year. If inflation stays high, you can keep adding to your investment in future years. Tough to beat 9+% return with minimal risk…

I use the Michigan State extension site to help with the timing of crabgrass pre-emergent. Type in your zip code and when your area is shaded green, it’s time to put it down (and water in). Done this for the last 5 or so years and never have a problem with crabgrass anymore.

I use the front 4 holes, you cant tilt the screen if you use the back 4…keep the screws loose and push the cradle back a tiny bit and then tighten them down, the little bit helps. You also need to keep the screen angled the same as the case when zipping it up. I’ll try and upload a short video of me zipping my case shut. My old case was very tight to zip shut, you can see this new one isn’t…
I do have the LVS34 stored in the outside pocket as I dont want to scratch the elements cramming it inside the case until I get a cover for it, not sure if that effects the closing or not? I’ll test that when my cover arrives

Thanks, that video helps a ton! I moved mine to the front holes, and made sure to slide it back a tiny bit before tightening. I also turned my cradle 180degrees (not sure if this was necessary) and also slid the shuttle as far back as it would go inside the bag (there was some slop inside)…now it closes just like yours. Perfect! Fired it up in simulator mode too…man this thing is nice!!! Can’t wait to get it on the water. Thanks for all of your help Joe!!

Joe – which holes did you use to mount the 106sv cradle? Front 4 or back 4? My xl bag from garmin showed up today and it’s pretty tight with it mounted all the way forwards. Not sure if I got an older bag or if I have my screen mounted too far forwards.

    Thanks in advance!

I think Joe will recommend the 32 NMC? Do you already have the 19ah NMC?

Yes, I already have the 19ah NMC so trying to utilize it if I can

From what i’ve read, there’s alot more added screen space than just the 1” diagonal difference…. If the added expenses of upgrading arent an issue, why not go bigger/better? The processor increase with the Ultra is also very noticeable and worthwhile, the cradle is metal and locks much better, it has 2 network ports built-in and you can run a LVS12 directly from it if desired.

I decided to go with the ultra 106sv as well. The $999 deal at Cabelas is too good to pass up. When running Livescope exclusively, there doesn’t appear to be much benefit to the higher resolution of the 106sv (as compared to the UHD 93sv) today, but this could change in the future and I will be happy I went with the 106sv.

As for the battery, how difficult is it to swap batteries on these setups? I am still waiting for my Garmin bag to show up but am considering running the 19AH NMC battery from Amped Outdoors and having a second one on-hand for longer days when I might run out of power. This will help keep the weight down but not sure how much of a pain it is to swap batteries.

No idea what the difference could be, I used the -40 cable with an Amped Garmin barrel plug adapter for years…

Thanks, Joe! I’ll go with the -40 as well then. The description on the garmin site is exactly the same between the two so I couldn’t figure it out either.

Apologies if this has been asked before but I am looking at two power cables for my livescope build and can’t figure out which one is the right one:

010-12676-40 Garmin All in one power cable

    010-13140-11 Lithium-Ion 4-in-One Power Cable

Both of them are $55. Is one for a lithium battery and one not? Obviously I’d like to be able to plug my amped charger into this. Anyone know the difference?

    Thanks!

FWIW I ordered the LVS32 and black box GLS 10 combo from Cabelas for $1170. It did come with the upgraded single barrel cable that is more pliable in cold weather. Still on the fence if I am going to keep it or return and wait for better deals and/or the LVS34.

Can you keep this thread updated. I am in the same boat. I think I will keep the screen at that price and sit on the fence for a bit. I have 60 days to return it to Cabelas. How were you able to get it reduced from 1299$ to 1170$?

I might just wait to the fall to buy a refurb if there is 2 year warranty as well.

As an update, after watching some of the YouTube videos, I ended up returning the transducer and keeping the UHD 93sv screen. The videos of the LVS34 didn’t blow me away but figured if I’m building a new setup I might as well get the latest and greatest.

When I returned the transducer I mentioned that I was upgrading to the LVS34 and that I was bummed to lose out on my 10% promo code. To my surprise, the nice lady working the counter allowed me to apply the 10% to the new transducer. Definitely YMMV situation but wanted to share in case someone was in the same situation. Now if only I could figure out when the LVS34 will show up I will be in business!

Thanks. That’s exactly what I am debating after seeing the 106sv deal pop up today. I plan to use in the boat too but just as a portable unit (kept in the Garmin bag). I wasn’t sure if the higher resolution on the 106sv allowed you to see more. I do like to move around quite a bit on the ice so am thinking I will stick with the 93 for the weight savings.

I just switched to an Amped 32ah NMC battery because I also switched from a 93UHD to an Ultra106sv and thus needed more juice for the 10” screen. The 19ah NMC should be great for an Echomap 93. I probably could have gotten away with the 19ah with 75% brightness, but with the 32 I can run full screen brightness all day and not worry about running empty.

The 32NMC weighs just a little more than the 18ah lifePO4… The 30ah LifePO4 is way too heavy, I was fine spending the extra $70 to save 3 pounds…

The LifePo4 vs NMC charge cycle difference will NEVER be a factor for me…

Joe – did you prefer the 106 for the ice season? I thought I read that you may have switched back to the 93? Curious which way you’d go if you were buying a new setup today?

A week or so ago they had a 10% off promo code if you ordered online and picked up in the store.
