TUCR gets lots of love here, and they are great rods. But look at JT Custom Rods too. I love the walleye snare and panfish snare. If you want to see the bite, as a deadstick rod, it can’t be beat.

Just got their panfish handler, and landed a small pike the other day. As other’s said, its in how you play the fish, I’d be more worried about your smaller line snapping then the rod itself.

But JT rods are good too at a lower price then the TUCR. But any reputable custom rod these days are very well made, can’t go wrong any way. Great customer service too, they replaced my walleye snare with a broken tip with a new rod. I’d buy from them again, in fact I already did twice!

Yes…it’s gonna run into the 20k range. Expensive…but I would rather get it right to start. I was considering a firebrand house, but am now leaning to a Side-by-side as that would be a more versatile year round use than a wheelhouse. First world problems I know.

Rumor is in Nov they are announcing an updated model for the 1000-5 model. Which probably will increase the cost.

Used some this year. It looks great. But recommended to clear coat it to seal it in.

I like to avoid paying shipping whenever possible.

Any idea if these will be at the St Paul Ice Show or other shows?

use a dosing cup for kids medicines, or ask your pharmacy if they have one to give out with liquids.

There we go again with the damn tape…I’m all for function over form for the most part but certainly there has to be a more, dare I say it, elegant way to meld winch to stick, yes? ;-)

Here’s what I’m gonna be using this winter. The band is much stronger than what you’ll find anywhere. Easy on and Easy off if you want to switch reels quickly.

We’ll see if it lives up to its good looks.

Yes I just ordered one this fall too. Dusty’s turnaround time is fantastic and quality just as good as others.
I’d like a Thorne, but don’t want to wait til end of season like last year to get my rod.

Ice Team is all Clam products.
They really don’t tolerate any other products, which is why discussion there is rather slow. Most of the posters are by their pro staff.
It is frustrating to get censored. Especially with free speech that we are so used to. But just remember its their site and they can do what they want with it. If you don’t like, don’t go on it and come over to IDO! That’s the only way to make the point by reducing views and site visits.

I don’t see how the otter wild cottage is lighter then the pro cottage. Their website has both listed at 80 lbs. I wonder if it’s the bench seat offsetting the weight of full thermal?

I still am raving about the value of these reels!
    Yes its not aluminum.
But for the features it packs and the price, it compares to nothing on the market dollar for dollar. Not even the Black Betty 6061.
The Eagle Claw’s make me even more excited for my two 6061s on order thru Dean!!

I’ve tried plastics before but never got confident in them. Not til end of last winter season, using the Impulse mayflies produced big on crappie slabs!!
But alas it was such a quick end that I never got to use it more.
So looking forward to using it more now!

Just found your IDO shows. LOVE THEM!

Watch them on the iPhone at work all the time. I wish you could get the older shows on Youtube so its more iOS Apple friendly.

I know you’re a big fan of ice reels. If this reel keeps up to its promise, and I’m sure it will. Will it replace most of your spinning reels?
