Will be out around Hudson on the opener weekend so will likely not even get up on plane! Imagine it will be busy but that’s par for the course there on opening weekend!

14th is first week of league @Kirk and @Justin.

Garmin has moved to a LVS34 but from all accounts, there’s not that much gain in the 34 vs. 32. So you are getting a discount on a very good product.

Starting pitching has been lights out. Back to back 7 inning outings against the NYY. That was absolutely unheard of all of last year. 14-10 record, first place, and Correa and Buxton haven’t really hit their stride yet!!

Im quickly becoming a big Joey Gallo fan! Hope he keeps this up all year. His HR’s are like Thome’s back in the day, all no doubters right off the bat.

It would be nice to have the option of fishing the Croix in the spring, provided we get an early ice out without flooding causing landing closures and no-wake zones. Its a lot to ask for but once every few years it might work out!!

If the science says there’s a need for a reduced daily bag I’m all for it. But I don’t believe the science said that about P4.

Having matching regs would be great for those fishing Prescott, for everyone else this is just a PIA!

Thx TH. That’s exactly the pole I intend to get. Can I ask, is 72″ necessary or will the 60″ be all I need?

Double check with SD to be sure, but as a resident of Hudson, WI and a frequent fisherman of the St. Croix, this question comes up periodically. The rules here state you can use a license from either bordering state and can launch from either side of the river. So for example, as a resident of Hudson, with my WI license I can launch in Bayport, MN and legally keep fish and transport them back home to Hudson.

One thing to note, if you are a resident of one of the border states, you must use and abide by the license of the state you reside in. So again, in my example of St. Croix, I must possess a WI license. I also have a MN license for use on MN inland waters, but it won’t help me on the St. Croix since I reside in WI.

Should I upgrade to the 34? Is that worth the cost upgrade?

    Stick with what I have?

From all the reviews I’ve read, while the 34 is better, the 32 was pretty good in its own right.

    Hey guys,

New to the Garmin site as I just picked up these black Friday specials. But reading this thread, do you all recommend that I send these back for refunds and pickup the new units? Money is a big consideration for me and this will be my first forward facing sonar unit.

To summarize, I bought the Echomap 106SV with the GT54.
And the Panoptix LiveScope System GLS10 and LVS32 Transducer.
Black Friday I got all this for $1800.

Its all still in the box and could be returned, without breaking the bank, what’s my best option? Roll with this gear or return all or return 1 or other?

    TIA!

2022 I committed to fishing all 4 NWT events. Detroit River, Lake Francis Case, MS in Prairie Du Chien, and Green Bay. It was a thrill and had great partners in all events, some I did better than others in. At the end of the year, I was in 14th place for co-anglers and qualified for the championship on Lake Erie out of Dunkirk NY.

Day 1 I fished with Matt Reber from IA and we had a good day finishing around 7th I believe. Day 2 I got matched up with eventual champion John Hoyer and he put on a clinic. I caught some fish (proof is on the NWT video on YouTube) but John was on a completely different level. Ended day 2 in 3rd place. Qualified for day 3 and fished with Adam Anderson out of Amery. It was my second time in the boat with Adam as we were matched up in Mobridge in 2021. We slipped a couple spots but I learned so much and had a blast.

Fishing that championship was quite a thrill.
Final memory of 2022, after two years without a boat, I bought a Ranger 620 in September and had some really good outings on P4 this fall.
No NWT for me in 2023, the locations don’t match up with my schedule well though I’d like to try one on the pro side just for the experience. Maybe 2024 once I learn how to use my new boat and electronics.

Looking forward to 2023 and the possibilities!!

Unlike restaurant servers, I doubt these drivers have a minimum they have to declare to the IRS. Given that, I tip these drivers based on what I perceive to be going the extra mile. Helping with bags, giving directions, etc are the most common. Often these trips are pretty basic so in that case I might go $1 to $2 per bag. The value of the “extra mile” is up to you.

Haven’t posted in some time but it’s good to see the Viking optimism is still out there.
I don’t think the Vikes have hit their stride offensively, AND they are winning games they used to lose. 5-1 is a great start.

Good to hear from you again sir, I remember playing in the IDO fantasy football league with you a few years ago.

It’s been a few years, is the league still going?

Anyone else struggling on the Croix in October? Didn’t go out this past weekend as I decided to try P4, but previous two weekends made that decision easy. Notta.

Is this cold weather kicking them into gear or have I just not put the pattern together yet?

I’ve often wondered what it would be like to be like San Antonio, where they had franchise level players and one of the top 3 coaches for 20 years. What would my attitude be like toward the NBA if we had that? Because we’ve had the opposite, we had 1 franchise type player in 30 years, couldn’t keep him, and can’t draft to save our lives. The list of poor draft choices by this team in 30 years would take up an entire page.

Someday maybe we’ll turn this around, like Milwaukee has recently, and maybe just maybe I’ll pay attention. But my attitude toward the NBA is defined by this urine poor product we’ve had in town!

I tried without line counters to begin with. Completely doable, but the instant you turn around to set out line #2, then turn back around, you’ve lost track of how many colors just went out on line 1. So it becomes 1 rod at a time. Get the line counters, then you can just check the counters!!

The number of people on the water this year is insane. Using the Croix as an example, the number of people fishing on a Tu is comparable to a Saturday in past years.

I’m sure many of these ‘new’ fisherman are buying up supplies faster than stores are used to stocking them.

What is the water clarity in the lake? If it is a clear type of lake you may need to fish way away from the boat. Trolling use boards for instance or double the amount of line out you normally use. Are you running a gas engine or using trolling motor? Casting well away from the boat with the boat parked as far off the structure as possible. Just some ideas.

One piece of information I forgot to add. The nets can only be used on the MN side of the river, they cannot be used on the WI side.

Ok, I got the scoop from Mr. Sisler.

WI residents can apply for the cast net license after taking the same AIS class and, the kicker, you must have a MN fishing license.

A better answer than I might have been expecting. I bought the MN license this year for P2 and Mille Lacs so I’m good.

Now to get me a net!! smash toast

Will be nice for a change to wake up on New Years Day and watch some GOPHER football!

Outback Bowl vs. Auburn. Jan. 1 from Tampa.
