I did quite a bit of research and ended up going with an Antigravity XP-10 and really have had no problems in 2 years and use it quite a bit. It has an adapter for just about anything you want to plug into it. I use it at work when traveling to prolong my laptop battery and cell phone. It’s not the smallest unit out there now days but I found a smoking hot deal for it ($99) and it’s battery reserve matched my needs. They do make smaller ones and from all the reviews I looked at there were very few complaints for this brand. It comes in a nice small carrying case too.

The antigravity xp10 is a great unit. I will vouch for this unit as I have one.nice thing about the xp10 is you can charge multiple things at once on it. I also have the zetec brand one. Both will jump a car. I use mine at work to jump cars often. The zetec is smaller and can be found on amazon.com. I keep one in each vehicle for emergencies and it will hold a charge for 6mo. Both good units

My understanding was that the bull whip is designed for walleyes. It is a medium precision with a noodle tip. I have a 30″ noodle and a 30″precision. My next is going to be the bull whip. I primarily fish walleyes and and the precision almost feels too light.it is incredibly sensitive but has just enough backbone to hookset a walleye. noodle is awesome for crappie and works for walleye but is also too light. The bull whip is just a beefed up noodle for sight bite walleye. I primarily fish 1/8 spoons and #4 ripping raps. I’ve landed multiple 20-25″walleyes on both rods and they handled the load. But have also lost a few due not being able to bury the hook into the bone in the roof of the mouth on some of the bigger fish. If you want to see the bite with a softer high lighted tip but have backbone to Hookset then bull whip is your choice. If you want to finesse spoons in great detail then precision is your best bet. You will be happy with tucr either way.seriously awesome rods.

I use a 1 man house for those type of trips. As I get older I’ve figured out its too much work to haul all that heavy gear even with a buddy. It’s easier to each pull a 1 man house each then 2 guys pulling 1 big house full 2 guys gear. Also it’s easier to cover water and spread out to figure out what works then move onto the bite when you get dialed in.
The other option would be what will said and get a hub and small sled to pull your gear in. That also works well and I’ve done this on several hike in trips to hard to get to locations with success.

I have a clam Jason Mitchell one man and otter cabin thermal both are easy to to setup and put away. Material has never given me a problem on either. They both stay soft. Ive been out in -20 all day without problem.

Ido is by far my favorite. That being said, I would rate Linder second. I’ve tried watching across the ice belt. Not impressed..it reminds me of a cheap generic old information knockoff of what ido does. Big fish 365 is pretty cool(I think it is episode 5 or 6 is insane guy catches 4 50″muskies in under 5 minutes) Keyes outdoors is ok. in fisherman will do some neat stuff once in a while. I can’t watch water and woods anymore. Each episode is like fishing with a bunch of drunk idiots and you are sober haha

If you get a 500 you will love it until you ride with someone that has an 800. It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Also go with efi. No head aches. No changing jets and hard starting etc. I would ride a few before deciding on what will fill the need. Example. A 400 will usually only top out around 45-50. An 850 will top out around 68mph. I note this not because of top speed but crusing speed. You dont wanna be red lining your machine everywhere you go. going through deep snow or mud the smaller cc engines will not get the wheels turning especially with agressive tires. They will spin some but if your pulling a loaded down fish house with a buddy on back you are gonna get stuck. Where a bigger cc engine will dig and pull right through almost anything. An example is we go to lake of the woods in march almost every year. By that time it’s usually a lot of slush and glare ice. So we use a 850 xp and pull a 2 place sled trailer with the houses and gear on the trailer. We had a smaller wheeler with.i think it was a older 350 wolverine. It got the job done but we were cruising along effortlessly and got out to where we were fishing about 20min before they did. They were getting slowed and stuck on every slush pocket they hit where we hardly noticed them. They were wiped out and cold when they showed up. We were warm dry and catching fish. This doesn’t mean you have to go and get the biggest baddest machine on the planet but having more than you need has its perks.

I learned a trick for those nasty little buggers from some folks who live up that way a few years ago. They used this stuff called skin so soft. I think Mary Kay sells it. Worked like a charm. Put in a spray bottle and spray down the dog. Biting flies hate the stuff

And that’s why I use 20lb power pro. Go ahead let my line get sucked in to your prop jerk off. I’ll let the whole spool go. Then when your motor stalls I paddle you out to big water and leave you there in the the middle of your lake..jerk

I believe it is to match the hatch also. Almost every creature I can think of that lives under water other than a turtle has a light belly and dark back. Water is dark to look at and the sky is bright. Over time evolution had tuned it that way. Now the fancy paint on the side of lures is to attract fisherman. Lol. I hear it works

Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor. If they get dirty the symptoms will mimic a slipping transmission and mess with the shift points. It will lack power. Espically on hard acceleration or under a load. If you opt to replace DO NOT USE a aftermarket one! 99% they are junk out of the box. Get one from gm or ac Delco.

I finally got to try the terrova today and it worked flawless. And it was windy. The 55 is plenty of power. It plowed right through the wind and waves without breaking a sweat. Spot lock is sweet but I see what you mean mnjeddman as that was the 1st thing I noticed when using it was it turned the boat all the way around before it held which caught me off guard some the 1st time. Bumping the turn button and re locking took care of that after messing with it some. It is easy to deploy and I ran it for the full 3 hours I was out and it didn’t put a dent in the charge on the battery. The ease of boat control and convenience is everything I had hoped for and some. I have zero complaints. Definatly worth the $$. Thanks for the advise as I will now enjoy my time on the water alot more.

It is a old 14ft Lund plain old bench seat fishing boat that I finished off. I removed the center bench and flat bottomed it with marine plywood and carpeted it. Installed a casting deck and built compartments where the existing benches are. Also made storage under the deck and built a battery box under where the trolling motor is going to be .I ended up getting the 12v terrova 55 us2 with I pilot. 80 is the smallest they offer 24v and I don’t need that much power in a 14ft boat. I will run 1 29 battery for the motor and a cranking bat in the back.

I was looking at the motorguide too but haven’t heard much about them. Good to know it seems they jumped lightyears in tech overnight partnering up with Lowrance. Thanks for the input!

What I’ve found is when the water is 40 degrees its time to pay attention. They usually start schooling up in the 10-12fow before moving shallower as the water warms. I tend to stick to south to south east shorelines as the water temps tend to warm the fastest there.

I have two 30″ one is precision rod and one is noodle. Both have the split grip handles. I prefer the split handles over the solid as I like the split grip feel. I fish out of a 1200 otter cabin and 30″ is perfect length for fishing in a portable. I will say this though if you use the otter rod holders they don’t sit in them very well due to the split grip.

False advertisement. Setting a bar to high to meet. Cheating. If you have to save up your fish to show off, you are nobody in my book. It is an elite thing to have a stringer of 10lb walleyes and most people can’t come close to doing that unless you go to erie and that is why it commands respect when it is actually done. If you have to short cut it you haven’t achieved anything and have impressed no one.

I wished he woulda put the big and little side by side and not stiff armed the big one in relation to the little crappie.

I’ve had a av micro for 4 years now and I love it. when they first came out they had issues with the camera but they stepped up and mailed me one 4 free even though I was out of warranty over a year and I even offered to pay for it! in my opinion it’s a “have to own” product for scouting though.the picture quality is clear and wide, the battery life is great, and it is small and light. It does get hard to see on sunny days though but I tuck it in to my hoodie and it works fine I don’t know too much about the camera panner yet but plan on getting one once the bugs get worked out of it .

I just think to myself if I kept all the fish I get a lot of fisheries would be in trouble. I think a lot of people on here can say that. A lot of people say that a 10lb walleye doesn’t taste as good . That funny taste is guilt. I say that because we all care about the fisheries we have and know what happens when they are over harvested without a care. I read somewhere that it takes the average walleye 10 years to grow 28″ look at url as an example first it was over harvested for walleyes. Then the crappies. Nobody thought they could ever run out..schools that could be seen by airplane over a mile long. Word got out. Didn’t take long. Erie is a proven fish factory and all but don’t think for a second that it is bottomless and can’t be over harvested. It is very impressive to have a limit of 10lb eyes anywhere else in the world, but not from there. As the video showed any dumba** can go out and get them and have a “photoshoot” or whatever. Sorry for the rant but I run into this poor mentality all too often and it at times makes my blood boil. I’m in awe at the amazing fish but to see the lack of respect and need to fill there limits cause getting 1 10lb fish isn’t enough we have to get our full limits of 10lb attitude blows my mind. But that is what I’ve been taught and maybe I am the one with the wrong attitude. I’ve heard some “new”ideas being used that do make some sense in regards to fish life span and size etc basically it boils down to keeping the biggest “oldest fish” and returning the young adults which seems to be what they have been doing on erie.

The simple answer is bugs. That’s why transition lines are productive. If you go any deeper the bug burrows collapse( sediment too soft) go shallower and it’s too hard to burrow in(gravel or rock)

The devil is in the details when it comes to rods. Open water or ice. And you do get what you pay for. You need to ask your self what you expect to get from a rod. If your casting top water action lures are you gonna get that exact action out of the lure that you want with a less responsive tip? Pitching jigs can you feel every rock or where the bottom changes from sand to mud? Can you tell when you lost your minnow or is your minnow is swimming or dead by feeling or weight. That is what you are paying for with a with a high end rod. Ice rods are the same. Are having those details Available to you worth the $$ to me yes. And after owning Thorne Bros and tucr both are great rods. I am now switching my gear from Thorne Bros to tucr. I have 2 32″ precision split grip. One has noodle tip. My reason for this is personal preference. I like the feel of tucr more. I fish with mostly 1/8 Oz spoons. As far as open water goes I use g.loomis walleye series 7ft med light ex fast action. I primary pitch jigs and plastics. To put it simple the rod is an extension of my self. I can tell if something isn’t swimming right I can tell bottom types by feel. And I’m not gonna miss a hit Or waste time fishing a lure that is tangled or has no bait. Try going to the store and holding the rod in your hand while a sale person holds the tip of the rod to their throat or Adams apple and have then talk. You will feel it. That detail elevate your game.
