I believe that schools shootings unfortunately have been around for years, you just hear about it more because of the media.. When I was in grade school (7th grade), there was an expelled 14 year old kid that brought a 12 Gage shotgun into the school, walked into the principal’s office and shot the principal twice in the back, I was in a classroom right across the hall from the principal’s office, he then was going after the gym coach but could not find him. He then started to target other faculty in the school, my mother was the school nurse and had to lock her doors.. The kid also tried to enter her office. He did not appear to go after any kids though. Shortly after that the police were there and he gave himself up… He managed to only kill the principal.. This was in 1969.
December 20, 2017 at 6:41 am #1736958Agreed on the warm temps Dave… I live about an hour east of you and the warm temps pretty much ruined my chance for ice fishing around the area next week. I took the whole week off from work to do this… It looks like I will have to make plans to go farther north if I want to do any ice fishing next week… I also have a bunch of new toys that I can’t wait to get out on the ice but will unfortunately need to wait a little while longer.
Happy Holidays !
Stay Safe !!!

April 4, 2017 at 6:48 am #1686311I own a Commander and it is a good quality machine… I have had no experience with the Terex but I am sure both have their issues. My experience with the Commander is one of no trouble or issues.
Good Luck with your decision
March 15, 2017 at 6:51 am #1681345Thanks HJ, wow that sounds like a great trip.
We are planning to go back next year because of the success and fun…. Granted, it is winter yet in the mountains and snow could be a factor but we kept an eye on the forecast. We had the best success for large cutthroat at Meadow Creek Reservoir. Interesting about Meadow Creek was that it is mostly a private lake that you cannot fish on but the far west side of the lake, west of a fence line that points across the lake is open to the public. Fishing in about 10 feet of water with Garlic scented power bait, the cutthroat ate that stuff up. The biggest cutthroat was 26″
March 14, 2017 at 9:18 am #1681048Great tip HJ-not in the cards for this year though. Do you guys use sleds? Is snow an issue?
Snow was not issue when I was there, We walked about 30 feet on Meadow Creek and drove out on the ice at Lake John
March 13, 2017 at 11:43 am #1680811I just got back from fishing in North Central Colorado. Walden, CO area to be exact. I went with three other guys and we caught big Cutthroat Trout, a few Lake Trout and at least 2 Rainbow Trout. Several Cutthroat over 20″ Very good trip!
I fished at Lake John and Meadow Creek Reservoir. The ice was over 2 feet thick.
The only thing I forgot to take was sun screen because you can get burned really bad when you are closer to the sun. We were approximately 8100 feet up.
February 24, 2017 at 7:50 am #1676466Cgriff, I could not agree more that TUCR puts out a fantastic product. I have the precision noodle, bullwhip, precision and power precision all in 32″ split grip. I just ordered the commander in a 38″. These are some of the best ice rods around. I would also like to thank TUCR
February 21, 2017 at 8:49 am #1675692Welcome to IDO…. I believe most of them are on a beach in Florida sunbathing for the winter….
I know, I could not resist being a Smart A** It just seemed like you opened that door for a fun comment
January 30, 2017 at 10:29 am #1669782I bought the Marcum 385C (now the 485C). I really like the clarity it has. Had a problem in that water got inside the camera head while under warranty. Marcum was exceptionally fast and helpful to get it fixed so I could use it the remainder of the ice fishing season. I am very pleased with Marcum’s cameras and would buy again if I wanted to upgrade.
January 9, 2017 at 1:53 pm #1663833I am on my second year with the Lazer Pro…. I have no trouble starting it and what a nice auger! A few hundred holes already and I recommend this auger to anyone.
December 14, 2016 at 10:44 am #1657100I have the Lazer Pro 3 HP… Very good auger. You will not be disappointed. The little bit of extra HP may not mean much from the 2.5 HP but I would not trade at this point
December 9, 2016 at 8:29 am #1655750Thanks for the excellent product and a great customer service !!!!
December 6, 2016 at 12:33 pm #1654990Nice ! I was trying to decide what weekend I was going to stop there. Dave – I believe you just made up my mind… See you this weekend !
October 31, 2016 at 7:38 am #16479864 years ago I purchased the Marcum 385C. The underwater picture quality was unbelievable… Marcum did have problems with water getting into the camera head causing the dreaded blue screen. Marcum’s customer service was amazing in that they not only fixed it quickly but also extended the warranty another year. I use the camera mainly to look for structure but sometimes it is fun when bluegills are not biting hard, you can see them take the bait in their mouth and then spit it out. The camera helps in setting the hook at the right time. In clear water, the camera has excellent clarity and color.
October 17, 2016 at 8:15 am #1645292DUH: What is the Tuned Up Custom Rod LTP?
Only guessing, but that would be “Lake Trout Precision”?
October 12, 2016 at 7:32 am #1644525I have the Lazer Pro, purchased this last ice season…. nice auger. No problems starting either.
September 13, 2016 at 11:39 am #1639305Agreed Bob…. I have ice cleats for mine, otherwise they are very slippery. The black boots are very warm and waterproof. For the money, they are the best boots on the ice in my opinion
September 13, 2016 at 10:15 am #1639281If you are talking about the extreme cold weather boots from the military, I would check military surplus stores, they usually have these. I have the black boots which I picked up for $15. They are not made to walk in as your feet will sweat. I use these only for ice fishing because I do not walk far and in many cases am standing or sitting….
August 10, 2016 at 6:36 am #1633279Belletaine – I want to thank you for providing the recipe…. Last week I had two turkey fryers filled with your recipe….. Big success ! Everyone was always used to the traditional hamburgers, hotdogs or brats for our annual party. I suggested your recipe and all agreed to give it a try… To say the least, they all wanted to have this again in the near future…
Thanks for the idea and the recipe !!!
Jon
August 1, 2016 at 12:16 pm #1631729I love the show and I make sure that my DVR captures it if I do not have time to see it when the network shows it. with that said, when ice fishing, I like the fact that you show the type of lure/jig you use, the color and the size, I learn from that. I think it would be great to add to that by showing the rod, the reel and line along with their respective sizes, type, etc…. By putting all of that together can be a good training/tip.
In my opinion, this is one of the better outdoors shows on the network today. I also appreciate the fact that you are asking your viewers for what they would like to see but don’t change it too much as it is already a great show.
May 9, 2016 at 1:34 pm #1618272I just recently acquired this from my father-in-law who passed, not sure why he held onto it for so long but am really wrestling on whether to crack it open to celebrate his birthday some year. The seal states 1971 on the cap. I am sure it is real smooth…

May 4, 2016 at 8:53 am #1617266You are right, it is all meant in fun, most of the time I have also used the term f.i.s.h. and have heard many others use that term as well. But all in fun as I have a lot of friends from south of the border….
