Well I Made it back without a problem. I do think the hubs were warmer when I arrived home than on the road earlier so I will replace the bearings before going any distance. Thanks for all the information. I bought the tools needed to deal with the brake rotors so should be set to do the job.

X2 on other replies. Big problem is competition from Walmart, Internet, Bass Pro, Farm stores etc. They can buy lower, sell lower, advertise more and generate traffic with wide range of products compared to the little guy. To make it you have to have a good location and some niche to bring customers to your door. Bait and tackle sales can have ups and downs due to weather and seasons. Consider products like kayak and canoe sales and rentals or archery pro shop to increase traffic and per sale revenue.

Good Luck and don’t give up your day job yet.August 27, 2021 at 10:50 am #2057072I have a 2018 1875 Impact and would recommend the 36V for sure. I have a 24v 80lb on mine but have a 9.9 kicker. If I didn’t have the kicker I would definitely have the 36v 112lb thrust. The dash is really short on space. I used 4, 4″stainless “L” brackets to mount my helix 10 on the dash. Use the brackets back to back for rigidity. This keeps the unit low and doesn’t block the windshield like other mounts. Very low cost as well. You won’t have side to side adjustment but if positioned right to begin with it is fine. Tilt up and down is still provided by the helix mount.
August 27, 2021 at 10:19 am #2057056Will be renting a house on a small lake east of Tampa for a month. Appreciate all the input while I decide what to do. I’ve had doubts about the durability and performance of an inflateable and your comments reinforce those concerns. Storage at home is also a consideration but I think a rigid could be hoisted near the ceiling in my garage. My Ram has a huge sunroof so I need to find out what impact that has on using a roof rack and load rating. I’m going to see if any dealers near my destination would rent a kayak with all or part of rental fees applied to purchase.
July 28, 2021 at 10:53 am #2050829What is the current rating for your GFI? If 15 amp it is probably too close to your current draw. Your wire size and lenght of run also enter into it. Check wire size tables for run length to make sure it is heavy enough. If wire size is 14 you can’t go over a 15 amp GFI so wire and GFI may be too light. Both breakers and GFI recepticles can degrade over time especially if used at maximun rating and are reset a few times.
July 9, 2021 at 12:40 pm #2047045Don’t do what I did. Took my young Lab along for a boat ride and first exsposure to water. Launched the boat. tied it to the float and told her to stay on front deck of boat while I parked the truck. She stayed as ordered until she saw me coming down the ramp. At that point she jumped out of the front of the boat to join me. She thought the water was a solid surface and was frightened when she went underwater instead of landing on the ground. Because of that it took a lot more work to get her comfortable in the water and doing water retrieves.
July 8, 2021 at 11:37 am #2046763My mother who was 92 received a citation in the mail from a city in central Ia for a speeding violation taken by camera. She had sold her car over a year prior, had never been to that area and the car in the photo was white, whereas her former car was navy blue. The camera apparently only got a partial license number close to what moms had been so they tried to charge her. You’d have thought with license and registration canceled and plates turned in that couldn’t have happened but it did. Guy just laughed and said he’d take care of it when I explained it was impossible it was her.
July 7, 2021 at 1:04 pm #2046506I believe the biggest issue finding active walleye in mid summer is the abundance of forage as it relates to frequency and duration of feeding events. Biomass is at its highest midsummer into early fall. Most fisheries in the Midwest are full of bugs, young of year fish and crustaceans etc. like no other time of year. Walleye only have to feed a couple times a day for a short time to get their fill. If you aren’t on top of them for the 20 minutes they are aggressive then it can be tough. You either have to time the bite, or use a presentation to get reaction strikes. On the river where I fish river and weather conditions are making it hard to find a stable feeding pattern. Major feeding also will occur with clear water and clear moonlit nights.
Been watching some bass fishing on TV and have heard a couple competitors say that the way they were fishing seemed to turn the school on. Am wondering what a walleye fisherman could do to activate a group of fish.June 24, 2021 at 2:08 pm #2044519I had three of those engines 1995 and newer. Never had any trouble with the oil injection. Read alot about them on both sides but most creditable in my estimation were to leave it alone.
June 3, 2021 at 6:56 am #2040498Back in the late 60s I paid over $300.00 for a Lowrance “green box” flasher. Comments back then were similar to what I’m seeing here today about the LiveScope. That money then was harder for me to come up with than what I spent on the LiveScope this spring. For me the LiveScope is a toy but also a tool. As mentioned above I’ve learned the boat scares fish away more than I ever realized and they can be in reach but not feeding. I fish the river and think it mAy be harder to use than in cleaner water without strong current. It can be work to get settings just right and the distance I can see fish is less than some experience. So far I have only caught a couple fish attributed to LiveScope but I’ll keep playing with it.
May 10, 2021 at 9:25 am #2035811Tire pressure is important related to load capacity, speed capability, impact resistance, tire wear and fuel economy. Unfortunately you can’t optimize some of the above without impacting others negatively. Higher inflation is better for high speed because sidewalls flex less and the tire runs cooler heat being the major cause of failure in tires. Higher inflation reduces impact resistance because of less flex and so on. Higher inflation increases fuel economy due to less rolling resistance but will possibly reduce tread life as can low inflation. The key is to have tires sized with enough load capacity that they can be run a little below max inflation to still have reasonable impact resistance for potholes, broken concrete, stones, etc. I’m not a fan of extra ply tires like 10 ply if can be avoided because of heat buildup at higher speeds.
April 10, 2021 at 3:42 pm #2028916What is the date of that update. I did one from November recently.
March 31, 2021 at 11:23 am #2026333Was this a fire hazard? Yes the potential was there. Huntindave is right on. There should be a breaker on the trolling motor and fuses on all the other circuits. Looks like you got a wam bam job by an unskilled worker not a skilled rigger. That and the fact that I’m retired are the reasons I rigged my own. Glad you found what you did before any serious damage was done. I assume you will double check everything the dealer touched. Good luck and smooth sailing from here on.
March 27, 2021 at 10:47 am #2025172Will look for your report. I switched to Fireline Ultra 8 and so far have not had the line wrap problems I had with Suffix 832. If the Ultra 8 doesn’t change drastically as it breaks in it should be my go to line.
March 27, 2021 at 10:29 am #2025164Nice lead in but don’t leave us hanging. Will you share what lure you discovered? Promise to give you credit for all fish caught on your new discovery.
March 24, 2021 at 10:49 am #2024405The short Mucks. My three season “back door boots”. Love em, easy on/off, comfortable, decent grip, boat friendly and warm enough paired with the right socks for the temperature. If too cold go to heavy insulated La Crosse boots.
March 24, 2021 at 10:23 am #2024399Never put off doing something you enjoy waiting for the right moment. Not having a boat for a year or more is a year you will never get back. You don’t know what a boat cost you until you sell it. Buy a good popular product, take good care of it, use the hell out of it and you’ll come out fine. In my case, I did a lot of hunting and fishing when my two boys were infants and pre school but was home every night giving them my attention. Once they got into school is when a lot of my free time was spent with them supporting their activities like sports, scouts, etc.
March 13, 2021 at 5:05 pm #2021989Two or Three years ago I was checked by the Illinois DNR while fishing the Miss S.of Dubuque. She checked fish, licenses, and everything else you could think of. I was running my 9.9 kicker at the time. She gave me a warning ticket for not using the kill lanyard for my kicker and not having the negative terminal covered on my start battery. Positive was covered. Ever try to get bait, land fish, change tackle, or anything else in the boat while connected to the kill switch of your kicker? Danger to me is having the current or wind blowing me into rocks a buoy or other threat when I inadvertently pull the kill switch. Apparently been the law in Illinois for a while.
March 12, 2021 at 9:05 am #2021680Ditto to what Randy said. The laws only restrict and add tax and fees for honest, law abiding citizens. The lawless laugh as the laws pile up. I read the paper every day and see criminals with guns get off with light sentences or probation. Mismanaged states and cities can’t afford to put criminals in prison. Every so called gun crime is really a drug crime, gang crime, mental health problem or other criminal issue that government won’t address for what it is so they blame guns. Until they 1. Address the root causes of violence and 2. Enforce the laws on the books and keep felons incarcerated, they can pass law after law and nothing will change.
March 8, 2021 at 9:46 am #2020489Surprised catfish were listed under less common species. They are one of the top fished for and eaten in the US. Most grocery stores sell them and many resturants have on menue. I catch many incidentally while fishing for walleye.Key to good catfish is to get rid of any fat from fillet and cooked properly at 175F. Will take longer than some other fish due to high moisture content of meat.Good for use with spicy cajun, chinese dishes etc.milder flavored fish get lost in. I have smoked carp, buffalo, bullheads and many game fish. Buffalo is my favorite to smoke if I can get a clean lite colored female. Ate a few LM bass years ago and did not like them. May try a SM some day. Will keep white bass anytime I catch them. Meat has a more course texture than walleye but is good if you remove all red meat. Many people eat drum (sheepshead) mainly because they are everywhere and easy to catch.Probably OK like most fish if cleaned properly and cooked right.
March 4, 2021 at 1:31 pm #2019858Not picking on anyone here Just saying, my rule of the road is to treat others as if they are my mother or father and how would what I do impact them. I will tell you I just got done with cataract surgery for both eyes and night drivin is 100 per cent better now. Prior to that many trucks on low beams would effectively blind me on the road. There are a lot of older people on the road in passenger cars that have some stage of cataracts. Drs don’t like to operate if you can get by but the condition can deteriate fast after a point which is what happened to me.
March 4, 2021 at 10:35 am #2019809I agree with Kurt. Depends on your age, back and shoulders and style of fishing. If you are young and strong power tilt is not a big deal especialy if you have long trolling runs. If you have any back or shoulder issues and run and gun a lot, don’t even think about it. If you look at the cost over the time you expect to use the motor it may only cost + or – $40.00 a year for a great feature you won’t regret.
March 3, 2021 at 11:35 am #2019477The VVM comes with a plug that just T’s into the computer diagnosis port on your engine then is blue tooth to your phone or tablet. Just plug it in wire tie it for support and you’re ready to go.
