I’ll second the shallow bite. I just got back from there on Sunday and had one of the best 3 day stretches I can remember on Leech. Nearly every walleye caught came from 6′ or less. Not a ton of keepers but hammered the slot fish up to 26″, which was the largest we brought to the boat. Perch bite was going pretty stong also. Jig & minnow and trolling cranks at night worked best for us.

Cool, thanks for the info. Dont think I ever caught a pike that small before and wasnt sure if there were even muskie up there. Threw it back pretty quick, didnt take much time to look at it.

Could very well be a baby pike too, I’m not really sure. Heres the pic.

I do have one, will have to get it off my cell phone. He was just a baby, maybe 14″. If you still want to see one that small I will try to post it and see if someone can tell me if it was a tiger or not.

I was up there from last thursday through yesterday fishing out of Johnny P’s houses. It was pretty hit and miss the whole time, until saturday night when things started heating up a little after that front moved through. Got a hodge podge of fish, no limits on the walleyes but did get a handful out of our house, biggest was just over 21″. Also a perch, a 14″ crappie, and a small muskie of all things.

need to make sure the appraiser isnt a complete bonehead also. I went through this 3 years ago with wells fargo who sent out an appraiser who actually sat there an argued with me for 10 mins about the purchase price I paid for my home. She was convinced I paid $40k less than I paid (she was claiming I paid the amount the people before me bought it for). I showed her my mortgage paperwork and she still said I was wrong (while looking right at the papers) so I promtly gave her the boot out of my house and took my business elsewhere.

In the meantime she went ahead and wrote up an appraisal and valued my home $70k less than the lender I ended up using. Wells fargo eventually came back and admitted they made a mistake but I had already closed a loan with someone else by then.

Good to hear these nice reports from Leech. Heading up in two weeks to test the waters and am pretty excited. Will be my first time back there in years.

for what its worth, i have an old restored GMC subruban that has had the same tank of gas for almost 5 years now, stored in an unheated garage. i dont drive it much obviously, but have never put an additive in and have never had a problem starting it right up and driving around a few miles. Carb is clean as the day i put it in. Dont know if there is much difference between the effects on boat motors compared to autos.

Brings back some fond memories. Played rugby in college and had a bunch of new zealanders living in our house. Thankfully they introduced us to the wonderful game of spoons. At parties we gather huge groups of people around to watch the fun. We could take it as far as knocking someone in the head with metal spoons, stakes, even a 2×4 one time, not full force of course. Makes me laugh out loud everytime i think about it the people we suckered into it.

colklink83 hit the nail on the head with those directions. probably the easiest way to get there. Going from the north to the south just to take the train could waste valuable beer time. Plenty of decent bars along the route once in downtown.

If coming from Blaine you could also just take Central/hwy65 all the way into downtown if you dont mind some stop lights. It goes straight south, curves a little into downtown, bridge over the river (I think its open) to Washington or a few blocks more to 4th St. look left and you should see the dome or head to the right up towards 1rst Ave and you’re in the warehouse dist.

If you’re hiring a car moving company take plenty of pics before the car is picked up. I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!

I had a very reputable national car moving company move a 1970 GMC Suburban for me from Houston TX to the Twin cities about 6 years ago. When the ‘burban arrived I was SHOCKED at the amount of damage that was done to it!! The front tie rod was bent in the middle where some idiot tied the truck down with it (you could see the fresh chain marks). The new aluminum drive shaft had a 8″x3″ gash in it from where the truck had actually dropped or fallen off something. Right in line with the driveshaft gash was a large dent in the passenger side rocker panel underneath the truck. The front drive shaft was MISSING all together! To top it off there was a 20″ rain in Houston while the truck was in one of the moving companies subconractors possession. The truck was flooded up to the floorboards. Had to drain all the fluids in the truck. Unfortunately I didnt figure this out until my whole drivetrain started cavitating one day. Eventually thought to pull some drain plugs and everything had water in it. Then I started noticing water lines and dead grass stuck to the underside of the truck.

This was a nightmare experience for which the moving company took ZERO responsibility for. After consulting with an attourney and various other people the end result was I didnt have much to stand on with out the previous condition pics. These car movers do not haul the vehicles themselves. Most of the actual hauling is contracted out to subs. Trying to track down all the companies involved was nearly impossible. In the end I only got $200 bucks knocked off the bill which barely covered a fraction of the damage done.

Remember to take pics if you hire it out to be moved!!!! The name of the company I used was DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers), stay far away from them!

I didnt get this done at the time but a few months ago I was quoted just under $200 for about the same deal, new fuel filter, oil, tire rotation, axle/tranny service, etc. This was at a Ford dealer in the metro. The one at 694 and Silver Lake Rd.

They may have been a special running, I cant remember for sure, but $450 seems way out of line.

Cat problem solved. Big dog + repressed instincts = dead cat! Man was that a sight to behold. Anyone who says a cat with claws can put up a good fight against a dog is sadly mistaken.

i was on one just this weekend that had the plexiglass panels. i know it was hot out, but being on that deck was like sitting in a hot oven. Would probably be alright in a shaded area, but in the sun was brutal.

Dont know where you are going on I94 but if your taking I94 out west of the cities I would maybe take a look at going I35 to I35W to 494W and loop around the southwest metro and hook up with I94 that way.

Might want to check out Snopes on these two. They’ve been floating around a while. Two different gators. First is from Georgia/SC border. Second is from TX and is supposed to be 13′ not 23′. I dont think saltwater crocs even get that big.

Either way those are still some pretty big critters.

Everything I’m seeing shows we will draft Adrian Peterson from Oklahoma. Would be nice if his knee is fully healed.

No Progressive boat insurance but I did have a Progressive policy on a truck a number of years ago. I got rear ended and they were all over the situation. Everything cleared up and a check in my hand in a matter of a few days to get it fixed. It was all handled very quickly.

When I moved up here i went with American Family but the only reason for that was I knew the agent.

I’ve got a 90+ pound Rottie mix and oak hardwood floors though the entire house. Been in the house almost 3 years and have yet to get any major noticable scratches on the floors. Theres a few on there but not nearly as bad as I expected it to be, maybe because he spends most of his day sleeping upside down on my couch.

He slobers alot too but we have a poly finish so no harm done, if you have a wax finish it will discolor the floor if not cleaned up.

I would start by looking for indicators on the water surface relating to current and bottom structure changes. You dont neccessarily need depth finders etc one you learn to read the water. Theres numerous things you can look for out there. I would start by looking for seams in the water surface, boils, ridges of current disruptions are all things could that indicate fish holding structure below the surface. Downed timber is also known to hold fish. Areas where the current reverses flow below dams along the shorelines can be good at the right times.

Transitions from flats and dropoffs along bends in the river from the inside to the ouside of the river can also be good places to look.

Thats just a start, I’m sure there is going to be a lot of other info from some pretty good river fisherman following this also.

Last summer on WBL. Buddy was reeling in a sunny on ultralight up to the boat. Out of nowhere a pretty large class muskie shot out like a bolt of lighting and grabbed ahold of the unsuspecting sunny. It was close enough to the boat that we could see everything. Muskie drilled it once, let go, circled and came back a grabbed it again. Actually had it on the line long enough to get it to the side of the boat and it let go and sank back into the deep. Coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. Rough measurement at the side of the boat put it close to 50″. Probably exageratted a little due to the level of excitment in the boat, but still pretty cool.

I personally think Minneapolis is a cakewalk compared to many large cites. In my line of work (government energy services) one of our biggest customers outside of the military are public housing authorities, the real ghettos. Even better, I get to do on site building audits of them all the time, nationwide. Chicago, NY, DC, Kansas City, San Antonio, Houston, Tampa, Miami, LA, Dallas/Ft Worth, Seattle, Virgin Islands, Gary IN, and on and on. Those are scary places, not here.

Beleive me our little wannabe gangsters in Minneapolis aint got nothing on some of the boys in those places. Theres some areas that are downright scary as hell out there and for a larger city minneapolis definitely is not one of them. I’d spend the night on the street in N. Minny before I’d go to a lot of places elsewhere in the nation during the day.

Thats one of the reasons I moved up here after seeing some of the other cities out there. No matter where you go theres going to be violent crime but if you live in a big city you just cant beat the quality of life here in MPLS.

This is probably a hoax. These dogs are also either somewhere in New Jersey, Atlanta, San Jose, Detroit, and now Wood County, WI and various other locations. Also have seen that they were “adopted” on 2/2/07 also 2/6/07 and 2/7/07.
