Does anyone have any new info for the beginning of the ice season? I’m going out to hit Chisago tonight. Just wondering if anyone has been having any luck out there yet.

Well, I finally got a Walleye out of Green, but I winterized the boat now, and it’s time to focus on Ice. Think cold thoughts.

Congrats on the kid! I have some exciting news for you. You now live near one of the best fisheries in Minnesota. Pool 2 of the Mississippi river, it’s catch and release only, but fishing is open year round and that stretch of river is full of trophy fish (especially walleye) and if you want to keep some fish you just have to drive a little farther south down near Red Wing, the whole river is full of fish. Good luck in the city, and good luck in all your new family endeavors.

Credit union. I got an awesome rate and the whole process was super simple. I went through Firefly Credit Union.

It’s my first year up here in the Chisago lakes area. I’ve been hitting Chisago and South Lindstrom a lot as the water has started to cool. Walleyes have been very hard to find, in three weekends of fishing I got one fish up to the boat where it got off. I know eventually they move up into the channel, but they are currently nowhere near it yet. I’m thinking the water needs to get a little colder yet.

I’d like to know how you do. I haven’t tried Green Lake yet, even though it’s like ten minutes from my house. I’ll have to give Green a shot soon. But I might end up in a tree instead. lol…

With this three way rig., is it supposed to be fished as vertical as possible? I’ve been fishing pool 2 a lot this spring with the standard jig and a minnow, and I’ve gotten really good at feeding fish so I started trying the three way live bait and stick bait setups. The current is strong right now and unless I use a lot of weight (like and ounce or two) I am having a heck of a time staying vertical. How much weight do any of you use on a three way in strong current?

Just remember to support the bait shops, stop in and buy something, maybe your new plastics. I would hate to see the smaller shops around Mille Lacs start closing.
