The 20″ light bar will be more than plenty bright. I run a 12″ with spot/flood Combo for duck hunting. And I don’t think I need any more than that to run backwaters.
March 17, 2016 at 1:16 am #1607338Led light bars are cheap on Amazon. They work great near shore or backwaters. Open water they don’t do you any good. It don’t take much light to illuminate cans on the river. If you run them on open water or main channel be courteous to other boaters and shut them down. It takes too long to be able to see again if you get blasted by spot lights. They will light up ice flow and debris.
July 19, 2015 at 2:38 am #1555285We fished it every June in the 90’s stayed by open bay. We always did very well in mid june with crawler harnesses. Never went farther south than grassy island stayed mostly in open bay’s north east side off points. Windy sides/points were the ticket. We only caught one walleye that was 29″ rest of them ran 25″-16″ average with plenty of small ones. Northerns ran big as I remember, jerk baits like suicks and reef hawgs did the best black/silver walleye perch patterns. Shoreline south of open bay lodge was good also and out of wind if it was bad.
May 2, 2014 at 11:43 am #1408007Drove by the rock today. No dock but looks like you could put a boat in.
April 23, 2014 at 8:59 pm #1405835Not a 40-50hp but I like my 60 yamaha. Only had it for a couple weeks now but it’s sweet. Trolls down nice and gets up on plane fast. It’s not to big for my Modv Jon at 18′ 6″ boat weights in at 700 dry. Pushes along at 42wot with me full 7gal tank and 2 batteries up front and 1 in back and gear. Happy with service so far with yamaha and dealer checking in on how it’s running.
April 9, 2014 at 1:09 pm #1402953Don’t know on a maxxum but it was easy on a power drive. Take head off and take off wires. Slide a metal pipe over wires and down shaft to protect wires and cut [censored] to length. I used a dremel to cut mine. Then measure wire and cut them and hook them back up. Leave a little extra to manipulate head around and snug head back up.
April 6, 2014 at 11:17 am #1376460A while back I seen it while muskie fishing on cedar lake. They had 6 guys in a boat and it was riding low in water thought they were over weight probably. Nope! truck backs up to landing no trailer….guys get out of boat lift tongue out of water hook up and go. They took plenty of weeds with them also. I thought it was a joke till they left with all the weeds on trailer.
April 5, 2014 at 12:22 pm #1401977Out trout fishing they r stacked up tight in a few holes I seen. More suckers than trout .
March 30, 2014 at 11:15 pm #1400508Awesome show! We just got done doing same thing on backwaters with the HT flag. Way better on rods! Again GREAT show!!
March 25, 2014 at 9:34 pm #1399263Draggin jig and paddle tail style plastic. Also suspending shad rap or husky jerk will allow you to fish slower braided line u might be able to snap weeds off bait.
March 17, 2014 at 9:30 pm #1397009Some of the reefs off of knights can be good. Or south end of knights also.
March 17, 2014 at 9:27 pm #1397007Last year this time we did good out in the mud 16-18 miles out 32-34′. We went out to the end of road past wheelers point shacks. Few miles south of garden island. Didn’t make it up this year due to work.
March 17, 2014 at 10:53 am #1396799So I finally got a email back from gatortrax the recreational hull version of my boat is 60hp so I’m good with the f60 witch is nice.
March 15, 2014 at 10:45 am #1396344I don’t have to worry it’s called common sense. Why would I put a huge motor on boat and make it worthless for fishing…… 18.5×70/15 = 86.3333 is too much for fishing
March 14, 2014 at 9:52 am #1396084Thanks for the input! I’ll go with the f60 I think. bay city sent me a email on prices.
Fishing has been good. Was down Wednesday with friend and he kept his limit. Threw back some nice sauger and walleye night bite dragging/pitchingMarch 14, 2014 at 8:49 am #1396052No I had tall transom added since I had mud motor from previous boat. 20″
March 14, 2014 at 8:06 am #1396029Most likely 2-3 people. Boat has a hunt deck so not sure if it wound back troll and with no keel (flat as a pancake and smooth as glass) . So it doesn’t track good windy days suck.
March 14, 2014 at 7:32 am #1396003Yamaha the best option for trolling down ? Biggest factor would be for trolling cranks on river. I have built in tank that’s only 7gal. I might have to add a tank have plenty of room. Mud motor I could run from bay city to maiden rock and back over half tank burned.
March 9, 2014 at 4:44 pm #13950061/8-1/4oz I always try to go as light as I can get away with. Some days it don’t mater and it pays to fish 1/4 or a 5/16 faster. I like the glow-gill style myself. But use tweener and b3 also.
March 9, 2014 at 4:30 am #1394907Kinns sport fishing is down in Winthrop harbor in April and May. Good outfit.
March 7, 2014 at 5:52 am #1394578I ran into you when u were leaving. With water being as clear as it is early and late r good. Soon as sun hit the horizon they turned on.
