Lake Wissota is considered as all the way to the Jim Falls dam. There is not a different limit.
April 6, 2010 at 3:04 pm #861186Check the regs, but previously it was only the Chippewa River below the Eau Claire dam being open year-round.
March 26, 2010 at 5:52 pm #857568A birth rate of 1/4 is quite low, especially over the easy winters.
January 2, 2010 at 4:44 pm #828814You don’t “set the hook” with a circle hook. Just reel steady or pull steady and it should catch in the corner of the mouth.
June 19, 2009 at 11:23 pm #785266I was told parts for the 1980 and older Evinrudes were no longer available as of 3 years ago.
April 6, 2009 at 9:22 pm #766239Try removing the battery and then powering up with the AC cable plugged in. My Dell will not boot if the battery is 0% and plugged in, but will boot if the battery is removed and is plugged in to AC.
February 5, 2009 at 11:22 pm #745104Seconded. I tie jig collars no-where near as pretty as those, but man-oh-man do they catch fish!
October 3, 2007 at 2:46 pm #613031I’ve had motors act exactly like that when the spark plugs are going. They looked fine, but replacing them has fixed the problem.
September 2, 2007 at 7:58 pm #605099Saturday night around dusk it sounded as if a bass boat had gotten stuck somewhere below the Jim Falls dam and were using the big motor on full power to try and push themselves free. We heard 10 to 12 full power bursts from the same area for about 15 minutes. Not much water up there closer to the dam.
March 20, 2007 at 3:25 pm #550857Yeah, make sure to fill it up. The tubes have less in them now than years ago and no longer fill up my Evin. motor either. As the other guys have already stated, the pump is a great way to solve that problem.
February 6, 2007 at 6:09 pm #533455I also read a pretty long story about it being a doctored photo. Don’t remember where the story is now…
January 29, 2007 at 4:54 pm #52937470hp 4-stroke Evinrude runs very, very quiet. Everyone I’ve taken fishing is really surprised how quiet it runs. Some of the other guys call it the stealth motor. A lot of times you have to look at the engine to tell when it’s actually idling. Of course if you open it all the way it still makes noise.
Mercury 4 stroke was at least twice as loud. You should listen to them yourself at a boat dealer before you make a decision.
I don’t have any knowledge on the 2 stroke E-Techs. However, a lot of people have had good things to say about them in the first couple years.
January 9, 2007 at 4:24 pm #520236I’ve had to repair more systems that have been corrupted by Norton than any other antivirus software package. It may be caused by the huge initial install base due to computer manufacturers having a 30-day version installed. However, support is about non-existant for Norton to the average home customer (re-install the OS to fix your product? Definitely not). In the last few years the complaints of Norton installs not working at all have risen dramaticly.
AVG Antivirus has been good for the last few years. Looks like they want more paid business and have modified the website to that effect, but the free version is still available for personal use.
December 27, 2006 at 3:54 pm #515553The Maxxuums (cable-drive) are what I use. They are almost identical to the Evinrude ones before Minnkota bought them. For instance, the pedal is exactly the same as my old Evinrude trolling motor.
I hear numerous stories again and again and again about the foot pedals on the Powerdrives giving out. I’ve only heard one story of a cable breaking. I’ve been using cable drive trolling motors for 22 years without a problem.

November 22, 2006 at 7:48 pm #502461Most all people seem to have good luck with lasik. However if you’re the one that something doesn’t go just right… For some it’s definitely worth it. For others the risks outweigh the benefits. A lot of people I know that had the surgery say it was well worth it, but they have small issues such as halos or worse twilight vision than previously with corrective lenses.
October 20, 2006 at 8:14 pm #491127Isn’t tomorrow, Saturday, the 21st? Sounds like fun, but it’s time for hunting.
Good luck!
October 10, 2006 at 7:35 am #487250Sounds to me like the fishing is still really good for size. The MN DNR sure seems to keep tight regulations on it’s waters to produce more trophy sized fish. That and to sustain the fisheries is why they modify the slot size for “keepers” on the different lakes.
October 4, 2006 at 5:59 am #485379It’s been lightning and thundering like crazy here since 11:30PM. It’s like being at a rock concert with heavy bass as I can feel some of those in my chest. Sure is tough to sleep through that.
September 25, 2006 at 4:34 pm #482326Haug,
Hmm, let’s review: Guy causes problems to where the police have to intervene; it’s not the guy’s fault nor any of his families fault? There may be other facts, but it doesn’t condone the behavior that caused the police to be called in the first place. Thus the guy/family were also to blame for the incident no matter how it ended. However, it is very sad that someone lost their life and that’s where the remaining facts need to be presented.
September 22, 2006 at 5:11 pm #481672The family is distraught over the loss of a family member. They are in denial over the facts of the situation. How can they be responsible? Well, the family is also responsible for the situation. By family/friends playing a race card, “KKK”, at such an early stage of discovery shows that they want to avoid the facts from being in the public eye.
It’s very sad to see people not take responsibility for their actions leading up to an event. More and more it’s been blame other people.
September 22, 2006 at 4:55 pm #481659That’s very disappointing. The DNR and NRB are bowing to the anti-fishing groups and upset local people for the July 1-Aug 31 no-release tournament change. These are a very vocal minority set of people. Negative attitudes appear to have more weight in this argument than positive facts.
I don’t fish in any big tournaments, but besides restricting the tournament fishing I see these changes being detrimental to the WI economy. No wonder the big tournaments stay in the southern states where they don’t have to deal with stuff like this.
September 14, 2006 at 8:18 pm #478892Not much flow on 5 as of last weekend. The wind was easily holding the boat or pushing it up the main channel. Didn’t see any ducks hanging out or flying.
