I ice fish Sakakawea all the time. Sometimes its good but for every good trip you have 2 or 3 bad. With its size there is just to much water to cover sometimes. Even moving around can be tough, the ice is never very consistant and you have to be carful, have had a few close calls. If you do find the fish though it can be good.

Have to second the cabelas infernos. I am on my second pair and love them, usually wear nothing more than light everyday socks with them. Don’t need anything else.

When we first started fishing LOTW the guides told us to play music, and when we fish here in ND most of the time have music on the ice. In the boat about the only time I worry about noise is when fishing small shallow holes on the river, have seen fish just disappear after a load noise.

I use a 30″ medium avid ice rod exclusively for walleye with a wide variety of lures. I love it! Went through quite a few rods before I found it and it would take a lot for me to change.

Got back yesterday and wanted to thank you guys for the info. Had the best fishing on the lake that we have had yet. Fished exclusively in 13-20 feet. Windy days were definitely easy to find and catch fish. Used pretty much nothing but lindys and crawlers, only caught one fish on a leech all week. Had a great 4 hour session Friday afternoon after the thunderstorms when we released 4 slot fish and caught others. Biggest fish of the week was 22.5″. Pretty sure that we will be making another up there.

Heading up there on Saturday out of Moosehorn resort for the week. Any presentation been working better than the rest? Have had some small success and just looking for a place to start. Thanks
