    Quote:
These numbers are estimated by insurance companies since so few are reported to law enforcement.
    Minnesota – 40,000
    Wisconsin – 70,000

So you think the Insurance companies estimated these numbers for the heck of it?

40,000 claims in MN alone and you think they just ignore that?

There was a post about this exact topic a while back but I’m too lazy to look it up.
I believe it stated something about the legislature determining the DNR deer quotas not the DNR itself or at least having a major say in it. The insurance companies have lobbyists in every state, count on it. Not 1 or more dedicated to deer but a whole array of topics.

The insurance companies are to blame for the liberal bag limits.
At least a large portion of the blame.
They spend a lot of money on lobbying and influencing everybody from politicians to DNR brass.
They’d prefer every deer was dead.
Now my local body shop would prefer they not even have a deer season!

I tried bringing up Curleys Sausage Kitchen and their website won’t load.

Anyone know if they went out business?

Looks like Finny had the same problem and wondering.

I’m almost afraid to say anything these days for fear of the sharp shooters that could be used.
I’ve had very different results and I’m not that far from Jimmy S.
We’ve seen plenty of does and fawns. I’ve seen wayyyy too many small scrapper bucks. Like as in 4″ spikes and forks. And bucks that only have 1 side. I’m still hoping to see what broke em all!
Before season A started, I saw a bunch of nice bucks but no trophy’s.
We only take bruiser bucks and wait for this coming weekend for a couple does. Or wait and take our does in season B with dm tags.
Plus, I can still hunt with the bow for a trophy.
No, I won’t hunt the special season in December. I too do not like these special seasons.
I was all for the youth hunt until they included everybody. It should go back to youth only.

I know exactly where Jimmy S hunts. That is crazy that you aren’t seeing much.
I will say this year is weird. I saw zero deer before the season running in the open. With all the corn out, they should have been all over but they weren’t.

I’m still upset with the DNR’s “Kill em All” approach. Literally in 642 we can gun hunt from opening weekend through late December. Ridiculous and hope many more like me won’t!!

Jimmy – you don’t mean hunting with a gun, do you? In 642.

Like if you hunt A season, you can’t hunt B season, right?

We can gun hunt A or B? Not both. But you could hunt archery then the muzzle loader season and back to archery. Plus the Dec. CWD 3 day season

Nice deer though. Looks to be getting a little Grey.

    Good luck guys!
They’re just starting to get hot!

I think it has something to do with having season 2 occur over Thanksgiving.

With 5 days between seasons, that makes season 1 start later than normal.

    Tom –
I picked up 3 pork bellies at Fareway and going to making own bacon for the 1st time.

When you said “1 cup each dark brown sugar and Morton’s Tenderquick.”

Is that 1 cup of brown sugar per pork belly or per pound?
And do you use 1/2 Oz of Tenderquick per pound?

In Lake City there’s Roschen Park on the South end and Hok-Si-La on the North end. Both have decent boat ramps and a dock.

    TB gave the game away.
I guess you could say it was a good game but certainly sloppy plays on both sides.

TB had em by the short hairs in the last 5 minutes and absolutely pissed it away.

I suppose that’s football so I’ll give credit to Kirko Chains and the Dirty Birds for hanging in there and coming out on top.

Is Kirko Chains still applicable? moon

I just watched a few replays of Love when his knee was injured.
You can obviously see it “pop”.

Guess an MRI will prove it but it sure looks like he’s done for the season. Complete MCL or ACL tear.

Did you stay at a holiday inn last night?

    Why do you care?
I do believe I said I watched the replays.
    Free even. Duh.

A buddy from college owns a bar near Rochester called Jack’s. I have never been there but he posts photos all the time and the food looks fantastic.

Are you sure that’s the name of it?
I’m not too far from Rochester and get there often but have never seen or heard of Jack’s?

Google didn’t have anything on it either.

Does anyone know if all the corn growers are growing Round Up ready corn?

Something about using Round Up really makes me not want to eat it.

I hate tilling/weeding but grow my own because I can. No chemicals on it.
Tough to do if you’re growing enough to sell.

No idea. With the amount of chemicals and other things in most everything we eat, The thought of roundup ready corn does not bother me one bit. More worried about all the hormones and steroids used in animals these days. Roundup has been used on crops for a lot of years now.

There’s a big difference. How many foods do you eat that were directly sprayed with RoundUp? Very few.
Most is sprayed on foods that are eatin by other animals and then you consume that animal.
So that’s already gone through another process not directly to your gut.
But you just keep eating it. After all, then you won’t need a flashlight when you go out in the dark. The glow will be plenty. frown

    I had 3-4″ hail on July 31st.
17 year old, Shingled roof will be replaced.

I have a steel shed and detached garage with steel roofs.
I could see dents but really, not that bad. Siding was the same situation.
My policy has a clause that states “cosmetic” damage to steel roofs/siding is not covered. Both of them not covered.
However, they did replace the steel gutters which had minor dents because it’s not part of the roof. WTH?

More and more insurance companies are adding that if it’s not already there.
Gone are the days of having a couple dents in a steel roof/siding and getting it fully replaced.

I opted for a shingled roof again instead of going steel.

    Wasn’t that light show awesome!
Wish I could post the video of it but it’s too large.

And the temp drop was crazy. Wind picked up about 8:30 and it went from miserable to nice in 60 seconds.
I thought we were in for a nasty ride. Then the wind died a bit and it rained a little. Lightning and thundered like crazy but that’s about it.
Looks like everything went North of me.

The Lake City high school only had .08″ so it was all North of them too.

Nodakk – Are you sure the 100 HP isn’t over the rating?

I have a 2000 and I’d have to look at the plate but I’m fairly sure it’s only rated for an 80 HP. That’s for my 1775 so maybe you’re looking at a longer tiller?
I bought a new 2014 75 HP for it and it’ll scoot along at 30 mph. Fast enough for me. It has very few hours on it. Long story…
It has power steering too. Love that for long rides in rough water!

Send me PM if you’d have any interest in it.

I’m about 20 miles North of Rochester.
    I had 7″ of rain.
Also had a huge cottonwood tree with a pair of eagles that sit in it every day and the young one they hatched out of a nest on mine.
    Yep, it blew over.
Gonna miss seeing and hearing them unless they find another perch nearby.

If you really think the Vikings will have those 3 drafts picks by the 2025 draft, you are very mistaken.
We know they’ll have comp picks coming. Maybe trading down out of 1st.
Whatever they do it will be more than 3 in 2025.
