I thought there was only one kind BEAVER DAM. I got a few that are over 25yrs old and I still use them ever year without a problem. My fishing buddie has some plastic ones that work, but I wouldn’t trade mine for anything even when its 10 deg out.
just placed my order. Bought my last pair of icemans in 1992. Used them all the time hunting, fishing, etc in the winter time. Finally got a hole in them bowhunting this year. If these last 20 yrs Ill be happy.
I was wonderning if the slabs had moved in yet. I wont be able to be out there until Mon/Tues and if I’m lucky I wont have to drill a hole either. Nice fish Cade and Crew.
I probably got my last taste of the hard water Sunday also. I was on the the bay at about 6:30 with a freind who did decent saturday. We started north of the boat slips looking for some gills. Sat mid morinig and afternoon provided some decent action with nice gills no big bulls just good eaters 7-8 inchers. The water seemed dirty compared to yestersday. Not a bite. Moved down towards the Ole crappie hole at 9:00. Yes, a very odd time to catch crappies usually do this before sun is warming your backside. It took about 5 min or so and the first crappie was on the ice 11.5″ ended with 5 more and two perch by 11:30. It ended up being a good moved compared to the action on the north side. Nice day probably my last walking on water till later this year.
What in the heck is going on down there. Last year there didn’t seem to be as many “duckhunters” on the bay. Even a busy day was way less than half of the vehicles today, by the looks of it.
Last year I tried cajun red 3# and still use it today. I also like calcutta 3# and I spooled one pole a week or so ago with trilene micro ice 3#. Truth of the matter to me is if the knot holds good and it stays straight I usually like it.
Nice perch boss. If I had to come up with a title for the day it would read “Tough Day All Day” started on a point on pool 9 backwater 1 10″ perch a small stripper by 7:00 or so and a 3.5 hour wait until a 25.5 golden pike (carp) hit. went to another slough at noon ended with a goose egg left 4:30.
Fished a few spots friday afternoon. pretty tough to get bites lots of looking and mouthin’ going on. hopefully this warming will turn them on a little.
Not that I am aware of. I think you can park there for nothing, dont take my word on it otherwise its 3.00 I think. I cant ever remember paying in the winter time though.
I have to LED fashlights that I got from a friend at Jahn trucking. They have a lanyard that I tie to the cross bar of shack, pull em tight and you can aim them right at the holes. Had to do this by accident last year because I left the lantern at home. But… I’ll probably never take my lantern again.
Last year on Easter Sunday which also was the last time fishing for the year my friend Pete and I were fishing Desoto Bay. Looking for those jumbo perch. We got pretty tanked the night before so he didn’t feel well . He had his pole on his pail and came over to see me hears a noise looks back to see the end of his pole disappear into the abyss. Ironic thing is that was his only bite that day.
fished just north of praire du chien Spring Lake. caught a pile of bluegills last count was 57 pukes to 7 decent gills and 2 that I’ll claim 5th on. Ice was good bitin’ on anything just not alot of size.
